043: How to speak the language of manifestation

Mart Tweedy explains how language shapes manifestation. Saying "I don't want" creates the vibration you're trying to avoid, so he recommends present-tense affirmations like "I am" and "I have" instead. He offers a seven-day challenge to replace "not" and "never" with positive alternatives.

We can't wait to see you there. Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Cani Crystals the podcast. I hope that you're all okay. Now I do apologize because the sound might be a little different this week because I'm recording this episode from my new office. E god, I can't even wait to share the before and after pictures of it because I'm really proud of myself actually. I'm in no way an interior designer. I know, like, I'm gay and stuff like that, but Christ, like, I do not have the interior designer badge on Cub Scout scarf. Um, I couldn't tell you what goes with what. I usually pick out things that clash and make other people go, "Ooh, uh." But I've bought lots of things for this office, and I've been in all week painting. I've been building furniture. I've even broke the blind at one point and had to call maintenance. And then just to treat myself and give myself a big pat on the back, I went to the Apple Store and bought myself a Mac to work off, which in itself is a bit of a manifestation actually, because I bought myself a MacBook and an iPad for work a few months ago, but the whole reason I want this office is because I want to be able to employ someone. So what better way to signal to the universe that I'm ready than to set their desk up with a computer and chair and stationery? So anyway, there I am in the Apple shop and I'm looking at the different models and prices and colors feeling totally overwhelmed, if I'm totally honest, and overwalked one of the workers who was lovely, and he was asking lots of questions, and he suggested that I go for the cheaper one of the three that I was looking for, like what I wanted it for. And for some reason, when I started playing with the larger, more expensive one in the shop, I just felt like that was the one for me, if that makes sense. You know, like when you just know. But when I saw the price and the fact it was almost £400 more than the other one, I just kind of pushed that thought aside. So the guy started pressing buttons on his little machine, and he was like trying to get them to bring me it from the back. And as he did, I just put me wallet down, and me wallet kind of— it's like a trifold wallet, so it opened itself up. And as it did, by sheer coincidence, I still had my NHS card in the back of me wallet, and he spied it, and he went, "Oh, you get NHS discount." It's only 6%, but you also get a £120 gift card. Is it wrong that I never spoke up and said anything? I feel like I've cheated the universe. I'm sure Apple, probably the biggest tech company in the world, won't be put out of business by my tiny little deduction, especially after all the bloody money I've given them over the years. So yeah, the guy kind of like looked at this machine and, and went, oh, I'm sorry, the one you wanted isn't in stock, it's out of stock at the moment in the gray. I've got it in pink or orange. Absolutely fucking not. I told him that the pink and the orange made us feel violently sick, and he told me that the only one in grey that he had in stock was the more expensive one.
Shock horror.
So I asked him how much it would be with my discount and just decided to kind of bite the bullet and go for it. So I'm very impulsive, I can't stand waiting for things to come back in stock. But when it came out from out the back, he suddenly had a brainwave and he said, hold on, I can totally get this cheaper for you. Obviously my face lit up. He had me open my, uh, Mac up, take the mouse out, swap it for a more expensive trackpad, and somehow use the gift card that I'd just acquired towards that as a separate transaction. I don't know what friggin' buttons he pressed, but he went, "Oh, so that's saving you a total of £320, and you've still got £80 left on your gift card? So to make the most of it, I went and got myself a HomePod as well." It's kind of like Apple's version of Alexa. "Just so I can play music in me new office." So when I got home and I added up me receipts, I somehow saved almost 25% on my purchase, just under £400. I don't know who the guy was, I never even got his name, but I am gagged at him. Was that a manifestation, or was I just lucky that I got someone that knew how to fiddle the system to get me the best deal? Who knows, you decide. But yes, I'm all decorated, I'm all furnished up, I'm all kitted out. I now just need to move all of me stock and me products this weekend so that come Monday I can go down to the office and pack orders and then switch off at 6 PM and come home and actually spend some time with my partner and my dog and have some friggin' me time. And all of my friends have been like, why don't you just take things down bit by bit? But I honestly can't. Like, imagine if, say for example, I took all my tumblestones down and then I started packing an order at home and someone had a tumblestone in their order. I'd have to go down the office to get it. So I'm just going to move everything Saturday afternoon and Sunday because obviously I can't pack orders anyway because the post office is closed until Monday. So next week I'll show off the before and after