What the hell does The DM actually stand for?|Cigars and Coffee w_ TheDM! EP.021

Mark Evans explains that DM stands for dealmaker, and argues successful people make deals with themselves: investing in education, mentors, and habits. He uses a 2005 AdSense experiment and childhood stories to show how belief systems about money and seizing opportunity during obstacles shape entrepreneurial success.

Thursday, right? Happy Thursday. It's that time. Cigars and coffee with the DM representing dm. Dm. Everything's backwards, right? However, anyways, hope you guys are doing amazing. Want to share with you, what does the DM stand for and why you should care? Well, you probably shouldn't care. Maybe you should, maybe shouldn't. I don't know. I'm going to share it with you here today. What's up? Good morning, Mike. Darrell, Randall. What's up? From Ohio. What part of Ohio? Randall? Guys, let me know where you're from. I'm originally from Columbus, Our east of Columbus, Ohio, called. Small town called Thurston. 650 people. 666 to be exact, I believe. No cops, no stoplights. It's a township. Actually. It's. It's not even. We're not even like a. A real place. What's up? Good morning, John. Good morning, Nick. As I'm sitting out back in the garage, I should say out front in the garage today. What's up, Dylan? What's up, Randall Mansfield, my man. In between Columbus and Cleveland. I like it. My buddy used to be out there. Good morning. So what does the DM stand for? Many of you guys know dealmaker, right? And that's what it ultimately means at the end of the day. What's up, Dave? But really what it means as well for me is dream maker. It's for my mom, for my family, originally for my mom. She's always like, hey, you're my dream maker, you allowed me to make dreams come true and blah, blah, blah, blah, stuff like that. So that's a feel good piece, right? Because deal making and prodding and pushing Doctor of Money, it's not Dungeon Master like some people might think, but it's dealmaker. And to be a deal maker, you have to really know. And I'm not saying the deal maker just to do deals, but a genuine deal maker, you're always conscious of wanting to help other people at all levels, not just in business. Deal making in your life, deal making in your business, deal making in relationships, deal making with all. I mean, it's, it's. It never ends. Hey, good morning, Christopher. What's up, Tony? What's up, guys? So dealmaker to me has always been like, when I kind of fall off track, it's like, dude, you're a deal maker, you gotta get back on track. And the reason is I made a deal with myself to be a better version of myself every day. See, a lot of people see it as all you're Just a deal maker. No, dude. Like, I made a deal with myself that I want to be the best dad, the best husband, the best business owner, the best friend, the best brother, the best husband. All these pieces. I want to be the best. And I'm not the best at any in all of these because I want to be a better version tomorrow than I am today. No matter if I'm. If I'm feeling good today or not. What's up, Dan? But as I'm sitting here, you know, in the morning, today, just overwhelmed, right? With gratitude. Dangerous mfer. There you go. Overwhelmed with gratitude. You see a lot of people get overwhelmed. I talked about this on Monday, I believe, about being dungeon master. There we go. What's up, Brad? What's up, Bratz? They get overwhelmed with stuff. Like, overwhelmed like, oh my God, I gotta do this, I gotta do this, I gotta do that. And I've been. We all get there, we've all done that. But there's another side of momentum that people don't really talk about. A lot is about getting overwhelmed with gratitude and getting excited about, oh my God, I can create what. Yesterday was a very big day in our companies, across the board, financially generated a lot of money as well. You get smacked in the face on that process. But I'm just grateful to be in the mix. I'm just grateful to be here in the opportunity zone where we're at today. You know, this morning I was out walking. I got up at 4 o' clock this morning, I couldn't sleep. I was just like, again, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I'm like, I can't wait to get up. I got stuff to do. I want to, I want to help, I want to do more. I want to make more. I want to, you know, make more impact, that is. And have some good conversations. I had a couple bunch, three conversations today already before I got here. But what's up, Pat? What's up, Nick? But it's deal maker. What deal are you making with yourself? Are you okay with where you're at? See, I'm not happy with my fitness. I'm not happy with my opportunities. Difference maker. There we go. I'm not happy with where I'm at in any way, shape or form. You know, listen, and I'm not saying I'm taking away from happiness. I just, I know. And anybody that's done something successful or in life, business and health, whatever, once you go to the gym and you start to see a little bit transformation, you start getting more excited because you know that you have another gear in you or if you do a deal and you make a couple dollars, you're like damn, if I could only do more. What does it look like? I remember early 2005 ish March of 05 there was a thing called Google Adsense still exists. It's an advertisement platform on Google that Google owns now. I was an old school hillbilly Ohio boy doing real estate chest to chest, getting checks, talking business 247 like working like a madman. And I loved it. But I paid this guy 50 grand to teach me how to generate leads online. And this is 2005. So you're hearing this. 2020 sounds like crazy. And this is a basic squeeze page. This is a page with a name and email and I'll send you more information. 