Happy Tuesday. Hope everybody's doing amazing over there. We're gonna get started here in a minute. We got everyone coming on, so please come on and give me a quick shout out. Let me know your name, city, and state. Today's topic, the price of everything. The lesson that your parents never taught you. This will be a big topic today. If you have questions, make sure you're thinking about it. Write them down. Let me know where you guys are from. Hey, good morning. Mike from Massachusetts. What's up, buddy? Thank you guys for being here. What's up, David from Dallas. Thank you very much for being here, guys. We're gonna get started here in a minute. Got some people coming on. Hope you guys had a good long weekend. Got some stuff done. Good morning, Dylan. Got a lot of cool things going on. Hey, why everyone's coming on. Again, thank you guys very much for making Magician versus Mule. Keep cranking it up. It's awesome to see what's up, Jim, North Carolina. What's up? Brad in Plano, Illinois. David in Cleveland, Ohio. As you guys are helping Magician versus Mule keep climbing the ladder over there on Amazon. I appreciate you guys. Means a lot to me. So thank you, guys. It's pretty cool to see. And if you guys have left a comment, thank you for that. If you haven't, the book was helpful, please do leave a comment over on Amazon. It'd mean a lot to me. Just let me know. You did it. And I appreciate it. Again, magician versus Mule. So today's topic is actually interesting topic. The price of every. The price of everything. And good morning. Good morning, guys. So the price of everything. What's up, Mike? Fort Worth. The price of everything. My question to you is how much does an assistant cost today? By the way, guys and gals, we're going about 25 to 30 minutes max. I have a hard. I have a hard time at 8:59 today. I got a big call at 9. Good morning, Sierra. Hope you have been doing amazing. What's up? The price? Can you put that back up there, Deacon? The price of everything. The lesson that your parents never taught you. How much does an assistant cost? That's the question. A good live Q and A. Put a number in. How much is a good assistant? What's the cost of an assistant? What's a good cost of an assistant where you're at? Everyone's from all over the country. We got people in North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts. Good morning, Brad. David says 15 an hour. Okay. In your book, 3,000amonth. Okay, 3,000amonth. 36,000 a year. 40K a year. JB says, what's up, JB? Hopefully he's looking with his good eye today. 40K here. So the cost is 30 to 50. 30 to 40. 15 an hour is what you guys see. But what I want to talk to you about is what I'd like to share with you today. Beacon, can you put the thing back up there? Again, not the assistant cost, but the price of everything. See, a lot of times what, you know, over the last couple weeks, I've been sharing with you guys about the value. And you guys see the price. You see the price of everything. You know, it's 15 an hour, it's 40k a year, this and that. Truly, what I do, I look at the value. Because what I'm really doing, the real. The real price is time. You guys know that, right? The real price that you're paying is your time. Here's the conflict with that conversation you're having. Everything you're trying to build and do you try to give up your time to do it. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you know, you're clear with that. But I'm giving up my time to do assistant work. I'm giving up my time to watch YouTube videos. I'm giving up my time. That's the price. That's the price you're paying. This is the commodity that you're giving so freely to everything and everywhere. And the more conscious you become of this, the more revenue you're going to generate. Not only that, the more value you understand. It's always interesting to me. Everyone knows the price of everything and yet value of nothing. Very few of you guys really, truly understand the value. I know it took me years and I still get caught up in this. You got to understand the value. When you can hire an assistant, let's say, for $40,000 a year, you're getting 40 hours a week back of your time, if not more. And that's only on the first hire. How is it that. Why are we never taught about understanding the power of leverage? You see, what's interesting about this time thing is that you have teachers and parents that's teaching you this, that don't even understand it. What we're talking about, all they care about is the price. I can't afford that. That's $16 an hour. What does that mean? See, like for example, I don't mow my lawns. I don't do my flowers. I don't clean my house. I don't do a Lot of shit. It's not because I'm too good to do it. It's because I understand the value of time. See, today's my mom's birthday. She's the big six zero. And I'd rather invest time and thinking about her, thinking about a cool gift, thinking about fun stuff to do, be around her, whatever. I'm in Florida, she's in Ohio right now. But when I get back up to Ohio, we'll have some cool things going on. I'd rather invest that time on thinking about how to make my mom's birthday amazing experience. I'm not saying you can't do this when you're cleaning your house, mowing your lawn, doing your dishes, doing your laundry and all that other stuff. But what I'm saying is that time is really what