Mary Schiller says new coaches don't need fancy sales funnels. Instead, reach out to people already following you on social media, invite them to free one-on-one calls or group Zoom sessions, and share a scheduling link. That's the funnel.

You need a fancy funnel. Bad advice. My goodness, there's a lot of talk these days about funnels. Everybody's gotta have a funnel, funnel, funnel, right? Wrong. Here's the thing. Funnels are great. They have their place in sales and marketing. They're a way for you to bring people from point A to point B to point C and into your orbit. But if you're looking to generate quick money for your coaching business and kind of kickstart things, you don't need a funnel. The fanciest funnel you need is you reaching out to someone. That's it. So pay attention to who's interacting with you on social media. See if there are people you already know in your orbit. Orbit, in your sphere, who could use some help. Invite them onto a free call with you. That's it. That is all you need to think of in terms of a funnel, especially in the beginning of your business or when you want to jumpstart things. Later on, you can experiment with other funnels, but I highly recommend the simplest one, which is just reaching out to people and having a one-to-one conversation. Another way to do this that has worked well for me is hosting a free group call like on Zoom, or you could even do a Facebook Live and inviting people onto a phone call with you by having a link for them to schedule a call with you. That's it. Nothing fancy needed. No fancy funnels. Pro tip: opt for the simplest way to reach out to people. You don't need to get so fancy.
