Short transcript excerpt from a YouTube discussion in which one speaker asks money managers how high-net-worth individuals allocate their capital — comparing cash holdings, equities, acquisitions of businesses, and reinvesting into their own businesses. The clip frames a practical, practitioner-focused question about where "real money" is placed by the wealthy.
Question for you because you guys have billions of dollars under management and all this stuff. Do you guys ever wonder what rich people do with their money? You're in the trenches. Wealthy people what's their allocation look like?
Cash versus.
Equities versus acquiring businesses versus hunkering down in their business. What are people doing to have real money?
There's a stage where most if not all of your wealth is tied up in your business that you're operating. As you go through years and you start to make money for different people it means different things. You may have a different risk appetite than you do for instance right now the environment a lot of people are in the treasuries and getting 5% ish on a pretty secured basis but yeah different mix of of allocations. The markets like the stock market is one thing if you have opportunities where you can make multiple times that potentially in buying another business or doing different things the the ultra wealthy are doing a little bit of everything.
