A short conversational excerpt from a YouTube video where Speaker A asks Speaker B—an ultra-marathon runner—why someone would run 100 miles and whether the runner is "running to something or from something." The clip frames running as both a physical feat and a potential expression of deeper personal motivation.
I got a question for you. You know, I've talked about this joker, but like, you're an ultra marathon, right? Like that's like what, a hundred mile runner kind of thing? Yeah, what's funny about that? Why, number one, why? I don't even want to drive 100 miles, let alone.
Run 100 miles.
Is he running to something or from something?
Yeah, that's a really good question, man. I'm the one that runs from something. I got a lot of demons in my past, you know, the way. I grew up in a very violent home and my dad was in and out of prison selling Met. He ended up dying because of meth. My mom died because of an opioid overdose. And they both died before, you know. Average age I think was 52. I'm 42 now, so I think if I average out the life of my parents, I might only have 10 years to live. Although I don't, you know, I don't do drugs. I think I'm the kind of guy that runs from something.
