Coach Bobby on Exercise Bands

Bobby Harris shows how to use door-mounted resistance straps for a full-body workout at home. The lean of your body against the straps controls how hard the exercise is, and you can adjust difficulty by changing your angle. He demonstrates pull-ups, bicep curls, push-ups, and squats using the inexpensive system.

Hey there. Good morning, this is Bobby Harris, your TNT health and fitness coach. I'm here coming to you from my kitchen and behind you you'll see a strap hanging from the door. Today we're going to talk about our resistance training straps. And I happen to pick these up, you know, easily online and not too expensive, but a great way to work out at home and to use your own body weight as a resistance instead of heading to the gym with all those heavy dumbbells. Comes with a great instruction guide. Easy to set up. You can see behind me, it just clamps through your doorway. Make sure that you do have a floor that is not slippery and you're wearing your nice sneakers that grip the floor. And we'll give it a show here and see what we can do. I'll be filming myself, so hang on a second here. I'm going to put this down here. Come over to here and set it up where you can see me work out a little bit. What we have here are two straps and you saw from before where they attach above the doorway. And you close the door on a little foam roller. And what it does is it gives you a nice sturdy. You can see here, it's not coming off of the top of the doorway here. But what you're going to focus on here is, is the lean. The lean determines how much resistance you're going to put at yourself. So you start kind of shallow here and you stay on your tippy toes here. First thing you can do here is a pull up. You see a nice pull up. Here you go, nice and wide. Throw the elbows out wide. Spread the chest out here. To make this more difficult, you lean even further and get in a nice plank position. And you can see here, it makes it much more difficult. Next we'll switch our hands to where the palms face each other and the palms are facing inward. This will be more for the bicep and your back muscles here and you're pulling yourself up here. Next what you'll do is you face your palms to the ceiling and you're going to do a curl. So here's the curl here. So you lean back and you curl it up to your chin, down, up, really squeezing the bicep up here. So now what I'll do is I'll face a little bit away from you. I hope you can see this. Okay, but now I'm going to put my heels to the doorway here and I'm going to do push ups. Down, up, down, up. Then I like to work my shoulders by doing what I call a superwoman or a superman move. So. So here you go. You throw your hands above your head, lean forward, squeeze your abs really tight here. And those are a couple exercises you can do this way. I'll show you for your triceps here. So watch your tricep. You put them in that superman or superwoman position, but then you bend your elbows here to the top of your head and you push back. Great tricep exercise. Then for your legs, you want to do some squats. So watch this here. I get in here where my arms are kind of parallel to the floor. I go down, up, down, up, down, up. I can even jump out of this here. Up, up, up. So you can see you had to do so many exercises with just using your body weight. These straps are not too expensive. And be looking forward to some fun at home and really get yourself out of breath and in great shape. Thanks so much.
