In this solo coaching video, Margaret Spence, founder of the Employee to CEO Project and the 10X Leadership Academy for Women, leads Day 17 of her 30‑day "30/30 Career Transformation Challenge." She asks viewers to answer a bold, reflective question: “What’s the one thing you want to change about your career right now?” Spence urges participants to look across all aspects of their current role—position, company, management, organizational structure—and pinpoint a single change that will move them toward intentional growth. She cautions against defaulting to “my boss” as the problem, arguing that true career change should be driven by the intention to grow, learn, experience, or build new capabilities. If a viewer cannot answer “yes” to any of those intentions, that signals the area needing adjustment. She offers concrete examples, such as learning a new task or moving to a different business unit to acquire new skills, and asks viewers to consider how the change would propel them toward their career goals. The video concludes with a call to share the content and stay tuned for the next day’s prompt.

Day 17 of the 30/30 Career Transformation Challenge. Can you believe we've gone 17 days already? Thank you for joining me. My name is Margaret Spence, and I'm the founder of the Employee to CEO Project and the 10X Leadership Academy for Women. The 30/30 Challenge is here to help you upend your career, make new plans before the end of the year, and refocus the goals you want to achieve as it relates to your career growth. We're asking you bold questions over the month of September to help you reset and restart your career. Today's bold question: What's the one thing that you want to change about your career right now? If you had the opportunity for a do-over, to change, to upend, to retune, reset your career. What is the one thing that you wanna change? That is a powerful question and a powerful reflection that I'm asking you to have. I'm asking you to look totally across the spectrum of where you are right now, the position you occupy, the company you're working for, the management team you're with, the organizational structure, um, anything that relates to your career or career growth. Look at it totally. And if there's one thing in that pile, that entire body of work, the entire process of who you are in terms of an employee, what's the one thing that you want to change? But this is one thing that I wanna ask you not to focus on. If the one thing that you wanna change is your boss, you're not thinking deep enough. Your boss is not the thing for you to change. When you are making change around your career, the change should be based on some intention. The intention is, am I growing? Am I learning? Am I experiencing? Am I building? And if you cannot answer yes to any of those, then there is a one thing that you need to change. There is a one thing that you need to adjust. So the one thing could be something simple, like I wanna learn a specific task that I don't know right now. So I want to change that. Or the one thing could be, I want to change the business unit that I work with. I want to learn, um, new skills across a different business unit. And if I'm able to change this one thing about the business unit that I'm working for, I will gain additional skills. Refocus what you want, which is a part of our entire challenge, but now reflect on what you wanna change. If you have the opportunity for a do-over, a course correction, a adjustment, what would you adjust? What would you course correct? What would you change? And if you made a change, where would that change take you? Would that change project you forward would that change help you move towards the goal that you have for your career? So today's bold question: What's the one thing you want to change? What's your intention if you had the opportunity to change it? And why do you want to change it? Real deep introspective questions that I'm asking you on day 17 of the 30/30 Career Transformation Challenge. Thank you for joining me. If you enjoyed the video, please share it with your friends. Stay tuned for tomorrow. Take care.
