In this solo coaching video, Margaret Spence, founder of the Employee to CEO Project and the 10X Leadership Academy for Women, delivers Day 12 of her 30‑day Career Transformation Challenge. She asks viewers—primarily women leaders—to examine the mental "agreements" they have made with themselves that keep them stuck in their careers. Spence defines an agreement as a self‑imposed rule or excuse (e.g., waiting a few years before moving, believing a boss or partner will block advancement) and illustrates several common examples. She urges participants to evaluate whether each agreement is based on fact, fiction, or fear, and to identify which agreements are limiting. The core exercise is to discard unhelpful agreements and replace them with new, actionable commitments framed as "I want X, and in order to get X, I’m willing to do Y." The video concludes with a call to share the content, a reminder to continue the challenge on Day 13, and gratitude for the audience’s participation.

Day 12 of the 30/30 Career Transformation Challenge. Hi, my name is Margaret Spence, and I'm the founder of the Employee to CEO Project and the 10X Leadership Academy for Women. If you've watched the other videos, you know that we are trying to get you to chart a new course for your career in the month of September. I'm asking you to not wait until January to start making bold plans about where you want to take your career. Career. Today's bold question: What agreements have you made with yourself about your career? Let me repeat that. What agreements have you made with yourself about your career? Here's what an agreement looks like. An agreement could be, I'm not going to make a move for the next 2 or 3 years because that's when I'll be ready. An agreement could also look like, you know, my boss has stopped me from getting that promotion 2 or 3 times, and I don't think I want to pursue it anywhere anymore. I might as well just stay put right here. Or the agreement is maybe my partner won't support my wanting to take on this new role. So because I don't think he or she will support, what I wanna do, I'm not gonna try to get another position. I'm just gonna stay right here because anything I do is gonna upend the apple cart for someone else. We make mental agreements with ourselves to stay stuck. Let me say that again. We make mental agreements with ourselves to stay stuck where we are. We make agreements and excuses, and then we justify those agreements and excuses, and we stay where we are. What I'm asking you to do today is to look at the agreements you've made and ask yourself, was that a valid agreement when I made it? Was this agreement based on fact, or was this agreement based on fear? Is the fear what's stopping me from moving forward? Is the agreement that I made about my current role, about my current path, about my current career trajectory, was that agreement based on fact, fiction, or fear? Really interesting question. So today's bold question, What agreements have you made with yourself about your career that's kept you stuck where you are right now? And what agreements do you need to toss aside, shake free of, and decide that that agreement doesn't serve you anymore, that you want to make new agreements? And those new agreements start Start off by saying, I want X, and in order to get X, I'm willing to do Y. Make a new agreement for what you want from your career and chart a new path to where you want to go. Thank you for joining me on the 30/30 Challenge, Day 12. Oh my gosh, I can't believe we're on Day 12, and thank you for hanging with me. If you're enjoying this video, please share it with your friends, because if you need the information, they need it too. So join me tomorrow for Day 13. Take care.