7 fatal flaws of Real Estate Investors would be exactly what it's called. Because what I realized in 05 is that if I don't adapt, I will die. And the Internet was starting to pick up some pace then people were talking about, obviously I was, I was even behind the eight ball back then. And I started adapting and I paid this guy 50 GS. I sit down with him for a day in Georgia and he built this page, thank you page. And on that page it was my article that I wrote. Seven fatal flaws. And in that article there was Google Adsense. There was ads placed by a third party company. And every day I would refresh, refresh. And then one day it happened. I pushed refresh and I made 10 cents. I was already making semi decent money by then in real estate. But, but, but I made 10 cents off of a $50,000 investment. I was ecstatic. Ecstatic is an understatement. It changed my life in many levels because I took concept theory and got proof of it that it actually could work. Now that I saw something come from it. 10 cents. My, my mindset immediately went to I don't even know what I just did and I made 10 cents. What if I actually invested some more time into this and turned that 10 cents into $100 thousand still today. And my AdSense business, like my websites that I don't even have to, I don't have to sell anything. We generate close to $30,000 a month net from that side of the business that's been going on for a long time. And you can do more. But what's interesting about that, once you start doing more, you realize there's different profit channels in that environment as well. That's just one path, one stream of income. On the website on my websites, I have many streams of income and I own a bunch of websites now once I've realized the power of this. But I can tell you this, the deal I made with myself is that I would always invest in myself. Always, now, forever, forever. I will never not invest in myself either. Reading books, investing in mentors, investing in mastermind groups, investing in people and relationships. I'm telling you, it's real. When you open up the door of investing in yourself, I would actually like to ask you guys, there's a lot of people here, how much on average per year are you investing in yourself? Is it zero? Is it a dollar? Is it a hundred thousand dollars? Like how much are you investing in yourself? So when I invested that $50,000 and again you're starting with where you're starting at, so I'm not judging you. But when I first started investing in myself, it was a book, it was called Think and Grow Rich. I bought a book for 20 bucks. That was my investment. That was a big deal back then because I never learned this concept of investing in yourself after you graduate high school, right? So I read that book, I remember playing his day and I'm like, oh my God, this makes sense. This makes sense to me. Right? Like holy cow, I get the concept. We've all heard the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Well, there's no disconnect as to why this happens. It's very simple and clear. What are the rich talking about that the poor aren't talking about and vice versa. Now I grew up with not a lot of money and great people financially. We're talking about getting a 5 cent raise. That's what I heard. As opposed to how do we acquire a company and make millions of dollars? Massive cut. Different conversation. Brandon, 55 to 80k year. Stenson, 25k a year. Awesome. Dylan, 2500 or so. Great. Also investing in relationships, it's awesome. But as the rich get richer, it's not because we're better than you. It's not, it's not that. The truth is they're deal making, they're conversating, they're connecting and they're talking about things to grow from. My experience, when I say poor, it doesn't mean, you know, you can't be successful. Like I think people have this weird negative condensation like oh my God, you're poor, you can never be unpoor. Like it's a decision. That's it. Today the results might not match where you're going, but for me I'm broke for where I'm going. I'm like, I'm piss poor to where I'm going. And until you understand like how much you're worth, nothing's going to change. You won't appreciate or value your conversations. You won't get curious about opportunity. You won't check your ego at the door because you're too cool. Your ego stopping you from being successful because you actually have to ask for help because you don't know the answer. If you know the answer, why aren't you doing it? You clearly don't know the answers. I don't know anything. See, it's funny to me. How do broke people know all the answers about money? How would you ever hire a 400 pound person to teach you how to get six pack abs? You're worth so much more than you give your credit self. Your self credit for. You're worth so much. Your mom and dad still did. Yeah, for years. Do you believe it now? Listen, talk is cheap. It's always funny to me, everyone. Do you believe in tithing? Right, Like I'll use this as an example. If you believe, truly believe in tithing, meaning that you give 10% or whatever and the tenfolds, right? It's a universal law. If that's the case, why aren't you trying to become a reverse tither? Because you don't really believe it. You might believe it a little, but be honest, you really don't believe it. Because if you did, wouldn't you give it all and get more, give it more, get it all again. Like it just keeps growing. I do find it very interesting that we say a lot of stuff but we really don't believe a lot of the shit we say. We're regurgitating thoughts of other people. Listen, talk is cheap. Action is where the real opportunity exists. It's funny to me, I was talking, some guy messaged me yesterday, he's like, yo man, I talked to you three years ago. I had the money to invest with you. I didn't invest with you. I've been kicking myself every day since I did not invest with you. And I want to now. He didn't see the value in himself enough to willing to invest in himself. See with mentors and masterminds and all that I always say you're not really, you're sort of investing in the person. Obviously delete the guy doing it or gal, but you're ultimately really doing it for you. I mean why do people go to Harvard and why do people go community college? It's kind of the same path, way different results typically. But like, you still can be massively successful no matter where you go, right? It's individualized. It's like an individual thing. Like, what is your worth? Are you worth millions of dollars? Like, not