photos, so keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram and TikTok for those. But this week I've got something to talk about that I was going to discuss last week, but if you've listened to that episode, I really didn't have time. I recorded it quarter past 11 at night and it goes live at midnight, so I didn't have time to edit the the podcast episode. I listened back to it last week and I was like, oh my gosh, it's so cringe, there's so many swears in it. But yeah, I'm going to ironically this week talk about language. So not French, not Spanish, not Italian, more to do with language when you're trying to manifest and the words that come out of your mouth. And this is something that kind of like really, really helped me to get my head around like manifestation really when I first got into it all, and it really helped me to stay in that positive vibrational state. So For me, it's all about making sure that we make that conscious effort to stay focused on the positives. So when you think about it, like, the Law of Attraction doesn't filter out the information that we get. It doesn't decide what's best for us. We have total free will, and we just decide where we want to focus our energy and our attention, and the universe just reflects that back to us, you know what I mean? So if we focus our attention on something, either positively or negatively, it'll simply respond with more of that. So it's really, really important to focus on what you do want in life, not on what you don't want, okay? So you've got to state your desires in a positive way. Your mind kind of works in pictures, so if you say, "I don't want to be mad," you're creating a picture and vibration of being mad. The universe only receives the frequency of mad, and it responds to that. You've got to focus on the opposite of what you don't want, and in this case, it would be a better choice to say, "I want to be more loving and accepting," of the way that things are. So put simply, you just need to avoid sending mixed signals to the Universe and everyone around you because that'll hinder your ability to attract and manifest in a clear and powerful way. For example, when you are kind of against something, you're actually recreating it. So you're creating more of the very thing that you want to eliminate in your life. If you are anti-war, you've got to think again. The operative word here is war. And that's exactly what you'll get more of. A better choice is to be pro-peace, and you'll have heard this if you listen to The Secret or you've watched The Secret or you've read The Secret. The universe just receives the vibration of peace and it responds accordingly. The war on terrorism has created more terrorism, okay? Violence attracts violence. Love attracts more love. So you've just got to make that simple change in your life. You've got to make a conscious effort to restructure the way that you think and you speak and avoid giving away any unnecessary energy to the things that you don't want in your life. Whenever possible, avoid subjecting yourself, your thoughts, and your emotions to the negative people and influences in your life. And we all know by now that negativity sneaks into our lives through things like the evening news, um, social media, reading newspapers. And it's so commonplace that it seems so normal now. We've become nearly immune to our daily doses of war, crime, violence, corruption, you've got to refuse to give it any attention. So I don't even watch the news anymore. I barely scroll Facebook, if I'm totally honest. I'm usually just on Instagram because things that are on Instagram tend to be just pictures and videos, you know what I mean? So it's not like, um, Facebook people having a rant, like Karens and stuff like that. But you've just got to stop attending to the things that you don't want. You've got to stop talking about them. You've got to stop reading about them and stop talking about how bad life is. You've got to focus only on what you want to attract more of. Remember, where your attention goes is where your energy flows. So it's not surprising that most of us have a tendency to phrase things in a negative way without necessarily meaning to do so as well. It's just a bad habit. So remember, from this point on, focus on what it is that you do want. Do this not only with your internal thoughts but in your communication with others as well. You've got to try to avoid the use of any limiting or negative language. Every single thought that goes through your head, every single word that comes past your lips, that sends a message to the universe. You've got to continually stay on track, and that will help to place your order for your future life experiences. So instead of thinking, "I don't want to be late," just think, "I want to be on time." Instead of saying, "Don't slam the door," just say, "Please close the door gently." Instead of saying, "Your room is a mess," say, "Please keep your room clean." Instead of saying, "Stop making so much noise," say, "Please be a little more quiet." Do you get what I'm getting at there? Like, if you were to tell someone, "Don't knock that glass over, you'll spill it," what's the image that pops into your mind? Naturally, you're going to envision a glass being knocked over and that puddle of drink. Yeah, you need to avoid creating the thought and the picture and the energy vibration of the thing that you don't want. You've got