Three professionals argue you should charge for reviewing a client's books. Speaker C compares it to a mechanic's diagnostic fee and notes that a client's reaction to the charge can reveal whether they'll be difficult to work with long-term.
Well, they came to you because they see you as a professional. So don't be afraid to charge a review fee and take a look at their books.
We should all be charging that. I'm sorry. This is like, if our profession isn't, I find it— I agree.
Yeah.
You know what? I didn't for the longest time.
I don't care if you're just starting out, you should charge to look at the books because it's going to take your time to do it. And then you'll know if they balk at that, they're going to balk at everything else. You don't want them for a client anyway. That should be, you know, go to a mechanic, they charge you a fee to look at everything. Same thing applies for our work.