only that, if you think books truly do make you massively successful, which I think you can start the path. Why isn't everyone rich? It's your belief system. That's why. The answer is real simple. It's your belief system. If you ever condone anybody for having money ever. Why in the world would you ever get rich? Because you hate rich people, so you're gonna hate yourself. See, we have that weird thing like if we tell ourself certain things and we actually believe it, we actually will create what we tell ourselves. Go figure. Like, I believe I should be fat and poor or I should be rich and healthy. Listen, it's easy to say these things, but really, do you believe in these things? You can say what you want. Results speak louder than words. If you're overweight and poor, it's your fault. It's no one else's fault. If you're rich and fit, it's your fault too. It's no one else's fault. See, when you accept responsibilities for these conversations, this is real talk conversation, by the way. And by the way, you getting stupid rich doesn't take away from me getting stupid rich or anybody else for that matter. We all can be wealthy. There's so much money out there. Everyone can be wealthy because just because I want X billions of dollars. Maybe you're wealthy at $100 million or 10 million. Whatever your number is. Everyone has different wealthy numbers or different wealthy thoughts or different physical look thoughts, different dedication to get the result that we want. Everyone's different. Dan Z. Great content once again. One of the biggest reasons I wouldn't take on a mentee is when they ask the cost. If they see it as a cost, they can't. And their beliefs are offline. Absolutely. It's never the cost. It's the value. When I set out to become a deal maker, I didn't even know what it was. I knew I was making deals with myself called journaling. Mark, you're worth whatever you believe you're worth. Mark, you're willing to do whatever it takes to get the results you want. Mark, you have to care for yourself and you have to care for others. Right. Yourself first. It sounds very selfish and it is. But on the grand scheme of things, it's not selfish at all. I actually would Say it's unselfish of you to take care of yourself first because you have all these big dreams, big goals, big visions, and you're actually going to accomplish them. Well, if you die today and you're not taking care of yourself today, and you're not able to pay your bills today, you can't do the big things you've set out to do. You've been tapped, if you will, on the shoulder by the higher power to give you this opportunity. And you're gonna piss it away by not doing what you're supposed to do. The deal starts with you, first and foremost. And when you make that deal, where I come from, you shake the hand. You shake hand. It's. It's a deal, period. I don't give two shits what that contract says. A deal is a deal. This is where people fall short. They're looking for ways to get out of things. I'm looking for ways to get in things. Big difference, massive difference. I'm looking for the value. The majority of the world's looking for the cost. Big difference. When I say it's a million dollars, a lot of money, first thing, you think that's a lot of money. Well, we don't know if it's a lot of money or not. What the hell are we talking about? It's a lot of money for a sucker. 25 cent popsicle. It's not a lot of money for a 25 million dollar house. If you can get a 25 million dollar house for a million dollars. Now, a million dollars is not a lot of money at all. Until your beliefs about money change to yourself and you make this deal with yourself about money that it's infinite, that it has zero emotion, that you're worth more than you're giving yourself credit for, that you're capable of so much. Do you understand? If you pulled a billion dollars out of the world right now, it wouldn't even know it wouldn't even recognize it wouldn't even know you existed. A billion. Probably way more. A billion dollars. It's like, it's literally like a teardrop in the ocean. I don't think you guys really actually understand how much money is out there. I'm in the world of money and I'm still amazed by it. So I get it. But you got to ask yourself if your belief system is serving you or taking from you. This is the thought auditing process. Why do you believe about money the way you believe? These are deal I've been making with myself as I'm Making money. Today I'm giving away guys. 100% of all my books sells go to charity. I'm always looking for ways to donate more money. I'm always. And I'm not saying this is easy, by the way. This is a muscle, right? And I love that people say, mark, I'm going to give 10% once I hit a million dollars. No, you're not. You're lying to yourself and you're stealing from the future and you're in the world. Because if you can't give away 10% when you make $100, you sure now ain't giving 10% when you make a million dollars. I promise you that. That's like walking into the gym. Haven't been in there in 10 years and throwing up 300 pounds to bench press. It ain't happening. It ain't happening, right? This is a muscle. You have to work. Borrow my belief or someone that you know that has a good belief about money and tie to them, as my boy Jonathan Rivera says, borrow a belief system that will serve you. Your belief systems come from somewhere. Your thoughts are coming from somewhere. They've. They've been established and anchored somewhere. Mike Aguilaro, I had on a couple weeks ago. You know, I call it mindset. He's like, no, it's not mindset. It's mind reset, mind momentum or something like that. Your mindset's already set. We got to change it though. We got to re pivot it, we got to redevelop it, we got to un program you. Do you think, what do you feel? What do you think about when you drive by and you see a 25 million dollar mansion? What do you think about? Do you get excited? Do you picture yourself in the house? Do you think they're like untouchable? Do you think they're doing something magical that you can't do? Or do you think those SOBs rip people off? They're bad people. They're scam artists. They're the horrible human beings. