Anthony Hopkins stars in Zero Contact, a sci-fi film being sold as a single NFT on the VUEL platform. Made entirely virtually across 17 countries during the pandemic, it runs on CurrencyWorks blockchain. The model could let filmmakers raise money through NFT sales instead of traditional $2-5 million studio deals.

So right now what we're going to talk about is a debrief about a movie that is being launched as an NFT. Now Hollywood is tapping into the non-fungible tokens market to create additional revenue streams. Right now there's a movie with Anthony Hopkins that's being released. It's a new science fiction movie that is the first film to be auctioned off as a full NFT. It's called Zero Contact. It's being auctioned off by VUEL. It's an NFT film distribution platform. Now, they hope to be the new model on the future of film distribution. And I'll tell you what, the CEO is kind of smart because not only did he launch VUEL, but he's also the co-producer of the movie. So you see that one fuels the other, right? So I see the future of the film business on blockchain. This could be a scenario where prior or theatrical releases or home entertainment is released as an NFT. So Zero Contact was entirely produced virtually. You know what? In 17 different countries. Can you believe that? And this was during the pandemic. How they pulled that off, I'll never know.
Yeah.
To get people involved. But this NFT-based film will run on the CurrencyWorks blockchain, and it has a cross-chain capability with Ethereum. So I know you're a fan of this already. You are the one that brought it to me, like, did you know Anthony Hopkins has a movie coming out there? Why do you think it's important for us to know about this?
Well, as of the filming, it was literally launched today. It was announced today. And so I always want to be on the bleeding edge of what's being done in the space. And this to me is such a natural evolution of what filmmaking and distribution has been. And you've been so reliant on the majors to fund your projects. Independents have really taken hold over the years, but it's still a $2 to $5 million upfront endeavor to be able to do a project. This changes all of that. You can raise the money for your film as an NFT and then release it onto a blockchain. This is game-changing. This is going to fundamentally change the way that we consume media going forward. And so from a project like Stoner Cats with, you know, a television show, from a game that has an ecosystem developed around it, people are spending time with, this is just another avenue where the blockchain and the NFT application will be fundamentally disruptive. And so if I was owning, say, an AMC theater or another distribution platform for films, I would be hypersensitive to what's going on in the space because I'd want to be in front of this. I'd want to be doing projects just like this. And I got to tell you, I love the name Zero Contact because it means so many different things. It's not only the fact that they did it in so many different countries to produce it, but you have to have zero contact with someone to be able to consume it as well. I just, I think this is gonna be a smash hit. Whether the movie's the worst movie ever or not, it's just the fact that they put their flag in the ground and said, this is a better way.
This is a better way. And I think Anthony Hopkins is so excited to be part of something where he is the first.
Yeah.
Absolutely. So pay attention. This is just the beginning. We're gonna be seeing a lot of changes in Hollywood and beyond.
