What would I do different at age 20? I get asked this all the time. What would I do different when I was young? The real truth is nothing. Here's why. Because I am who I am because of what I did when I was 20. But if I could go back, here's what I'd really do. Again, I don't play this game a whole lot because it doesn't serve me right. Because I can't go backwards, I can only go forwards. You'll find that a lot about people moving forward. They don't focus too much on the past. They learn from it and they move on. They don't harp on it, complain about it, do nothing about it. We grow, we expand and we deploy. But if I did go back to 20, the biggest thing I would do is I'd have pushed harder. I'd have stopped acting like the king of the dipshits. I was making more money than any 20 year old I knew, but that was not a lot compared today. And if I'd have hung out with different people that were 10, 20, 30, 50,000 times bigger than me financially, emotionally, physically could mold me and help me become a better person and think bigger. I was very comfortable. Even though I wasn't making a lot of money, I was making six figures in but like I wasn't making like where I'm at today. And I've mentored a lot of people over the years now and I guys in the DM family, which is a small private group, I have $35,000 a year group and I have 20 something year old guys in there and they're crushing it. They're generating millions of dollars a year. They're very smart because they invested 35 grand to get in a room with guys that are making many, many millions of dollars doing a bunch of different types of things so they could learn from that. But if I go back, that's what I would do. I would just push harder, I'd plan bigger, I would dream bigger. I wasn't dreaming big enough. I was just trying to make a couple hundred GS a year at 20. And I had a lot of staff, I had a lot of team members, a lot of people moving and shaking. But I really wasn't making more money. I was the cog in the wheel. I would invested in business coaches learn real business. I'm talking like how to hire, how to fire, how to elevate, how to delegate. I'm terrible delegator in the beginning and realize that the company can grow bigger than me, build a vision. Show the vision. Core values. Show the core values. Drive home the core values. Build a real company. Guys, look at, like, Mark Zuckerberg. Guy's worth billions of dollars before he was, like, 25, I think, or something like that. 27 maybe. But for some reason, we use age as the excuse. There's only two great times. I think the Chinese proverb is like, what's the best time to plant a tree? 20 years ago and today? Don't use the age thing. Mark would, when he was 20, would do this. No, do it now. Dream bigger. Be bigger. Get around bigger people and elevate your game. You're worth it. You got. Sam.
