Two speakers debate whether work is necessary to keep society running. One reflects on recognizing your own worth and timing in your career, questioning the assumption that we need constant labor to sustain the world.
People criticized you and saying like we need people to work. We need people to do these jobs. What do you say to that?
We do. That's why the world exists. But that doesn't mean that's where I'm at today. I think what people don't realize is I'm 45 now. I'm not going to do what a 20 year old kid could do. They got to earn their chops, they got to earn the game and earn their stripes to get up to the level where they want to be. It's not for everybody, it's for somebody. The question is, who's that somebody? But the thing is, I'm not afraid to do the work. I'll work side by side with someone. But I've realized my worth in the game. Is it better for me to be in here sweeping the floors or out talking on a stage? Stage in front of 1, 500 people to make a connection? The guy fucking sweeping the floors ain't stepping on the stage yet. Why? Because they don't have the balls to yet. They don't have the confidence to yet. They haven't been through the storm to get to that point yet. It's not right or wrong. It's just a timing thing. It's a season of the journey.
