The speaker uses an anecdote about a mechanic fixing a boat motor in five minutes to illustrate that clients pay for accumulated expertise, not minutes of labor.

What I always be careful with is selling time versus value. You know, it's like you've heard that saying where the guy like, I think there's a ship, you know, the motor's not running. You have a thousand guests on there. They call him up, it's $10,000. He comes in there, he. He hits on it for five minutes and fixes it and it's done. He's like, $10,000. I'm like, wait, you're only here for five minutes. He's like, you didn't pay me for five minutes. You paid me for my knowledge in the last 30 years of where to hit for five minutes. Like, it's not. I go for value I'm not going for. No one's going to pay me what I'm worth per minute. I want to get pa and I'm willing to get zero if I don't provide value. And I'm willing to get a lot for the value I bring.