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. How embarrassing. They should be ashamed of themselves. You know how many families you could feed with all that money that you pay for the house and this and that, this and that. That's your belief system. If you're the lauder of that and you're talking shit about that person or that house. Yeah, by the way, you're not talking about the person. I'm about the house. You realize you could never be in the house until you change that belief system. Never, ever. And I'm using the house. As a visual representation. But I'm talking financially, period. Just can't happen. Some of my best times by myself or with my family is when I'm driving down A1A. I look at the left and look to the right. One side is the ocean, the other side is 20, 30, 40, 50, 125 million dollar mansions line down the A1A. I'm not thinking scam artists rip people off, blah, blah. By the way, some of them have and some of them do probably. But that shit's going on everywhere at all levels. It's going on in the hood and it's going on in the mansions. Like it's going on everywhere. But that's not the majority. You have to realize until you change your belief about your deal making to yourself, nothing changes. Ryan said means daddy and mommy. Is it kind of interesting that I'm the deal maker? DM My wife's name's Dina. D. My name's Mark. Mark. My son's name's Mark. My daughter's name's Drea. Dreams. Deal maker. Go figure. I didn't plan that. Clearly I'm not that smart if you can't tell. But what do you think about. Back to this money stuff. If you see someone driving a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, what do you think? What do you think about? And you don't say it out loud. You already know instantly when I say you probably get weird feeling excited. I'm using materialistic things because that's how we connect. That's how we visualize things. We see it. But picture this. I was thinking about this today when I was talking to my buddy Jeremy. I'm like, dude, what's if I called my parents today, amazing people. They said, I just want you kids to be happy and healthy. And I want to be happy and healthy. The problem with that is what does that mean? I understand what happy means and healthy means. But let's say we all are happy and healthy today. What's happy mean though? See, happy is a very interesting term. What makes you happy? You know what makes me happy? Making a lot of money and helping a lot of people. Because picture this, let's say I am happy and healthy today, but I have no money in the bank or I have 10 grand in the bank or 100 grand in the bank. That's no money, by the way, on the grand scheme of things. It's nothing. I get a call, mark, someone you care about greatly is going to die in 30 days or less. They need a million dollars to save their Life for this treatment. My happiness is no longer there. I'm sad. Most importantly, I become a victim. Now I'm angry and now I spiral down. Do you understand? We're all hopefully healthy and everything's hunky dory right now. It is not going to be that way forever. You know that, right? You could die today, get sick today, have a life altering moment that this second you could get the phone call that we're all going to get one day. Our parents, our kids, our spouse, people we care about or love about are sick or dead have died. You never know it's going to happen. Just a matter of when and what. Where are you at in that line? Let's hope they're not calling for me. Let's hope I'm being called about. Like this is real stuff and I don't want to ever have to say, well I don't, I can't afford that treatment. Let's go the alternative route and do the cheapest treatment and hope like hell and pray. Listen my man, prayer is awesome. Prayer don't save lives, only oftentimes. You're gonna need some cash to back up that prayer. We need to get real. You cannot. You can act like it's, you know, unicorns and rainbows out there, but the deal I made with myself is shit. Hits the fan, called me, I'm gonna take care of it. We're gonna figure it out. This could be a million, this could be 10 million, this could be a hundred, who knows? Here's what I do know. I'm preparing for the ultimate worse. And I need to be liquid at a massive level and I need to get there sooner than later. And I need to protect my downside and grow my upside. I need to invest in myself to do that. Because if I knew how to do it, I'd keep doing it. Right? Victoria I think about people in Ferrari, they got a million dollar job that I can't get. You're right. Figure it out. It's not a job. By the way, I don't know anybody that's got a million dollar job. It's driving a Ferrari. I know a lot of people have multi million dollar businesses driving Ferraris, but I don't know anybody's got a job. Why they wouldn't drive the Ferrari? Because they'd be embarrassed to their colleagues. They'd be judged. Most of the wealthiest people I have met have gone out of their way to help me more than the average person. Dylan I agree. See, money buys you time and we have time to help People that want to help themselves. Job and finance. Love the morning talks. Thank you, John. Having a deep impact on my thinking. Finance job. Hedge fund. Again, Victoria, I'm not your person. I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I don't have a job, I don't talk about jobs. If that's what you want to go get, go get a job. Job to me means just over broke. I don't think a hedge fund person has a job in my experience. I know some hedge fund guys, they are rogue investors and they are mean machines. So I don't know what your thinking is or what your thoughts are on that but nor do I care. It's that's my thoughts on because I know the truth. These guys are. They're sharks. Be careful who you model. Be careful who you borrow belief from. Be careful what your thoughts are. I have zero desire to be a hedge fund. Zilch. Find what you want, not with what you think you want because they have what you want. You understand? There's people. I know a person. She lives in a million dollar house, free