Day 2: Business Success Challenge for Three Principles Coaches

In this video, Mary Shiller, founder of MaryShiller.com, presents Day 2 of a 7‑day Business Success Challenge aimed at Three Principles coaches and sharers. She emphasizes that many coaches neglect to weave their own before‑and‑after story—how the Three Principles transformed their lives—into their outreach and branding. Mary shares her own dramatic shift from a traumatic first marriage to a life of purpose after discovering the Principles in 2014, illustrating how authentic storytelling builds trust, hope, and connection with clients. She argues that genuine personal narrative differentiates a coach, attracts the right audience, and enhances the effectiveness of the work. The challenge for viewers is to examine how much of their own journey they are currently sharing and to commit to integrating the full story—pre‑Principles, during, and post‑Principles—into all aspects of their business.

Hello, Mary Shiller here with you, author and chief permission granter from MaryShiller.com. This is day 2 of our 7-day Business Success Challenge for 3 Principles Coaches, Sharers, all of you good folks. So if you watched the video from day 1, you'll notice that I asked you a pretty big question, a challenging question, and that was, are you working on a hobby or a business? If you said you were working on a business, then these next few videos will probably be very helpful to you. If not, Obviously, you're welcome to continue watching. I would love to have you. So in this video, I want to talk to you about something that gets discussed a lot, and I mean a lot, but I actually don't think that most people take it to heart. I think they hear about it, they go, yeah, that's a good idea, and then they go on their way without really listening and, you know, taking it, um, and running with it. And that is including your own story in your outreach to people, in, you know, everything that you do related to your Three Principles business. So what do I mean by your story? Well, everybody that I'm aware of, at least in this community, has a before the 3 principles story and an after the 3 principles story. You may be familiar with mine. I have mentioned it before. I think I mentioned it in the first video about how I had been in an unfortunately very violent first marriage. And had suffered the effects of trauma for several decades until I came across the principles in 2014 and found myself and my whole world completely transformed as a result of gaining an understanding of how my mind actually worked and how this human being system actually works. And it was a very dramatic change for me. I went from being somebody who really saw my life in a very small way. I didn't feel like I was able to live the life that I was meant to live, because somebody had made the choice to try to hurt me. And I really was pretty hopeless a lot of the time. I had managed to create some good things in my life, like my new marriage and my daughter and my relationships with my family and friends. But at my core, I really didn't feel very good. And it wasn't until I came across these principles that everything changed in a big, big way where I saw that, you know, in actuality, I wasn't broken the way that I thought I was. You know, I had seen myself that way for so long, and for me to really get clear on the fact that I never had been broken and never would be, that was a pretty major thing to realize, and it had a huge impact on how I began to live my life. So much so that I now really feel dedicated to sharing these principles and making it the focus of my life and work. So why did I share that with you just now? Because it's a way of showing the humanity behind what I do, the real Mary behind what I do, and that I'm not doing this because it looks good on paper, you know. I'm not doing this because, um, you know, I want to be famous or something like that. I wouldn't mind that though. It would certainly allow me to increase my impact and reach, but I'm doing this because I'm driven by my own life experience, and I suspect that you are too, and that you experienced a major shift in your life as a result of this new understanding, and that, that is, is what has brought you to where you are now. But I have to say that in the last, you know, 2 years, and especially the last year and a half or so, that I have been talking with coaches in the Three Principles Community, I can't point to many who incorporate their story into what they do, into the— I hate to use the word image, but that's the only word that comes to mind— into the image that they put out, you know, into the world to bring people to them for their business. For me, it's a major focal point. I mention it in almost everything that I write in my books. It's all over my books. I've been interviewed many, many times, and I never get tired of sharing that story because I know that it's helpful to people to see a before and after. It gives people hope. And, you know, I have talked to people in this Community who have felt nervous about revealing too much of themselves, about sharing too much of themselves. And there's really no way for you to do that because we are all in this together. You know, we're all part of this same beautiful space and the same, you know, universal mind. And your experience is my experience. It's all a shared experience. And the only way to really bring that point home is to be open about yourself and about what you have seen for yourself. And that will go a long way, not just in attracting people to you who want to work with you, but it will also help in the work that you do. You know, that's a, a big reason why I think, uh, the people that I work with get results because I am really speaking from my own experience. I'm not trying to be something that I'm not. I'm not trying to tell other people's stories. I'm telling my own, and I think people sense that. So, you know, for this challenge today, I would like you to really look at how much of yourself How much of your story, your, your real journey with, you know, before, during, and after these principles, how much of that are you bringing into your business? And if you're not bringing very much, how could you bring all of it? And I do mean all of it into what you do. If you think about the people that you are inspired by, who you admire, who you would love to have dinner with, living or dead. You know, it's not so much about what they've done, is it? It's really more about them and what they experienced, what they learned, you know, what, um, who they are as people. That's what attracts you to them, and that's what will attract people to you as well. So that's the challenge: how much more of yourself can you bring into your 3 Principles work? Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
