A short personal anecdote by Mark Evans DM about his book launch where the internet crashed mid-presentation while hundreds (possibly up to a thousand) of attendees were connected. After an initial moment of devastation he rejoined 15 minutes later to find over 500 attendees remained; his candid, improvised explanation created a stronger, more genuine connection than the prepared PowerPoint presentation he had stressed over.

True story. I was coming out with a new book. As I was talking, the Internet broke. Something happened and I had a lot of people, hundreds and maybe a thousand people on. I was like, oh my God. Keep in mind I spent a lot of time, energy and money to get those thousand people there, plus the preparation to create the PowerPoint and the message I was going to share with them. I was devastated for a minute. I could have easily just tapped it out, shut the computer and said effort and moved on with my day, but I didn't. I actually stuck down. Fifteen minutes later I showed up. I still had over 500 people on and they saw the way I handled myself. I actually connected with people better just talking to them, tell them what happened than my whole entire presentation that I stressed out about for two weeks because it was genuine and real.