and clear. She makes 60,000 a year. She's happier than she's ever been in her entire life. She's healthier, she's happier and she used to make way more. And what she realized is that happiness for her look different. Now keep in mind she has an amazing, you know, amazing financial wherewithal. She's not a big spender, she's very frugal with in her own right. I mean she has nice house, nice car sales and stuff. But like again everyone has a different path. Everyone thinks about different stuff. You know, I'm not saying my stuff's right by the way. I don't, you know, that's judgmental. I don't know, I'm just sharing what I know about financial beliefs. I've seen it, I've experienced it. I've been ultra poor and I've been okay wealthy like and I'm not even remotely close to being close to half the people I know. So there's so much more opportunity and the more I realize what's available to us as an individual. By the way, this is my responsibility is I have to learn more, I have to push the needle harder. I have to surround myself around better people and I have to be more conscious and keep deal making with myself. See, dealmaker to me is not just a name or a brand. It really is, it's my life. It's on everything I have. It's on my license plates. It's on my shirts, on my hats, on my cups, it's on my jet tails. It's on everything. My model Jet Town. I don't want to jet yet. But there's something to be said about all this. I believe I wouldn't be here today if I didn't make these deals with myself. I made the deal to be here with you every morning at 8:30 in the morning. Who's here every morning at 8:30 in the Morning? Me. I don't have to be here. Want to be here. I genuinely want to be here. Because stuff I'm talking about I don't even think is a big deal because I'm in it. And I'm not saying it'd be weird. I'm just being honest. Like I'm in it. Like the Magician versus Mule book. By the way, thank you guys for keep ordering that. You guys should all order that book, Magician versus mule dot com. I'm getting testimonials daily, multiple, multiple times a day, which is amazing. So thank you guys for that. And by the way, if you guys did buy it and it's impacted you in any way, shape or form, share it as well as please leave a comment on Amazon and let people know what's up. I appreciate that, but to me it's like we don't, we're so close to it, we don't even know it's a thing until you talk to people and they're like, dude, that's insane. Like, how do you think like that? Why do you think like that? Whatever. You know what I mean? Thank you, Mike. Thank you, Darrell. Really. Money buys time, right, Darrell? That's what we're talking about. So we're buying time. Money buys time. The magician, like, you know, like I talked about yesterday is my buddy mentioned about the Abe Lincoln thing. You know, he's got six hours to chop down a tree, spends four and a half hours sharpening the ax, right? We have to realize that as you sharpen the axe, that means, you know, that's our self, right? Reading, working out, taking health care. Like planning, preparing to be successful. Sounds weird, right? Planning to be successful every day. If you're not planning to be successful, what's the alternative? Another day, another dollar? It's not true. This isn't just another day. This is a gift for you and me. It's not another day, it's a gift. Are you gonna keep, keep wasting them or maximizing them? Dealmaker, you got to make the deal with yourself first. It starts with you. I see so many great people, their kids are watching them making half assed deals with themselves. Most importantly, not keeping any deals with themselves. Kids are smart, man, they'll figure this stuff out. They're watching. Deal make to me is so much bigger. I don't want to let people down, myself included. And you have to make the deals big. What's up, Michigan? What's up, Paul? You have to make these deals big, man. You're worth so much more. Invest. Question is, is how do you invest 100,000amonth? Excuse me? 100,000 plus a year in yourself. That's the question. Not like how do I get free mentoring from someone by helping them. The truth is, I'm so busy, if you said I'll work for free, I wouldn't even hear you. Because I'm too busy. I'm looking for people to produce. I don't, I don't care about 50 grand a year. I care about what can we produce together in alignment or whatever the number is, right? How do you invest 100 grand a year, Mark, I've never made a hundred grand a year. It's not my problem. That's your problem. Figure it out. Like, I don't know what to tell you. That's the problem in itself. How do you invest? That's the deal you need to make with yourself. That's the question you should be asking. And you don't come out the gate investing 100 grand. There's people on here watching me that have over 100 grand sitting in accounts everywhere, credit lines, accounts, all that. But don't spend money on themselves in any way, shape or form for investing in themselves. But damn well be sure if a football game is going on, they'll be there, front line. If their basketball game, they're gonna be sitting on courtside. If there's a new shirt that comes out, they're gonna buy for 200 bucks or a new car or whatever. Because they gotta look the part. See, that's the difference. That's what's kind of funny about investing in yourself. No one really sees it. It's not like you're parking it out front of your house and saying, that's my new car. Check out my Hyundai Elantra. That's me right there. 