Healthy Coaching

Jamie Alonso from Total Nutrition and Therapeutics explains what health coaching does: grocery shopping help, allergy substitutions, meal prep, and ongoing support by call or text. It's preventative care that keeps you accountable.
If you grew up playing a sport, you know how important it is to have a coach to help you achieve success. A coach can bring a team to victory or help people achieve personal or professional goals. But over the last decade or so, a relatively new kind of coach has emerged. The health coach. A health coach is a supportive mentor, someone to help you not only achieve nutritional wellness, but but to maintain it. Jamie Alonso is a health coach. She explains the importance of her role at Total Nutrition and Therapeutics.
Having a coach will hold you accountable. You have to be ready because change is or can be hard, especially for the first week. Once you meet with me and we talk about the different food changes, then it's going to take some time to adjust, and it's definitely different from what you're used to. One of the things that I will do with you is take you on a shopping experience. And we start off at one part of the store and we talk about the actual ingredients in the label. It's not all about the nutrition label. It's the ingredients as well, because what you put in your body is so very important. So if you don't know what ingredient is on your food label, then you really shouldn't put it in your body. If you have to Google it, we shouldn't be eating it. So we'll talk about what exactly is in the ingredients. And there are some hidden words as well. I can't just say, okay, you know, here's a list of things to eat because everybody's so unique. Once you have your food allergies noted, then we can open up your world to a whole new dimension. And so basically we'll talk about, okay, well, if you can't have cheese, let's see what else you can do. Let's top it with this instead. So that way you're not feeling like this is all I have, you know, know, we're gonna open up to see, this is all that you can have when you're hungry and you're in a hurry and you don't have your foods planned out, that's where you get in trouble. And then you get into binge eating. So when you plan ahead, we'll actually put on your menu, okay, this is what I'm gonna have for a snack. And we're gonna have those snacks made up for every single day. And a lot of them are gonna be grab and go and easy meals. Support is very important. You definitely need to be surrounded by people that are gonna be supportive of you. And so I'm there to help you and show you and take you step by step. I'm here to be there for you at every moment. I'm here for you on and off the field. So anytime that you feel like you need some help and some advice, even if you're at the grocery store, all you have to do is give me a call, email me, or text me, show me what you're having trouble with, and I will help you through.
As more and more awareness is given to preventative care help, health coaching is seen as a vital aspect of creating healthy lifestyle changes.
