Ten people in their 50s took 30 spirulina tablets daily in a small trial. After one week, their mitochondrial function and ATP production improved more than a separate group did after 90 days of intermittent fasting. Researcher Hemal Patel attributed the rapid results to autophagy triggered by spirulina's low-carb profile.

In fact, 2 years ago, we did a small clinical trial with a company called MiScreen, and they have developed a blood test. For mitochondria. I've done that. Yeah. So we had a small group and we had blood tests before. Then we gave them, the participants, half men, half women, they were all in their 50s, spirulina every day, 30 tablets. And then we measured their blood after 7 days and then again after 30 days. And Hemal Patel oversaw the research. He's the main researcher for Dr. Joe Dispenza, by the way. So down in UC San Diego, Patel said he'd never seen anything with such remarkable results in a week. He said in another study he had done with somebody, a group of people, they did intermittent fasting for 90 days and that helped improve mitochondria Uh, ATP production. 'Cause a— what a— 'cause what it does when you do intermittent fasting or any kind of fasting, you don't eat, you have a shorter window of time of eating, which gives your body and your cells a chance to clean up. So when your cells are working better 'cause they're cleaned up, they, they're able to generate more ATP. So he said, you know, there were better results from after 7 days of spirulina than the 90 days of intermittent fasting, partly because there was autophagy. There's no carbs in spirulina. It also improved the efficacy of the mitochondria. And there's different measurements that they— and that was 2 years ago. So they have even better probably metrics and markers than they did 2 years ago.