you're really seeking. So when you're trying to price everything out, like for example, people in business are always like trying to cut corners or cut cost on marketing cost. You understand marketing creates time. You understand your voice is heard. Let's say if you send 10,000 postcards out, you have the opportunity to be heard 10,000 times with one effort. I create the piece, I push send and it's out to 10,000 people. I create this video once this effort, it gets seen by thousands of people. I do it. Once you understand the value of time, you understand that cost is really, it's just a side piece of the thing. Why is it that all these different types of stores exist like the Walmart's and the Nordstrom's? Why is it like a high end online retail for a t shirt costs $50 and then you go online and buy it for seven? Why is it that some people will go on ebay and search something to save $7 for 12 hours when they can go online and just buy it and be done and move forward? It's almost like most people get a hard on to save a dollar because they don't really value the time. See, the thing is, you're focused on the price, not the results. You're focused on the price, not the time you can gain back. You see, every time I cut the check, I don't even do this. But my wife does. When we send the check or wire or however she pays the lawn care guy, I smile and say, thank God I just got back a lot of time. When we pay the housekeeper every week, thank God I got a lot of time. When we're paying the babysitter, thank God I'm getting a lot of my time. My wife's getting her time to focus on herself, to build our brain, to invest in herself and see. When you understand the value of time, you realize you're not living forever. You realize you're put on this planet for a very short amount of time on the grand scheme of things. You realize that you've been playing small. Yes, you have been playing so small. You realize that whatever you're doing. And again, I know some people. But Mark, I love to wash my car. I get it. But Mark, I love to do the lawn. I get it. But why do you keep saying that forever? Why is it. And it's all these pieces. Because you truly don't understand value. The price is your time. That's the price you're paying. You're sitting here investing your time. I take that very seriously. That's why I try to deliver real value to you. I have nothing to sell here except real life shit that could help make your life better. My goal is to challenge your thoughts. I hope you get pissed off. Hang up this video, shut this video off and get mad and do something about it. I'm not here to be your friend. I'm here to shake you up, to get you to reality, to help you grow and expand. Why is it people that are constantly saying the same things, never evolving? See, if you follow me for any time at all, you'll see me changing my conversations. You'll see me talking about higher stuff. You'll see me talking about bigger stuff. You'll see me talking about new stuff. Like, we're constantly evolving over here. And it's not like I'm sitting here saying, I'm working more. I mean, shit, we only have 24 hours of the day. You and I have the same amount of time. But the difference is, why are some people massively successful and some aren't? It's not because one's smarter than the other. It's just simply because one understands value. One understands the price they're willing to pay. And again, most people think it's money. Most people think it's money. There's a lot of cool hacks you can do with this whole thing as well. As you're developing and growing, you have to start hiring people. It's a mandatory thing you must do. Hire people to clean out your garage. Hire people to organize your closets. Hire people to clean out your house. Like, start. This is a muscle. You're working this muscle. You can very clearly hire someone to mow your lawn, paying 30 bucks a week, hundred bucks, whatever it costs. Get it Done. I have houses in Ohio. I have house here in Florida. It costs different prices at different areas. Then you got the pool cleaner. Then you got the guy cleaning the windows. I don't clean my windows. I don't clean my pool. I don't do shit around the house. That's the truth. Some people are like, yeah, but man, you got money, dude. I was doing the same thing when I didn't have that much money because I understood time. I was trying to buy time to think. I would rather sit back and do nothing is what you're thinking. But it's not nothing. I'm thinking. I'm plotting, I'm planning, I'm growing. I'm expanding. I might have audiobook in the background. I might be reading. I'd rather take that hour and read. I'd rather take that hour and go get healthier. I'd rather take that hour and preplan my meals. I don't even do that. I hire that. So it's like there's so many things that you can do when you understand the price of what it costs you. 40 hours a week for three grand a month, it's a steal. Think about how stupid this is. You're laying on your deathbed. Do you wish you worked more? See, I'm buying time to hang out with my family. I'm buying time to spend time with myself. I'm buying time to do the things I really want to do, to grow. I'm not saying I'm sitting around doing nothing. I'm expanding. I know my kids are five. One will be five, the other one just turned one. I know the time is of the essence. They're not going to be babies