to stay focused on those thoughts and images that are in harmony with what you you do want to create in your life. And by doing that, you're going to also avoid implanting that image of what you don't want into the minds of other people and the universe. Yeah, so we've got a tendency to focus on what we don't want in so many areas of our lives, even when it comes to our own health. Think of how often when faced with an illness or a disease, we become completely preoccupied with the problem and not that desired outcome. Like even me the other week with my sore throat, all I was thinking of was, oh my God, my throat is hurting so much. So while I was thinking of was hurt, that being the optimal word, and I was just conflicting more, more pain on myself. I wasn't thinking of like good health, if that makes sense. We tend to give our focus entirely to the illness and all that it entails, and instead of focusing just on being healthy— and what you focus on expands, so you want to direct your energy and thoughts to those of being well. You've got to keep your thoughts positive and optimistic. You see yourself as healthy and whole. Your positive energy and your thoughts and your visualizations, your affirmations, your meditation, combined with whatever medical treatment you choose to seek, will then obviously serve to enhance the healing process. Think about how much time we typically spend every single day discussing problems and focusing on kind of what's wrong with our lives. So from now on, we need to make a commitment to shift your energy and to start thinking and speaking in a more positive way. You've got to make it a point to start focus on what is right in your life instead instead of what is going wrong, okay? Now, that's not to say that it's not okay to notice on what you don't want, 'cause you can notice what you don't want. You've just got to use it as a first step in the process of deciding what you do want, and then try to get out of the habit of giving it so much of your energy and attention. Think about what you don't want just long enough to help identify what it is that you do want, okay? That'll tell you by comparison what it is that you would rather have and that'll help provide you with some clarity. Just remember to redirect your focus back to the positive and then move on. And all of this language talk goes for affirmations as well because I get asked loads by message every single week if I can look over people's affirmative statements that they've wrote theirselves that they're repeating to themselves daily because they're not sure what— that they're worded properly, for example. And 9 times out of 10, they're not, okay? So remember, just like I mentioned earlier, we need to focus on the opposite of the negative. The way we're focused on the positive, and that's what we're going to attract, okay? Remember, affirmations should always be in the present tense too, rather than a wish for the future. So if you say, "I wish I had more money," where we're stating two bad statements— number one, "I wish," and two, "more money"— all you're going to do there is attract more lack into your life, more scarcity, okay? So instead, we can say something along the lines of, "I am wealthy and abundant. Money flows freely and effortlessly to me." And I use that affirmation all the time. By changing your language and being mindful of what you actually say, you're putting a different message out to the universe, and you're putting yourself onto a positive vibration. And we all know by now that that's the exact position that we need to be in to manifest what we want in our lives. So remember to use definitive or affirmative word choices and sentences. That's your signal to the universe that you're not beating around the bush, you're cutting the bullshit. This is what you want. Okay, I hear non-affirming statements a lot with people that are new to personal development, new to the Law of Attraction, and I honestly think it's because kind of most of us were not conditioned to use definitive language because of kind of we're being modest. Yeah, modesty was considered more polite and humble, but being definitive and affirmative, that language is so fucking powerful. And it can become a default setting with a bit of practice. I very rarely catch myself slipping into negative talk at the moment because I'm always watching my language and watching what I'm putting out to the Universe. I mean, yes, at first that might have felt like a chore, but look where I am now because of that. I'm manifesting everything I want to. So non-affirming statements usually start with something like "I should" or "I would like" or "I want" or "I hope" or "I will try to," and these phrases, they aren't confident. They're not powerful. They don't hold a lot of weight for accountability. So you've just got to remember, instead of the "I shoulds," start and use language that doesn't leave room for possibilities. Use that powerful language. Speak power into your intentions. Be clear about what you want. We know that the Law of Attraction wants us to get clear and specific on all of our manifestations, on what we want in life, and that helps us to do exactly that. So let's take, for example, let's talk about manifesting abundance because that's what I get the majority of questions about. To do this, you've got to feel abundant and you've got to speak that into existence. So the stronger the