I remember being out on a dog walk one day, sobbing as I was walking along just on my own. I was working for the NHS.
Yeah.
I was in £30,000 worth of debt. I lost 3 friends to suicide.
Mm, okay.
And I was constantly thinking, is this just what life is? I just remember looking up at the sky saying, come on, universe, show me this can get better.
So obviously there's this U-turn that starts to emerge. Yeah.
The girl that I met in the hire car place called Carly said, do you know what would help you? I said, what? She said, some crystals. And she pulled out this rose quartz from her bag And I was like, what even is that? She was like, it's rose quartz. You need this in your life. And then my life just started changing. When I'd said to it one day, show me that I can leave the NHS, that next day I got the call from Chanel and got £27,000 in a day.
Crystals are honestly something that I personally haven't invested the time in, nor have you. Have you, Corissa?
No, not at all.
Sometimes we don't need the proof. It just is like we have to trust the generations before us, don't we?
I think there's proof in the pudding as well.
Your own experience is gonna be your most compelling Telling truth.
Yeah, give it a shot. What have you got to lose?
Which is really crucial there.
Yeah.
This is why so many people are such good unconscious manifestors, because they're not questioning the how.
Yeah.
You need to get back to that mindset.
Call it placebo, call it whatever you want, but for me personally, I found it really healing to walk around with these crystals in my pocket.
There's going to be people listening who would love a baby, would love to manifest more money, healing from health conditions. Let's go through a few, but first With IVF or trying for a baby, is there a particular crystal?
So there's a bright red crystal called—
Wow.
Yes.
Mart Tweedy, welcome to Beyond.
Thank you so much for having me. This is amazing, isn't it?
Yes.
I mean, I feel like we've just spoken for about an hour. Yeah.
Had coffee. Yeah, we've also had to stop speaking because we're like, no, this is a really good— it's actually really good for the podcast.
Yeah, every time Corisande opened her mouth, I was like, save this for the pod. Save this for the pod. This is gold.
So as you can tell, Corisande and I are really excited Yeah. But for anyone tuning in, we have listeners from, of course, all over the world who might be discovering you for the first time. How would you describe what it is that you do, Matt?
Oh, well, I basically reprogram people's brains from my bedroom. That's how I describe it.
I love that.
Yeah, because I'm not really a manifestation coach as such. Like, I know you are, Matt, and I know you are as well, Corisande. But at the same time, I don't feel like that's all I teach. Because my background is I worked in the NHS for 15 years. And in that, I was in mental health, and I was helping people, you know, going through psychosis and schizophrenia. And I just thought, as soon as I left the NHS, how could I incorporate that mental wellbeing aspect with the manifestation aspect? Because I really got into manifestation quite heavily. And I just thought the two are quite interlinked. They're really, really interlinked. So I just thought, Yeah, I'm not really a manifestation coach, not really an NHS worker. I'm somewhere that sits in between. So I just broke off and I did my own thing. So I don't really know how to describe myself whenever someone asks me that question, because I don't tend to put myself into one box. Basically a jack of all trades.
I think that's a great, great way to answer that question. Now, for anyone obviously tuning in, they're going to see a lot of crystals behind us, aren't they?
Yeah, they're everywhere.
They're everywhere. And Corisande, we've brought our own crystals as well, haven't we?
Yeah.
Now, I was saying to you, Mart, when we were planning the podcast, you know, I obviously study manifestation. I go really deep, and crystals are a big part of it. But crystals are honestly something that I personally haven't invested the time in, nor have you. Have you, Corisande?
No, not at all.
So that's why we thought, let's have a conversation. Now, Mart, when we met him about an hour ago, rocked up with a suitcase.
Full of crystals.
I was sweating.
I've been hauling this 35-kilo suitcase around.
I'm London.
From Newcastle?
Yeah, from Newcastle.
Aw.
So we're gonna save all that because we can't wait to dive in and sort of ask you questions about crystals. But why don't you just sort of take us back? Because for anyone obviously tuning in, Limitless, what a great book. We'll talk about that later. And, you know, before we start diving in and talking about crystals, why don't you take us right back for anyone listening for the first time? Like, where did— what was your story?
Yeah, so I grew up in a little mining village in County Durham. where, just to put it into perspective, there was one Black child in our entire school.