32 GS, yo. Nope. Sitting in the room all by yourself, you just drop 35 GS on a mastermind. No one sees it except you and your person in the room with your spouse, maybe your kids. But most importantly, you. Most won't do it. Too scared. You don't believe in yourself enough. That's what it is. You don't believe that you will actually take the information and do something with it. You don't actually believe being in a room with rich, successful people will help you become rich and successful. You're going to have imposter syndrome. Dude, I've made millions of dollars. I'm in a room with multimillionaires and billionaires and I feel like, dude, I don't even know what the hell I'm doing here. How'd they let me in here? Well, I ponied up. I paid the money. That's how. You know what I mean? That's how. That's the entry free fee. You do it with clubs, you do it with those, you know, the golf clubs community, the, you know, whatever golf course communities and tennis communities and clubs, whatever you belong to. You're buying into a community, you're buying into a club. It's kind of what a mastermind is. You need to make it a point to invest in yourself every single week, every single day. Let alone every single week, month and year. Keep score. Like, most people are embarrassed. Like, oh, dude, I spent $27 on a book. I'm like, yo, I just dropped. I spent a hundred. I did spend 100 GS for three meetings. 100 grand for six days. And again, you're not investing to get in the room. You're investing for who's not in the room. There's 25 of us that each paid 100 grand. Do you think something could happen from that room? If you do, why the hell aren't you in there? Because you're all talk. You're all talk, dude, you're all talk. You're so full of shit, you actually believe your own shit. That's the truth. You're all talk. Until you get off your high horse, until you get off your king of the dipshit mountain. Nothing's going to change. Nothing will change. Except you're losing time. You're feeding momentum. The question is, which side are you feeding? Positive or negative momentum? Because it works both ways. I'm more worried about the time you're wasting. The only commodity you'll never be able to get back is time. Money comes and goes. Time. It's gone. It's gone. I'll be 42 this year. June 19th. Don't send gifts. Send wires, please. I need it. It's rough, but say if I live to 84, I'm 50% through my life, assuming I'm healthy until I'm 84, heavens forbid. I just die in my sleep. And it's nice, quick and easy and I have everything going on. I have everything planned and prepared. Hopefully not because I don't want to prepare to die, but if I have to, it is what it is. But. 50% of my life's gone. Let's say at 70 I get Alzheimer's, heavens forbid. Now only got 27 years left. 27 birthdays, 27 Easters, 27 Christmases, 27 birthday part. Like all this stuff with 27 days, 27 more years with my kids. If that doesn't motivate you, I can't help you in any way, shape or form. And we're assuming we're semi healthy to that point. We're assuming like nothing tragic has happened. There's a lot of assumptions. These are big assumptions by the way, with what's going on in the world, with, you know, cancers and all this other crazy shit like this all could change today for some of us. What deals are you making with yourself? I know a deal I've made with myself. I'm very clear. Not living forever. I'm never retiring. Why would you? And I'm never ever, ever quitting until I die. I'm never going to be satisfied, ever. It's part of this double sided, double edged sword. I'm happy but not satisfied. Happy is relative, by the way. Understand what it means. Never satisfied. Understand what that means too. It's not, I want more, to have more. So what? I want more because I know I'm capable of more. I see people make ten grand a year thinking they're crushing the game of life. Well, you don't understand me. I'm just trying to get, get by. That's the problem. I'm not trying to get by. I'm trying to be big. I'm trying to be alive. I'm trying to give back. I'm trying to donate billions of dollars in my lifetime. When you shift that mindset. Let me answer one more question. I get all the time right, Mark. How do you balance business and life, personal life and all that stuff? And a simple answer to a complicated question is this. So please pay attention. This is serious. It all comes down to one word. And this word is a very important word. And it changes often. And the word is simple, very powerful. It's called priorities. I don't believe in balance. Balance is kind of an interesting thing. I believe in balance, but balance is what? Because I don't know anybody's ultra balance and everything. If someone tells you they have everything figured out. Run to the moon, Hide your wallet, hide your credit cards, like they're trying to get your money. They're lying to you 100%. I don't care who they are. God, any. No one's balanced 100%. It just doesn't happen. But priorities. Today's Thursday. My priorities are different today than they are tomorrow, And they'll adjust accordingly. I don't want. I don't need more money. I want more money. I don't trade my time for dollars, but I'll trade. I'll trade my time for opportunities to generate more wealth for myself and others, my family, etc. Right. It's a balance. I get people that ask about balance as well. They're not willing to get up two hours early. They're not willing to go to bed two hours later. They're just asking questions of like, how can I be a lazy fuck and get away with it? That's what they're asking. See, balance as well is all about communication. Last year, when I did my event, I was on the phone a lot. I was talking with every single person because I wanted to talk to every person that came to that event. 200 people, right? So that's a lot of phone calls. So I went to my wife, Dina, and said, hey, for the next two weeks, I'm going to be very entrenched in the office. You might think I'm not present and I might not be. I'm going to be on the phone. But here's why. We're going to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity. We're going to impact hundreds of people's lives across the country. And I want to do. This is for me. I need this for me. I'm doing this again. This is a selfish moment. If you need me, tell me. I'm here. I'm upstairs in the office. I'm working. It's communication and just being clear about why you're doing certain things. I'm not chasing money. I have people send me the best deals every single day. I don't care, because the next deal is one hour away. The next best deal is for sure. So, again, I think it's like you got to get clear on what really you want. And I call this lifestyle by design. You got to figure out what lifestyle