Restructuring Your Business to Fit Your Ideal Lifestyle

Mark Evans DM and Brian Sigman discuss building a business around the life you want, not the other way around. They debate whether to hire employees or use outsourced teams, and argue about what actually matters: time freedom and passive income, not just hitting a revenue number.

The goal is, I think the biggest thing I keep thinking about because I got two guests, I got one today, one tomorrow, is we need to stop talking about million dollar problems, start talking about billion dollar problems. We have a lot of cool stuff to cover and really this is about connecting and networking. It's not about me or you, it's about us right together, collectively. So what's the biggest thing holding you back? What's that one thing that can improve 100 things? What's the biggest, what's the connection you need that can like solve the problems that you're having today? And just talking about it and sharing it and going over, you know, how to grow and the goal is, I think the biggest thing I keep thinking about because I got two guys, I got one today, one tomorrow, is we need to stop talking about million dollar problems, start talking about billion dollar problems. We need to stop talking about like, you know, I need a players to like, dude, I have so many a players, I don't know how I'm gonna pay all these fuckers, you know what I mean? How do we expand and grow, get more family time, get more money time and do bigger stuff. So kind of want to just go around the room real quick because there's a lot of people here, which is awesome. Just like one minute like who you are, what you're, where you're from and kind of like what you do and what's like the one thing you want to walk away with? Kind of like I was asking like one thing, not a hundred. Obviously there's a lot of stuff, but start with you, Brian.
Yeah, Brian Sigman. I live in Washington D.C. i flip real estate in Charleston, South Carolina. And I don't really know, I mean, I'm just, you know, here to kind of fly on the wall, see what it's all about. Event. So gonna take it easy and super excited.
Well, what do you want? More time, more money?
Both. More, more passive income. I mean like the living business is fairly outsourced. So just diversify and be able to like have a business with less employees and kind of be more digital.
Why do you want less employees? You just don't like employees.
Yeah, just the management side of it. And I think there's a lot of people in here making very good living just doing things at their lake house, at the beach house. They don't need, they can do things digital and they don't need a huge massive team to do it.
So we're talking about lifestyle, right?
Yeah.
So one thing like I used to go down this rabbit hole.
Like, I don't want employees.
Cause I hate employees.
Yeah.
The truth is, I actually love employees. The right ones, right? And then I love the people that can manage them. But, dude, you should see the messages I got going on some stuff we're doing with Jace. I sent out a video to the whole team with 22 people. And, like, they're like. I mean, like, people are, like, saying really cool stuff, right? Like, these are employees, if you will. I call them team members. But, like, they're like, I would do anything. Tell me what I can do. I'm 100% there. Where does he need? Like, back in the day, dude, Like.
I'd see an employee.
I'm like, oh, Jesus, here we go.
Here we go.
What do they want from me? But, like, they'll actually, like, the right team will actually make you so much more money, you know? So I think it's a matter of the infrastructure and, like, our limiting beliefs about the team.
Team of VAs, then a team of, like, people that, you know, are, like, an acquisition manager, that's, like, just trying to learn it to leave basically, you.
Know, vas mean vagina animals.
Or.
I can't hire Vas for me because I'm like, yo, here's what I need. It's not like, what color green is that? Is that like, blah, blah, blah, blah, green and blah, blah? It's like, dude, green.
Yeah.
Like, I can't be so specific. With VAs, you have to be so specific. Not right or wrong. It's just. That's not how I function. I need people helping me get better, not me making them better, if that makes sense. Look, I don't want to be a dude. I'd rather pay you 100 grand a year than to make me better, than to figure out is $7.22 and, well, no, Laura, so I can get it for $7.13. It's like, who cares at this point? Again, what we focus on is what grows, and that that grows massive anxiety for me at.
The end.