Wow.
In our entire school. That's how white it was.
Yeah.
To put it in a certain way. And growing up, we never had an abundance of anything other than love. We had no money. We always had hand-me-down clothes. In fact, one of my very first memories is having our school year photo took, and the headteacher elbowing me out the way saying, Couldn't your mother afford the uniform? And that to me just made me feel like such an outcast. So I didn't feel like I ever fit in in the social circles, whether that be at school or with friends. And my dad kind of wasn't on the scene whatsoever. So I grew up with my mom— I'm an only child— and my nana and granddad, who basically raised me as well. And I always had an interest in tarot readings and spirituality evenings.
Really?
Like, when I hit the age of about 11 or 12, I was constantly watching things like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed. And it was almost as though I connected with these people that were outcasts as well. And I thought, hmm, they're my tribe. They're a bit weird and a bit out there. Maybe I'm like that as well. So I always had it in the back of my mind that I was different, but I just didn't know why. And then obviously growing up as a gay man as well, in a little village like that, I remember when I came out to my mum, actually, just a little side note, when I was 16, the next day I came home from school and there was a priest and a vicar in my living room.
Jesus.
And my mum had rang the local church to get them out to talk to me about being gay. And there was all these pamphlets all over the dining room table. And it was because she was petrified that someone was going to put her front windows through because I was gay.
Seriously?
Yeah, that's, that's how bad that little village is. And I worked so, so hard to get out of that village.
And did you know— how old do you think you were when you knew you were gay? Was it something that you were familiar with when you were really young? Like, do you remember that?
My first crush was Flounder from The Little Mermaid.
Was it? A fish.
No bestiality here. Um, but yeah, I think it was because— and obviously he was a male character. But I just found this attraction to a fish.
Jeez.
And then I was like, oh, maybe I like boys. And yeah, it just grew from there. I think I was probably about 8 or 9, if I'm totally honest with you.
It was really early on. And you were born in the '80s, were you?
I was born in '87. Yeah, 40 next year.
Are you really? Wow. Okay. So, and then what was that like then at 16? I mean, that's a huge thing to do, isn't it, at 16? Did you have fear around that? Do you remember? Take us back to that moment.
Yeah, I mean, at the time, I think there was only one other person that knew that I'd confided in, which was my best friend, Nicky. And I hadn't basically told anyone else.
I—
my family is so close-knit as well. I knew that they wouldn't judge me. But my aunties used to take me to Sunday school.
Right.
My mom used to go to church. My nana would go to, like, midnight mass. I'm not saying that they were very religious, 'cause they weren't, but they had— Morals and things like that. And I just thought, what if they reject me? What if, you know, I'm kicked out? And back then you didn't have the internet. You thought you were the only gay in the village.
Literally.
Literally. Yeah. You didn't know that there was a whole community of LGBTQ, whatever the other acronyms are. Yeah, so many these days. But you just felt like such an outcast for being gay back in the '90s. That's how it was.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That must have been so hard, mustn't it?
Yeah. So how did you then find— you talked about The Secret and manifestation. How did you then find that from being so there in your life?
Yeah, about 2017, this book just kept on appearing to me. I remember going around to my best friend's house, and on his bedside table he had The Secret. And if you've seen the book, it's bright orange. It's got a wax stamp on it.
You kind of can't miss it.
It looks like a love novel.
Yeah.
Yeah. Did you think it was a novel when you first saw it?
Yeah.
And I saw it and I thought, Why is he reading like erotic novels or something? That's what I thought it was on first glance. And he said to me, no, it's a book all about mindset. And I just thought, oh, boring. That was literally my first—
Is it?
Yeah. And then I think I turned the TV on that same day. I can't remember if it was Oprah or one of those chat shows or something. And Rhonda Byrne was on talking about it. And I was like, hmm. So I went on Amazon, read the blurb. And I was like, maybe I need this book. And I don't know what made me Buy it? What possessed me to buy it? Because at the time, I was working for the NHS. I was in £30,000 worth of debt. My mum had bailed me out so many times with credit cards. I mean, there was one time I got a credit card when I was 17 years old, which I'm pretty sure is illegal now. And it was just because I wanted a £50 overdraft to get to and from work for fuel. And they gave me a £3,500 overdraft on this credit card.