forever. It's going to happen overnight. They're going to grow up. They're going to be on their own. I cherish that time. That time. That time is worth more money than you could ever pay me. Anybody I know. Last week I talked to Beacon when he was on here. He's like, about, you know, you want your dream car? Go kill someone. Get 250. Get your dream car. Well, I won't do that. Well, that's good. I'm glad. He wouldn't, obviously, but what are you willing to do to get what you want? Really? What do you want? You want time. You want time to build, time to grow, time to expand. You want time to enjoy. What's holding you back from doing this? You think it costs money. That's what's holding you back. Be honest with yourself. Good morning, John. What's up Buddy, why is it some people are so much more successful than others? Besides understanding your time value? When you understand your time value, you're not dicking around watching everybody do everything. You're focused on you, the me economy. I don't care what you do. I really don't. It's awesome to see people succeed, but that doesn't do anything to make me succeed. You might have a different skill set than me. You might want more or less than me. You understand? All this data that you guys consume is half loaded data. It's swayed by your emotions, fear, missing out, fear of losing, fear of winning. There's a lot of different things here. You guys. You look at me and say, well, I want what Evans has got. Well, dude, it took me almost 24 years to get here and I'm not even anywhere where I want to be. Not even remotely close. I had massive anxiety. I barely slept last night. I have massive anxiety. I want to grow so big and so bad. I can't do that all by myself. We talked about that last week. It's not self made, it's teammate. I'm asking how am I pivoting with my team? I have a big call tomorrow with one of my team member one of my companies. It will change the footprint of that company forever 100%. Morning Darrell. What's up buddy? Detroit. But I have to, because I'm holding them back and they're holding me back. See, the problem is once things creep in my mind and I have time to think about it, there's nothing you could say or do that will affect it. Like if it's like, oh, Evans failed, cool. Oh, Evans is succeeding, cool. I don't believe either one. I just know I'm making a move that best suits where I'm at today and where I'm going in the future, it might be the wrong decision. It also could be the right decision. I might be scared or overwhelmed. Also, I'm excited and anxious. See, the thing is, is like I don't know how you make decisions. Truth is not most of you guys don't even make decisions. You guys talk about it, you think about it, you collaborate about it. You guys all circle jerky needs to other off to get to everyone talking about the same shit. I see it online all the time. Hey John, what do you think about this? Who cares what he thinks about it? Who cares? It means nothing. You could be in a totally different market. You can have a totally different business plan. It's half loaded data. Anybody that answers those questions, as long I don't think they're doing a purpose. They're not. It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean anything because they don't have context of the entire conversation. What do you mean? What I mean about the market? Well, dude, I tell you right now, there's some markets, we're crushing it in it. There's other markets that are not crushing it right now. Why? Because they could be on the coastlines. Maybe there's bad, maybe there's bad day to day operators. Maybe there, maybe there's just a bottleneck. I mean, there's a lot of amazing pieces that could happen. But what I'm trying to do is the price of everything is time. Is it time or being at peace with where you're at? I don't know what it means. Is it time or being at peace with where you're at? David, hop on the beak and tell them how to hop on. I don't know what that means. I'd like to know what that means. It's a pretty cool question. I think we're at peace where I'm at. First of all, I'm never at peace where I'm at. So I don't know if that. Again, maybe I'm reading that wrong. Good morning, Matt. The price of everything, your time. Why are you building this? Why are you stressing yourself out all day if you're not gaining more time? Why are you stressing yourself out and hustling and going through all these hurdles and pushing yourself to the next level when you're not gaining any more time? See, time freedom is an ultimate. It's the ultimate, ultimate, ultimate thing. But I can tell you, time freedom is not necessarily where you're just sitting around doing nothing with your time. It's just, you understand the value of time. Back to the story of why there's a Walmart and Nordstrom. It's because understanding the value. Guys, I grew up on Kmart clothes. I can tell you right now, Rustler jeans for $12 do not feel the same as, you know, sevens, you know, $300 jeans. I promise you, I know I've, I've had both. You know what I mean? So I'm telling you for a fact, the value is in the $300 jeans. But there's a bridge to get there. Mentally. It took me forever to even understand that. Right? I went to $12 jeans, the $50 jeans, the $100 jeans. And, you know, and there's differences on all these. You know what I mean? David? David's on what's up, David?
