Leilah Mirza argues that real healing comes from looking inward at your beliefs and unconscious patterns, not from blaming external circumstances. She explains how changing what you believe about yourself is what actually creates lasting change.

When things go wrong in people's lives, the first thing they tend to do is usually go outwards. They look at timing, they look at bad luck, they tend to blame. But if you really want to shift your life, you need to be willing to go deeper than that. You need to be willing to go and find out where are you actually operating from, because your external reality, whatever's happening on the outside in your life, is always a true reflection of what's happening on your internal mental state. So instead of asking yourself, "Why is this always happening to me?" rephrase the question to, "What part of me is allowing this?" or "What part of me is creating this pattern?" It is so easy to blame. It's so easy to blame it on external circumstances because by blaming teaches us that we don't need to take accountability and the fault isn't ours, but that's not really in the mirror of truth. So by asking yourself, what part of me is creating this, this will shift you and it will show you if you're operating from fear, if you're operating from lack or abundance, if you're operating out of survival instincts, right? Is this in alignment or is this in survival? Just make an example. When you go to the shop and something comes in resistance, or you see something and it brings up resistance in your body somatically, notice what's going on. So ask yourself, where is this coming from? Is this coming from lack or is this coming from abundance? Is this coming from survival or alignment? Sometimes it's not even about the root underneath, it's about the belief that you're running. Because you could get to the root and you can go, ah, actually I'm in survival, right? Because as a child I learned this coping strategy because my mother did, or my father did, or it's in our ancestors. But it's mostly to do with your belief. So it's not just a survival instinct, it's what your belief about that, that changes things. So it's the unconscious patterns that you've normalized, the way you speak to yourself when no one's listening, the standards you've set for yourself. All of these comes back into play. Change truly happens when you avoid trying to look on the outside, but when you become radically honest with everything that's happening for you on the inside. And the beauty that I feel by working with the clients that I have, it's because they are willing to be honest with who they are, with where they're going, and that's where change happens. Once you can see the pattern clearly and be honest and change that belief, you're no longer controlled by it.