And didn't— there's a great story I read in your book about manifesting £3,500.
Yeah, I was just gonna say.
Tell us that story, because that's— so what was it? Was it a holiday, if I remember rightly? Yes.
So I'd read The Secret, and I just thought, you know what, I haven't had a holiday in years. Absolute years. And so I just thought, wouldn't it be nice if I could just manifest this little lump sum that I could pay for myself and my partner to go away, maybe somewhere like Thailand or Bali? And I started pricing it up, and I just got familiar with how much this is going to cost. And it was roughly £3,500 with spending money.
Yeah.
And so I would go in the bath and I would put YouTube on with seagull noises, with ocean waves, and I would lie there in the bath rocking backwards and forwards, emulating the sea washing over me. And I don't know why, but I could just hear elephants in the background. And one night I got out of the bath, I put my Mac on and I went on Twitter, and the very first thing I saw was an advert for the ITV show Tipping Point.
Oh, wow.
with Ben Shephard. And I thought—
How funny.
What have I got to lose? And so I applied for it. A couple of weeks later, they rang, we'd like you to come for an audition in Newcastle. Went for the audition, passed the audition. Next phone call I had was saying, you know, we want you on the show. And I was like, okay. And they were like, you can win up to £10,000. And I was like, oh, wouldn't that be nice? And I just started visualizing, like, what I would spend £10,000 on. But I'd already previously set my intention that I wanted this £3,500.
Yeah.
Now, when I got on the show, I actually won. And the amount that I won was £3,500. And it wasn't until I was on the train on the way back from Bristol that I suddenly thought to myself, did I do this? Was this me? And I was listening to the audiobook of The Secret at the same time as reading it. And at the same time as I just discovered subliminals, so I was constantly listening to subliminals.
Doing it all at the same time.
Yeah, I was chucking myself in at the deep end. And yeah, I got home, I told my mum what had happened. She told me to get my head out of cloud cuckoo land, as she called it. Get your head back in the game with the NHS. Told my granddad about it. He just kind of looked at me weird. And so that was 2017. And so I just kind of retracted a little bit and thought, okay, they're right. And I started believing them.
And at that point, were you still working in the NHS? Yeah.
Yeah, I was still working full-time in the NHS.
And had you told anyone that you worked with that you were reading that book, or that was something that you were doing? I think that was something you were just internally doing on your own.
Yeah, it was just something that I was doing on my own, you know, whenever I got the opportunity to. I mean, it's not a long book or a lengthy book by any means, is it? You can read the full thing in 5 or 6 hours.
It's funny how most people get into it that way, because in sort of 2019, just after I connected with my mom, that was the first book that came my way as well. Because there's the film as well as the book, isn't there?
Yeah, the film's very cheesy.
It is so cheesy.
But I also think it just gives you an element of hope. It finds you at that time in your life when you need it. And it gives you that, like, oh, I can do it, I can do this. It almost reminds you that you're the driver of your life.
Yeah.
It kind of, it's that wake-up we need. But you mentioned your granddad and you mentioned, you know, there's that lovely story in your book that I'd love you to share and kind of that awakening and the story behind that.
Yeah, so this is how, crystals came about for me, basically. So 2019, I'd not manifested anything for 2 years. I was still in loads of debt because that money got spent on the holiday. And I can remember one day my friend messaged me, and it was Amber Gill, who was famously on Love Island in 2019. And she said to me, look, I'm going on Love Island. I would love for you to look after my social media. And I was like, okay. What do you want me to do? And she said, just be funny. And I was like, okay. So she just left me with her social media account.
Just be funny.
Just be funny. That's literally the only instruction I got from her. And so she left me with her social media passwords. And as those 8 weeks went on, things just got wilder and wilder. So at first I was appearing on local radio. So I was on Capital Breakfast pretty much most mornings in the Northeast. Then after that, I was invited to, I think it was the Victoria Derbyshire Show. on BBC. And then I was like, wouldn't it be amazing if I get to meet Alison Hammond off the back of this?
Wasn't that a manifestation though as well prior to—
Yeah, because I love Alison Hammond. This was before she was even, uh, yeah, she was only doing the— she's doing all the competitions.
That was something in your mind way before this.