you want. You could offer me a hundred grand to come speak at your event. I'm not going. There's people here possibly might be watching this that's asked me to come out to their podcast show that gets millions of downloads. I might do it. I'll do it from afar. And they're like, nope, we only do it a person. Cool. I'm not in then. I don't care. I'm not traveling. I'm not a good traveler. It affects my life, affects my balance, if you will. If you're a balanced person looking for balance, I know what I'll do and what I won't do. Most people don't. They're too afraid to be look stupid or not be, you know, whatever. Like, I don't give two shits. It's my life. You know what I mean? So I think people looking for balance are also looking for acceptance. I don't need your acceptance. I don't care what you think. Truthfully, I genuinely don't care. I kind of like, we saw you in person, you're talking shit about me. Where I come from, you address it head on. But I don't care. Like we say something, we move on. That's kind of how I'm designed. Some people aren't that way. But like, I genuinely just don't care, you know, So I care about what I'm focused on, where I'm going and how I'm doing it. Well, I'm doing it with and you know, like that kind of stuff. So the me economy I talk about all the time. But you have to realize, guys, balance is. It's all about priorities. And if you're building a business, your priorities are just. If you're in the beginning phase of building a business, your priorities gonna look way different five years from now. Or vice versa. I don't even like building businesses. I like buying businesses. Now I can avoid six years of frustration and headache and heartache. And more importantly, I can buy time, you know, with money. But that's a whole nother story. But all these things. So priorities is really the thing you're really asking about and. Or maybe you're even asking for acceptance. The truth is, you got to get your spouse on board with what you do. That's a whole nother. I'm not here to be a marriage counselor because heavens forbid, I think everyone should have marriage counselors in their life. By the way, that's not weak, that's strength. Asking for help or asking for clarity or asking for a third party voice to help guide you and navigate you through your conversations is a very powerful thing, by the way. So that's again, these are. Again, investing in yourself. When I say investing yourself, I'm not talking about just making money, by the way. I'm talking about investing yourself at a gym, a spa, a trainer, financial advisor, business, like, whatever it is, marriage counselor, like maybe a shrink for yourself. All this stuff, right? All that stuff matters. Romello, how are you preparing for upcoming depression? I don't know what you mean, my man. I'm not. I'm not preparing for anything. I'm prepared every day, and it's. You know. And who says we're in depression? Define what that looks like. You know, I'm not. I prepared daily for Mark Evans economy, so I don't care. I get, again, I give two shits about what's going on in the world. I can't control it. It's so massive. I can't. I can't affect it. I can just focus on me. I get stronger, I get tighter. I get better on my finances. I get better on my spending. I get better with my team members. I get better with my companies. I'm looking for where the opportunities are. I can control all that. I can't control whatever. You're talking about depression, right? And you're making assumptions. You don't fucking know. If there's a depression coming on. No one knows. They can talk about it. We can probably think it could happen. But why spend an ounce of time thinking about something we don't know about? I'm not that smart. It's interesting. I never went bankrupt when all these billionaires went bankrupt in 2008, 9, and 10. These guys are smart people with real money behind them with degrees that I can't even pronounce. Now what? Bk because they're speculating. I don't speculate. I don't speculate. That's not in my. It's. I'm not a gambler. I don't speculate. I build businesses that have formulas. That's what I do. You know, not to say I don't work hard. Not to say that the teams don't work hard. We all bust our asses, but, like, we don't speculate. Money, money out, money in, money out, money in, money out, money in, money out. We're very clear on what we do. So, Romello, I don't give two shits about what's going on. Focused on me, economy. I really. You can ask anybody, my wife in particular, because she knows me the best by far right here at the house. I have zero clue what's going on. I'm sitting in my garage working or in my office working or out hanging out the pool, smoking a cigar with my kids while they play in the pool. And I play in the pool. Romello, hop on the phone, hop on this thing. Beacon, tell Romello how to get on here. I'd like to understand what he's saying. Hey, Beacon, can you do me a favor? You hear Beacon, hop on here real quick. Get him on there. I gotta go take a leak real quick, man. Too much coffee. 4:00am, buddy.
I got you, my man.
Don't be talking shit either weekend. Tell them what's up.
Yeah, man. So, hey guys, good morning. Thank you for tuning in. I know Romello, people like Paul, Mike, everybody's been tuning in. I hope everybody's been enjoying the, the value that Mark's bringing to the table. I think I've already had this conversation with Mark. Like he could be charging people to tune in. You know, a lot of people don't even have the discipline to tune into something at a scheduled time every day at 8:30. You guys have been doing it. I mean, the, the 50 to 100 plus people that tune in every single day has been bringing a lot of value. So I hope you guys are engaging more, enjoying it, gaining a lot of value. So you can implement this also in your business and in life. But yeah, I mean, if there's anything that we can do better to help, maybe make it easier for you to connect with Mark or ask your questions or even hop on, let us know. We'll for sure be willing to see what we can do to help. Let me see if I can get Romello in here though.
Hold on.