Mark, good morning. Good morning.
Good morning, buddy. Hey, great question. What's the question mean? So I understand, right?
So you were talking about how you experience some anxiety, right, at night, but you can also be at peace where you're at right now. Just be peaceful about it, be comfortable with it, and then move forward with thinking how to expand, how to be fully self expressed. But is it really time? That's important. Or maybe you're at peace with your time, the way you're spending your time now. I mean, the guy that's, that has the job, that's making minimum wage, he could be very happy and very comfortable.
No, he's not. He's a liar. What? You just said he's a liar. Dude, no one's told him the truth. There's no one. It's made at a basic job, just barely getting by that's happy. How could you be?
So you don't think there's a percentage of the populace that just, they're at the grocery store and they have a great relationship with their customers and listen.
I think they're happy at that level, but I don't think they're happy with their full life. I'm talking full picture here, not just one piece. That's why I'm anxious. I'm not happy with where I'm at. Because once you know what you're capable of, dude, how could you be? I'm satisfied, never happy. You know what I mean?
So what are you anxious about?
I mean, dude, there's so much opportunity right now. There's so many, you know. You know me, families, I feed hundreds. I have lots of employees, have lots of opportunities. My decisions, when I make a move, it affects a lot of people, you know what I mean? So I'm anxious about that because I take that all into consideration when I'm making big decisions, which I have tomorrow, I'm making a very big decision tomorrow. Something that's been in the works for 20 plus years. So like when you're doing that, like, dude, if you're not anxious, you're not developing, you know what I mean? Like, don't you get anxious to go on a vacation? Don't you get anxious to go on that date with your wife or girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever? Like you get anxious when you're about to have a kid. Like anxiety to me is all about growth in a positive way.
Right. And what you could say anxious, you could say excited.
Well, it's, to me, it's the same thing. Yeah. Because I mean Again, it's exciting, but it could also be bad if it goes the opposite way.
That's true.
That's true. You know, so thanks, I appreciate it.
Thanks so much. Thanks for letting me jump on.
No, man, thank you. I'd still like to understand, like, do you think guys that are at the grocery store that aren't living to their highest capacity is happy?
A lot of times I have these conversations with people that aren't. I own my own business, just like you. I'm in the real estate business. And a lot of people, they're just not interested. They want a safety net. They want to know that they're getting a paycheck at the end of the week or a month. You know, they don't want the anxiety, they don't want the risk. So I found a lot of those conversations. It's not my job to convince them.
Oh, for sure. No, 100%. I mean, I'm not here to convince anybody. I think the biggest thing though is what you're saying is like, how many of those people are. 30 are part of the 30 million people got laid off. Where's the safety net now, dude? I think there's so much false security out there. That's my biggest fear in life is people lying on their laurels thinking that things are safe. How can you. How 76% of the world doesn't even have over $2,000 in the bank. That's sad, dude. And you got kids and you got like how in the world. And you're semi healthy. What happens if you get sick for a week? You're in trouble, you know? So like, I think people like I again, I grew up in small town Ohio. So like people are very happy, dude. Like they're high five and they're up at 5am at the same restaurant every morning talking the same stuff. But like time is really like, dude, time is not on their side. If they're not having money in the bank, if they're not developing, you know, you know. So I hope everyone's happy. That's the ultimate goal, but that's just not the case. But for you, man, what kind of market are you in? In real estate?
