This YouTube health segment highlights the role of poor diet in chronic disease and presents a patient testimonial about osteopenia and nutrient absorption problems. The patient describes rejecting a ‘‘just aging’’ explanation, identifying yeast/sugar sensitivity, and improving strength through dietary changes. The video also promotes an open house for Total Nutrition and Therapeutics (TNT) in Elady Lake with date/time and contact pointers.
Poor diet is widely recognized to be a major contributor for chronic health conditions, and chronic health conditions are the major cause for illness, disability and death in the United States. Nearly 100 million Americans have chronic health conditions, and millions more will develop them as they age. We met one patient at Total Nutrition and Therapeutics who wasn't satisfied with the assessment that her osteopenia was just a part of aging.
Osteopenia, My bones are losing bone. My scan was worse this year than was two years ago. My doctor's response was, that's normal, you're getting older. I'm active, work 40 hours a week, do stairs at the hospital, lift patients. There should be no reason but being told that, yeah, it's normal, you're getting older. I'm not buying it. And the prescription drugs that are out there for osteoporosis? Very hard in your body. My husband had seen Lori for a month. I decided to join on board and find out that I do have issues as to why my body isn't absorbing nutrients. I learned I'm sensitive to yeast, which means I need to avoid anything with yeast or sugar in it. And I can feel myself getting stronger, avoiding all the stuff I shouldn't be having. I see future ahead in other people that I see walking around that are hunched over, walking with canes, walkers, and I don't want to be that person. I want to be able to physically do everything I want to do at 100 that I am doing now.
