#PriceLikeAGirl: Who *are* you?

Mary Schiller explains how naming a signature program helps you charge more. She discovered she'd built one called "Lift Off" without realizing it. A clear, distinct program positions you as an expert and makes it easier to attract clients willing to pay higher prices.

Hi there, this is Mary Schiller of pricelikeagirl.com and also maryschiller.com. It's really nice to be with you today. I decided to jump onto a Facebook Live here to say hello and also to share something that I heard today that I thought might be helpful to you when it comes to pricing since that's what we're all talking about in this group. We want to price with power and conviction, and most of all, we wanna price like a girl. So, I was looking at some other materials related to business today, and I came across some writings by a few different people that just sort of spurred some interesting ideas. And one of those ideas relates to something that I talked about with the people in the recent live workshop that I held about how to set your fees with ease, and that is the importance of clarity. Clarity around the results that people get when they work with you, clarity about what it is you're actually offering them, and we had a very nice discussion about that. And I think I may actually offer a workshop coming up sometime that's just around clarity. But what occurred to me today that I wanted to share with you is that sometimes we can really overlook something that's very obvious, something that's kind of sitting right in front of us. And, um, that's basically what happened to me where I realized this morning that I had been sort of creating what you might call a signature program for a while, and I didn't even see it that way. Until just this morning. And the advantage of having sort of a signature thing that you're known for is that you can be seen as an expert in that thing. You can be kind of associated with it. And the more that you are associated with something that is very unique to you, the more, you can attract the right people to it. They will see what you have to offer. It will be very clear to them. And the more money you can charge because you will be seen as an expert who is really offering something that no one else is. And I love this because, um, hi there, Anka, nice to see you. I love this because It can be really hard for us to see ourselves in this light, you know, where we don't often— hi there— we don't often see ourselves from the vantage point of our own uniqueness and what it is that we're bringing to the table. But I was thinking of my good friend Lori, who's in this group and who was on the workshop, and how she offers these really unique painting classes. And I was thinking, you know, she might even come up with a name for herself that reflects that. Like I heard this morning a woman who described herself as the Get Known Get Paid Mentor, and her whole thing is helping people become public speakers, professional public speakers. And so she called herself the Get Known Get Paid Mentor. And so even if you come up with a signature class or program that you're teaching and you add on a word like mentor to it or, you know, whatever word appeals to you, you suddenly are setting yourself apart from the rest of the sea of people in your field, you know, because let's face it, with this internet world that we're living in, it's hard to stand out. It's hard to, you know, create something that seems like it's different. And the way to do that, as far as I can tell, is to really listen to yourself, really appreciate all of the unique things that you bring to the table, find some way to be able to see yourself in that way from the outside, and then kind of draw a gentle circle around yourself and make yourself into something that is very clear for people to grasp, if that makes sense. So I'm putting this out there with the question, is there a way that you can look at what you're currently doing and position it in a way that makes it more unique, more representative of what you personally bring to the table to people and what results that people get. Uh, so I'd love to hear in the comments. I can give you a quick example of myself and how this kind of came about for me was I, um, realized that I had been sort of slowly creating this signature program on the transformative coaching side of my business. That I have called Lift Off. And I wasn't really even aware that I was doing that until today. I kind of stood back and looked at it and I thought, well, that is pretty much the culmination of everything that I know in terms of transforming one or more aspects of a person's life. That is really my signature program. And so I didn't even know that that had happened until this morning when I finally got some distance from it and could see, you know, that's That's kind of my thing is liftoff. I want to help people lift off into something new. I intend to do the same with Price Like a Girl. I came up with the name to make it stand out, and I would love to be known as the Price Like a Girl mentor, or I'm not sure what word will work with that, but on the business coaching side, that's really what I'd like to do. Feel free to comment on this video and let me know what you think. See what you see when you look at your own work and see if there's a way that you can make yourself stand out a little bit more and see yourself as a total package deal that somebody gets. All right? Thanks so much for watching. I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