So I'm in the foreclosure business, mostly distressed assets. So I'm a courthouse that buyer. And so we buy.
People still buy on the courthouse.
I mean, we. We've been off for the last two months. It may go in June.
We'll see.
As you know, the federally backed mortgages, there's been moratorium on those, but they may Move some vacant property. We're waiting to hear from. From the clerks.
How do you run your business with that going on? Actually, that's interesting. Are you able to still acquire. Are you still acquiring through other people?
Right, right. So that's exactly what we did. We, we. We. We switched over to buying from the wholesale market. So we started contacting wholesalers, and I think I bought two last month on wholesale. And we're finishing up projects. We had a null on sales. Right. So, yeah, yeah, lockdown with a lot of stuff that dropped out of contract, but now it's coming back and people are coming out and seeing houses again. If you got vacant houses like we do, then that's where we're seeing a lot of traction.
What market are you in?
I'm in Dallas.
Oh, Dallas. Nice. You guys got a great market, though, man. Seriously. I mean, you got. The good news is a lot of people are moving there.
Yeah, very happy to be here.
Great place, the hot market. And I think a lot of Californians will be out there soon, too. Well, Austin area, right? Dallas Worth, all that. Good luck, man. Thank you for the question. Jake Ryan, Newark. I'm actually from Bucket. I'm from Thurston, which is not too far from you, about 30 minutes. But guys, so back to this, like, time thing. Like, it's a very interesting thing. So what David was asking is like, I don't believe. I believe most people are not. I think they say they're happy, but I don't think they truly understand what they're like. How are you happy if you're settling? How are you happy if you don't have what you need or want? How are you happy if you're healthy today but you can't take care of your parents that are not healthy today? How are you happy that you're driving a shitty car when you could be driving a nicer car? How are you happy when you're still living in the same apartment when you should leave? I think people just. I don't think for a fact. People just settle, and then we create this conversation in our head that makes it okay to settle. And then we smile and we're just happy. And you know, where I grew up, this is my hometown. I'm telling you, I see this every day everywhere as a child. And I'm telling you, they go home and they're crying. They go home and they're scared. They get sick for a moment. It's bad news. We're seeing it happen more. It's never been more visible of how Familiar, fake, happy people are. Because 30 million people are on unemployment now. There's safety net has been dropped from under them. And I know some people are getting paid more than they've ever been paid to. But also there's a whole other side market that most people never talk about that are getting crushed. And how are you happy? Listen, I'm not happy. It's happening and some of my businesses do get affected. But I can tell you right now it doesn't affect my lifestyle because I have these businesses are run. My business don't run me. I run my businesses. Let me say it again. My businesses don't run me. I run my businesses and I am emotionally attached to them. Don't get me wrong there. But like the thing is, I have multiple businesses that have different streams of revenue. I don't put all my eggs in one basket like a lot of people talk about because then you can watch the basket. Business is business. And some streams dry up and some streams grow. Right now I'm tinkering around, not tinkering. I'm expanding drastically into a big seven figure model with per month with something that's brand new to me and more of the financial sector. It's brand new, it's hot, it's been going well, the stock market world and there's a lot of cool opportunities there. Right now it's crazy to not think about that. I'm investing a lot of my time to learn about it. I've hired some great people to help me grow it. And you know, I'm sitting back and pulling the levers and I think that's what we need to do is like, we need to understand though, every time you're making these decisions not to hire someone or not to push the pedal a little harder, you gotta ask yourself why. I'm talking to a buddy that's moving from west coast to east coast right now. And I'm like, dude, document your emotions. Your emotions like to tend to mess with you. You start to feel anxiety, like you're losing control. You start to act like you're like all dude, you're just being, you know, a spoiled brat. You're, you're getting overwhelmed with opportunity, you're getting overwhelmed with fear. All these emotions are happening. But I can tell you, I promise 100% would not be where I'm at in my life today if I didn't take off traveling. It's true. 12-31-05 is when Dina and