Sue's Story

Sue Williams lost 50 pounds and reversed her diabetes and heart disease risk with help from Lori Esarey at Total Nutrition and Therapeutics in The Villages. A Tel Aviv University study found that eating a 700-calorie breakfast and 200-calorie dinner led to 18 pounds of weight loss over 12 weeks, compared to 7 pounds for the opposite pattern. Sue now does nine pull-ups and has improved clinical markers.
If you love eating a big breakfast like I do, new research shows that it could help you actually lose weight. A recent study from Tel Aviv University found that you could lose twice as many pounds by eating a bigger breakfast. Half of the dieters in the study ate 700 calories a breakfast and 200 calories for dinner, while the rest did the opposite. All lunches were 500 calories. The big breakfast eaters shed nearly 18 pounds over 12 weeks, while the others lost seven. Sue Williams explains her health issues and struggle with weight and how she turned things around with the help from the specialists at Total Nutrition and Therapeutics in the Villages.
I was very overweight, I was a diabetic and I was at high risk for heart disease. I was not feeling very well at all. In fact, I had so many joint issues and everything that I was feeling like the Tin Man. I worked out at the gym every day for two, two and a half hours, had a personal trainer trying to lose weight, everything and nothing was happening. And I did that for a year and, and I just said I had to do something. And I heard about Lori through a friend of mine who had success with her and I decided I'm going to try it and see what happens. She totally changed my eating habits. She's changing everything from the inside out. She's constantly guiding me and I'm accountable to her. She makes me accountable and she's such a great person. I don't want to disappoint her, to tell you the truth. I tried many, many diets before I was successful for a short period of time and then I would always go back and then I would always regain the weight because I had the heart disease. I was ready for a heart attack. I was diabetic. Nobody wants to be a diabetic. And I'm sure she saved my life. I'm feeling great right now. I lost 50 pounds. I'm working out with a personal trainer. I did nine pull ups yesterday for the first time in my life. It's just been fabulous for me. All of my numbers for heart disease, diabetes, all those things have gone down. I'm at the lowest risk now for diabetes, heart disease and all those things that are terrible for you. My husband is very proud of me and very happy that I've been this successful. But not only is my husband proud, my kids are proud.