Alison thinks that I manifested her being a presenter.
Can you imagine? Yeah, I bet you did.
She actually said that to me.
That's brilliant.
And so I remember getting a call one day, and they said to me, we'd love for you to go on This Morning to talk to Ruth and Eamonn, and we'd love for you to just, you know, give us the goss on Love Island. I was like, yeah, of course, I'll do it. And I said, can I just ask a quick question? Will Alison Hammond be there? And they said, no, Alison's never here on like a Thursday. And I was like, I'm not having that. So on the train on the way down, I was just visualizing Alison's laugh because she's got a very distinct laugh.
She has.
I could hear it over and over again in my head. And as I'm in the green room going through hair and makeup and everything, I could just hear this cackle. And I was like, surely not. And one of the producers went, you're in luck. Guess who's coming on a day off?
You're joking.
And she walked down the hall. We got on like a house on fire. So much so, she gave me her personal number. And yeah, we still message every now and again. She—
Do you really?
Yeah. She's such a lovely woman.
So, what I'm fascinated by is You've read The Secret. You, now you are, if I remember from your book, you would visualise in a warm bath.
Yes.
And I love that because you said, you know, you were visualising, was it holiday to Thailand?
Yes.
And you needed 3.5 grand.
Yes.
You won that from winning Tipping Point.
Yes.
But what I loved, and it was just such a good reminder, even for me that sort of, you know, preaches visualisation and manifestation, is how the warm bath, you'd use those senses to imagine you were on like a warm, in a warm climate as well. But fundamentally, what was interesting about reading that part of your story is that you didn't know how you'd manifest the money. You were just clear on the end, you know, the holiday.
I was living in that end result, basically. I wasn't connected to the how it was gonna come to me, who was gonna buy me this holiday, where I was gonna get the money from.
Which is really crucial there. Yeah, yeah, of course it is. Because I think when people, this is why so many people are such good unconscious manifestors, because they're not, Questioning the how.
Yeah, yeah.
They're not chasing. They are completely detached. But then when people find out how it works, they become almost too obsessed. And you need to get back to that mindset because that's amazing. Just hearing you, you know, just saying that level of— that just shows how powerful visualisation is. Yeah. So it shows that you could connect with it. The fact you could hear her laugh, you could hear all of that. You obviously connected.
Yeah.
With that moment, which obviously collapsed it. And then there it was in front of you.
Fundamentally as well though, like you said, the ad popped up for Tipping Point and then you took the action.
Yeah.
And I think it's not spoken about enough in manifestation, isn't it? The, you know, we do the work, the visualization, and then something might come up completely unrelated to a holiday in Thailand, going on a sort of a TV show, Tipping Point. But you— did you even know, like, the prize winning for that?
No, not at the time.
So you could have seen that and you could have thought, no, I didn't really understand what it was.
And then I was like, oh, this is that game show with Ben Shephard on ITV every afternoon. And I just applied and yeah.
And what year was that, Mark?
That was 2019, the start of 2019.
So that was 2019. And then Amber, was that also a similar—
Amber was 2019 as well.
So same year?
Yes, all the same year. So I was on Tipping Point in April. Amber flew out maybe 4 weeks later.
Wow, okay.
And on the finale of Love Island, Amber was in the final. I was canvassing votes. I was back and forward to London pretty much every day, still working in the NHS at this point.
Were you really?
Yeah, but I was back and forth to London every day doing little radio interviews, little skits. I was going around King's Cross with flyers that my partner had designed, flinging them everywhere.
For Amber?
Getting told off. Yeah, doing everything for Amber just to canvass for votes. And that night, we went out, Crucial part of the story that I totally missed out is that we couldn't get a mortgage. We, because of my £30,000 debt, we could not get a mortgage. Our mortgage went through that same morning.
Are you serious?
So it was July the 29th. Our mortgage went through. We got the keys at 5 PM. By 5:30, we were out in Newcastle. We were, you know, having a few drinks, celebrating this Love Island finale party, which started at around about 8 o'clock. It ended at 10. Obviously, we stayed out a little bit after because Amber won. I got dragged up on stage. I was in tears, crying my eyes out, you know, just ecstatic for her. I was on top of the world.
Mm.