language, the more you convince yourself that it's true, the more you're going to convince the universe. Okay, so to give you a better example, look at these two sentences. Like, I would like to be successful "I am successful." How do these different versions feel in your body when you say each out loud? Just say them out loud now. "I would like to be successful." Or "I am successful." The first sentence doesn't make you feel empowered, doesn't make you feel strong or powerful. But the second one, you can almost feel the feelings of success going through your body. You embody the abundance. You become one with success. You therefore then attract more of that success.. And when you can tell the difference between the way that these two sentences feel, you can then pick up on the energetic difference. So when you learn to default to the affirmative tone, you begin speaking powerfully, and that's the language of the universe, okay? So start each sentence with, "I am," "I do," or "I have," okay? Affirm your manifestations. Be direct. Don't ask for it, okay? The universe isn't fluent in any language but energy. So when you think about your word choices, you've just got to be mindful and stay positive. The subject energy of your sentence matters just as much, if not more, than your words. So keep it focused on what you do want and keep it positive. The way that we speak is a habit. We've all got to unlearn the bad habits that we've formed. I still work on my habits because they pop up sometimes, but at the end of the day, we're human, we make mistakes. All we can do is try and learn from the past mistakes and move on and move forward, okay? As we talk about changing the words that we use to manifest, that includes self-talk like criticism, okay? So when we use hateful words with ourselves or judge ourselves harshly, we are manifesting more of that energy. And that energy can be reflected back to us in the form of, you know, a fucking horrible boss or a rude customer or disease within the body, being passed up for promotion. But we'll never manifest a happier life by criticizing ourselves, and I guarantee that. In fact, this habit can counteract all of your other positive efforts, okay? So how you speak to yourself communicates your self-worth to the universe. And what you believe that you're worth, that's what you'll attract. You've just got to remember that when you start to notice if there are any recurring kind of negative patterns showing up in your life, this could be the sign of a negative self-image. And you've just got to remember, always be kind to yourself. You've got to shy away from the self-punishment. You've got to speak power to yourself, speak love to yourself, and you're going to then receive more back to you. You've got to start slowly. And this week, for example, for the next 7 days, I want you all to go away after this episode and— not forever, don't worry. I just want you to go away after this episode and begin to notice your speaking patterns and habits. I want you to gently self-correct yourself any time that you notice kind of that old habit resurfacing. So I want you to begin your sentences with "I am" or "I have" and just avoid the use of the word "not." or never. Just focus on, you know, that old saying, what is it, a glass half full approach. Yeah, focus on that. You can always ask your friends or your family or even your work colleagues just to kind of hold you accountable and let the people closest to you know that you're working on a positive mindset shift and you'd appreciate some help correcting yourself. You might be surprised at how many people want to actually join in and do the same themselves. But just remember, we all mess up sometimes, okay? We're all collectively interested in helping each other grow and do better. And again, just like anything in the law of attraction, I always say to basically start small. So even when I went to the Metro Center the other night to the Apple shop, I was driving around, it was quite busy, and I just said to myself, I'm going to get a parking space right by the front door. And just by even saying that, I went around the corner and there was literally a parking space right on the very end, and I got to it. And I know that might sound stupid, and you might be thinking, Martin, like, anyone could have drove around there and got that parking space. But I truly believe it's because I'm positive and I think like that, and because I affirm that to myself, I thought, I'm going to get this parking space. It's going to make my life easier when I'm carrying these bags out of the Metro Centre. I'm going to be able to jump straight into my car because it's right next to the door. So for the next 7 days, just watch your language. Try and manifest something really, really small, but do it with affirmative statements and say like, I am, or I have, that kind of thing. And just use that glass half full approach, okay? Let me know how you get on. You can DM me @cunnycrystals on TikTok or Instagram, or you can even find my personal Instagram, which is @marttweedy, if you're interested in 1-hour-long Instagram stories of Lady Gaga concerts. Oh, and by the way, that's Mart Tweedy, M-A-R-T, short for Martin. Yeah, I get so many messages with people like starting their messages with, 'Hi, Mark.' Uh, but yeah, it makes a change from Siri changing my name to Mary in all of my friends' text messages, but Hey ho, we move.