Just added this link right here. You guys can tune in to this. Perfect. I'm not, you know, the best when it comes to public speaking, but I could tell you from experience that when it comes to the whole meat economy thing. Oh, thank you, Dylan. I love these daily lives. Power hours. Yeah, J.C. i mean, this is, this is a power hour for me, you know, as well, someone who, who's coming up. I'm, you know, I'm starting my business as well, and Mark's just been holding my hand along the way. It's, it's, it's not about, it's not about the money. It's how can we connect and bring value to each other. That's what it's all about. I'm not gonna be able to join. Oh, why not, Romello? You can join on your phone. It's all you have to do is just click on the link and you'll be able to tune in.
He's at work, dude. Oh, he's at work. Yeah.
Geez. It'd Be that way, though. We're working. We're working.
Cool, man. All right. But you can bring me in here so I'll talk about it. Love it. It's real. All right, cool. So let me answer the question was I'm not. Okay, so 20% unemployment impacts my position in business. Circulation of money. What business are you in? Romello. Right. Thank you, Mike. Thank you, Mike. Thank you guys. What kind of business are you in? I. How does. First of all, no matter what business you're in, there's opportunity everywhere. You guys understand? Like, I see opportunity, the bigger the obstacle, the more money to be made. You know that, right? So when I hear 20% money flow, blah, blah, I get excited, I don't hear, I don't see the problem, and I see the opportunity. What business are you in? Right. Mark is going to. I would never tell him to quit his job. I only tell very few people to quit their job. I think most people should have a job. Actually, some people here that says they're entrepreneurs should go get a job because they don't have really what it takes to be an entrepreneur. They're trying to be cool and. And say they're an entrepreneur, but they don't have the balls or the gut or the. Or the grit to be a real entrepreneur. You know what I mean? And I'm not saying that to be a dick. It's the truth. No one's told you the truth. They're too afraid to hurt your feelings. Well, I'm not here to be your friend. I'm here to help you. Period. My best mentors by far told me the shit I did not want to hear, but I knew I had to hear, and I didn't even knew I needed to hear it until things happen. Satellite technology, communications. I work with federal government. I don't know how that affects you on money flow, but okay, I don't know, maybe. Maybe it's been over budgeted, maybe overpriced, and maybe it's needed or not needed. The questions I asked. What's up? What's up? You got grit, my man. Hope all is well, man. But Romello. So again, my first thoughts. And anybody knows me in business or life in general, like, when I hear a big problem, I go straight. Straight. Think of like the ER doctor. When a guy comes in, his legs cut off, his arms hanging and all that, straight critical mode. My critical mode. He doesn't sit there and, like, freak out, call 91 1. Clearly he's in the hospital going crazy, running around the room like a Yahoo. He literally goes straight to trauma. Traumatic boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Right? All his work and preparations meeting that moment. And that's how my brain's been taught. When I hear the big problem, my brain sits down with a piece of paper, a pen, and I write down everything. I have access to everything. Where's the opportunity? What's the obstacle? How big is it? How small is it? Where's the opportunity? Where's the obstacle? How big is it? How small is it? How much do I have? Do I have cars, watches? Do I have cash? Do I have accounts? Do I have houses? Do I have any? What do I have? Most people say, what don't I have? I don't have enough money. I don't have enough thing. Dude, I don't give a fuck what you have. What do you. What don't. I don't care what you don't have. Tell me what you have. What do you have? What do you got? What can we do something with, right? What knowledge you have, what connections do you have? What money do you have? What opportunities you have, what's in your garage, what's in your car? Like, that's where my brain goes for real all the time. So that's how I've trained myself to look at things. So when I hear satellite technology, communications, I work with federal government. I don't know what that means, but I'm, you know, one. Federal government, they like to waste a lot of money. So there's money somewhere there and satellite technology. It sounds very smart and intellectual and high level. So there's always money there because you can dupe a lot of people, even if it's bullshit. So there's opportunity here to provide a great product into a great. Great to great people, to make a lot of money doing it. So whatever that looks like, I'm not sure, but that's where my brain goes to, is where is the opportunity, not the obstacle. The obstacle is there. We all have obstacles, by the way. Most obstacles are right here. It's not a real obstacle. It's just a. It's just a distraction or it's a pivot moment or it's a fork in the road, if you will. You know, Is it an obstacle? No, it's a fork in the road. Which way are you going? Left or right? I don't know. I don't know. You better make a decision. If not, you hit the middle wall and then you're gonna be dead and you ain't gonna make any decision. I. E. Bankrupt. I. E. Out of a job. So you better. You better make the decision or it's full force ahead, you know? So cool. Any questions here? I gotta bounce. I just realized it's almost 9:30. You guys have any questions for me or you guys are good? Hey, appreciate you guys being here. I dive deeper into these conversations over at the Making of a dm. My podcast show, Beacon, will share that link here with you. But I do have a podcast show called the making of a DM on iTunes. Stitcher, all that. We got a lot of cool stuff going on.