I got home a bit later than planned. And you know when you're half asleep, but you're aware something's happening? My phone was vibrating, and I didn't know who it was. And I was thinking, oh, this is gonna be another journalist or a news reporter wanting the first scoop from me. I felt like I'm just Peter, if I'm totally honest with you.
Yeah, I bet you did.
And when I looked at my phone, I just glanced, and when I saw it said Mum, I was like, oh, and I immediately sat up, and I felt it in my gut, and I just intuitively knew something was wrong. And my mum said that the night before, while I'd been out, she didn't want to disturb me, but my granddad got took to hospital in a lot of pain, and before he made it to hospital, he actually passed away. In the ambulance.
Oh, my.
And if I'm totally honest with you, I can't even remember driving over to my mom's house. It's a good 45 minutes from my house. I can't remember getting dressed, getting in the shower, going to see my nana. I can't remember anything about that day. And in fact, I can't remember much about the 3 months that followed that. I really started to spiral. And I thought, how am I to go into work And, you know, help people with their own mental health when I'm struggling myself. That was how it all came about.
Because it's that high that you're riding on.
Yeah, I was just about to say.
It was the ultimate high to the most ultimate low.
Which I think is so difficult because then there is no in-between.
No. It was like a roller coaster straight to the bottom.
How did you cope with that?
Like I say, I can't remember it. There was some nights, because I was literally going to work to numb the pain, going to work, switching off, coming home from work, I was running a bath, and instead of visualizing, I was laying there until that water was stone cold. I would be in the bath 4 or 5 hours some days.
Really?
I would get in from work at 5 o'clock, I would be in the bath, and I would just be staring at the ceiling like a zombie. That's how it felt.
And he was more than a granddad to you?
He was the father. Yeah, he was the person that raised me.
I got quite emotional reading that part of the book because we— where we live in Cornwall, Coruscant's parents live with us, and Humphrey, obviously, I'm there, his dad, but he also has a really close relationship to your dad, doesn't he?
Yeah. So I could really feel that for you. I could really feel it. And also just that element of, you know, it's so difficult when you almost feel— you can't help but feel angry with the universe.
Yeah.
Because you're like, well, why? Why do I have this great feeling? So how did you find yourself again?
So I remember being out on a dog walk one day, and I got caught in a big downpour of rain. And you know when it feels like the world's just kicking you while you're down on the ground anyway?
Mm-hmm.
And I just thought, oh, great. And I remember sobbing as I was walking along, just on my own. And I pulled my hood up over my head, pulled my, you know, collar right up to my face, and I screamed into my coat. And I just remember looking up at the sky saying, come on, Granddad. Come on, universe. Show me this can get better. Now, to put things into perspective, over the last 12 months prior to that, I'd lost 3 friends to suicide. And I was constantly thinking, is this just what life is?
Yeah.
Is it, you know, a parent or a loved one dies and you immediately hit rock bottom until you kill yourself as well? And that's what I was thinking. Those thoughts were going around in my head every day. How can I live with this pain? I've got nothing left. I'm in £30,000 worth of debt. Let's just erase everything. I didn't want to be here. It was so hard.
So you can resonate with, with that feeling? Yeah.
The only person that I would have kept myself alive for was my mum. And she was the only reason that I didn't do it. Because I couldn't— I couldn't put her through that.
No.
And the polarity here is, of course, you've just watched Amber win Love Island. You were sort of responsible in a way for all that campaigning and really helped. You've just bought your house.
Yeah.
Are you with your partner, Johnny, as well? Yeah, yeah.
We've been together about 5 years at that point.
5 years?
Yeah.
And then, so this then leads up to— can he— like, I want to get— start getting into that. So talk me through then. So obviously there's this U-turn that starts to emerge.
So I called out to the universe, and the next day at work, my manager obviously knew that my mental health was declining, that I needed a little bit of space. And she said, look, we've got a huge opportunity. If you want to go down to Liverpool, there's a trust down there that really needs some help from us. We would love to send you down there for a week. We'll put you up in a hotel. We'll pay for all your meals, pay for all your transport. This could be a little chance for you to get away from what's actually going on in the Northeast. And I said, right, okay, let's just do it.
Mm-hmm.
