Short spoken segment (YouTube video) in which Mark Evans DM emphasizes that marketing is the core of any business: a social media following is an asset that must be monetized through communication and marketing. He warns against neglecting marketing and frames every business (e.g., real estate) as fundamentally a marketing business.

So if you have a social media following, that's an asset. You just have to learn how to monetize the asset, how to connect with them, communicate and extract. Right. Don't. And I'm not saying spam, I'm not saying be douchey, but you have to talk. You have to learn marketing. Everyone here is in the marketing business first. If you do real estate, it doesn't matter what else you do. That's your product. Marketing is your business. It's just sometimes people get this twisted. If you get it twisted, you're in trouble. Marketing is your business.