I took off to South Beach, Florida for one week. Excuse me, one month. Turned into two and a half years, which turned into seven years around the world, traveling. We were in the US for a long time and then around the world. And I'm telling you, every time I traveled, I get, I'd get unscared a little bit less. Because guys, you gotta. You are an amazing individual. We don't give ourselves enough credit because we're so busy being busy and we hear all the bad stuff and we see what we don't have as opposed to what we do have. Drop you off anywhere in the world, you'd be amazed at what you're capable of. You know, and I've been there and I get it, it's scary. I was actually. Massive anxiety, dry heaving. I was scared, but I was more afraid of what I knew than what I didn't know. Let me say it again. I was more afraid of what I knew than what I didn't know. See, I didn't know if I went to Florida, my business would collapse. I didn't know if I'd lose everything. I didn't like. I was so afraid of what I knew. I don't want to just be here in this little guy. I'm a big fish in a small pond. I don't want to be that. I want to be the minnow in the ocean. I then turn into a bigger fish, just grow. I don't want to be capped out at an 8 inch fishbowl. And I see so many people do it and I listen. I'm happy when I take care of my parents. I'm happy when I take care of my family and people I care about. I'm happy when my employees are buying their dream homes and their cars. Actually this weekend, Sunday, I was on the boat with four people, five people I work with, hanging out, talking about life and business and expansion and growth. Not talking about high school football plays and all this other stuff. We're talking about like where we're at, where we're going, who can we bring on the team? Hey, you know this. Let's bring them on. Like, we're looking for expansion constantly. Hey. Remembering how to win friends and influence people, a quote by Andrew Carnegie in the steel business was asked why he became the most successful steel baron in the country. And he said, I really don't know much about the steel business, but I hire the smartest people in the industry and hold them accountable to deliver results. I like that, Dave. And that's where we're at. I'm in the people business. I'm, you know, it just Happens that some is in real estate, some is in tech, some is in stock, some is, you know, someone's in suit supplement space, some is in media, some is in publishing. I have all these different channels and some is in the franchise side. But at the end of the day, all I do know is all I want you guys to do is I. You know, I've been very fortunate to understand what we're talking about here. Not just understand, I don't. I still understand 100%, but explain.
Experience.
Waking up when I want, I get up early. But having discipline to do that. Being able to hang out and kiss my kids in the morning, say good morning, love you when they go to bed, say goodnight, love you, be there side by side with them, be able to have lunch, dinner, whatever I want. It's my decision. And while someone's mowing my lawn, I could be sitting there eating breakfast or someone's cleaning the pool. I could be talking about where little Mark's going to go in his life or talk about coins or read him a book. And again, I'm not saying you can't mow your lawn. I'm not saying all that. I'm just talking in general terms here. But as an individual, if you're still mowing your lawn 10 years from now, if you're still cleaning your house, there's a disconnect of understanding the price of what it really takes. You're better than that. You deserve more than that. If you put the effort in to get it. And the effort's not necessarily in the work, it's in the brain to get the work done. Promise you, it's an amazing feeling to be able. You could call me up and, you know, like, we could do. Be anywhere whenever we want. We don't have to plan it. We don't have to call our boss and get taken time off. We don't have to like, well, I can't take this week off, but I could do two weeks from now because there's seniority and all that. Like, I'm not knocking it. It's just, dude, you're an adult. Do you really need someone to tell you when and when you can't take off? And then the people brag like, dude, I got 73,000 vacation days saved up. Okay, well, it's like a battery. I'll talk about this tomorrow. But you have 24 hours in your battery every day. Every decision you make, every decision you make takes away from that charge. You better hope that you're recharging it randomly throughout the day on purpose. Not randomly, but like on purpose through efforts. So what's up then? Thinking about you guys. I told you, I gotta go. I love this topic. I'd love more to hear from you guys. If you need help on anything, let me know. Hit me up private message me if you guys need anything. I'm here. Have an amazing day. Make today count. Peace.