So I traveled down there and I thought, this is gonna be great. Some me time just to get away from everything. And the girl that I met in the hire car place called Carly, she got talking to me. She'd seen me on This Morning a few weeks prior. I told her about my granddad passing. We got on like a house on fire. She added me on Instagram, and I remember her looking at me in the car as we're like driving along this road, and she said, do you know what would help you? And I said, what? She said, some crystals. And she pulled out this rose quartz from her bra, and I was like—
Did she really?
Do not put that anywhere near me. I was like, What even is that? And she's like, it's rose quartz, you need this in your life. And I was like, okay, I'm not taking that one, you've just had it in your boobs.
Yeah.
And so I followed her on Instagram, and about 2-3 weeks later she opened up a crystal shop online. And I remember at the end of her first day, she'd put a post on saying she'd had no sales whatsoever, and I felt sorry for her. So I said, what's your PayPal address? I'll send you £10, you send me whatever. She sent me a little box of crystals, and they were little tiny tumblestones. And she told me what to do with them, how to work with them, how to interact with them. I thought, what have I got to lose? What have I got to lose? And so over the course of maybe the next 2 or 3 weeks, I did this as a ritual every single morning. I would come downstairs, I would talk to my crystals, I would pop them out in the sunlight, I would meditate with them, I would journal alongside them. And call it placebo, call it whatever you want, it wasn't harming anyone.
No.
I was carrying them around with me all the time. I felt very connected to myself, and for the first time in a long time, I started getting into a bit more of a positive headspace. Now, whether that was the crystals, the journaling, the meditation, or a mixture of all, who's, who's going to say that it was one specific thing? But for me personally, I found it really healing to walk around with these crystals in my pocket and put them all over my desk at work. And over the space of the next, I want to say, 6 to 12 months, I probably bought about 200 of my own crystals.
I read that.
There isn't a single room in my house that doesn't have crystals, even the toilets. Like, there's crystals everywhere in my house.
So it was an instant connection. It was.
And when you talk about crystals, you talk about them like Like they're living things.
I love that. Great question.
Yeah. So how are, like, 'cause you've got some amazing ones sat here, but I really feel like that they are, like you talk about them like they have an energy in each of them.
They do.
When you're describing it.
They do.
So, you know, like I know nothing really about crystals. I've got some here which I can't wait to show you.
So yeah.
But as a child, I used to collect crystals and stones.
Yeah.
And I was obsessed. With certain ones, actually. But in terms of, do you think it's energy that lives inside of them? Have they got—
100%. If we think about energy, we're all made up of energy. Every single thing in this room is made up of energy. There's energy in the air around us. Crystals are exactly the same. So they are a power hold of energy. And because they were formed millions and millions of years ago, they all have different structures. They all have different elements that they're made up of. And people have used these for years.
Yeah.
If we go right the way back, like Cleopatra.
Yeah.
You know her green famous eyeshadow? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's malachite.
Yeah.
It was ground-up malachite that they would basically put over her eyes.
I'm really looking forward to getting into this conversation. And we'll go into it in a moment. I think for me, the way I look at it, and tell me if I'm wrong, because I wanna play dumb here when it comes to crystals. We're singing off the same hymn sheet when it comes to energy and vibration. And all this microphone is, is just a condensed form of energy crystallized a microphone. And the parallel that I see, tell me if I'm wrong, is I don't know if you're familiar with the work of Dr. Emoto.
Yes.
And it was the study of water and how, for anyone listening, what Dr. Emoto would do, which is truly fascinating, they'd have these little dishes of water from the same source. And on one dish, they would speak really negatively to the water. You're evil, I hate you. And then to the other, water, they would say, I love you, you're amazing. And they would— same water, they would then freeze it. And then when they would pull them both out of the freezer, the one structure of the negative water would crystallize into this awful, evil crystallized structure.
Evil.
Yeah, literally evil.
Evil.
Whereas the loving affirmations to this water would form this beautiful crystal-like structure. I can only imagine— I don't know how these individual crystals will take form, but Am I right in thinking it must be a similar method?
Yeah, definitely. And I think, like I say, it's the energy that you imbue them with as well. Because like, you know, the Dr. Emoto experiment where they're talking positively or negatively, that's exactly the same. Crystals are just absorbing the same energy. So that's why, you know, what we were saying earlier about not touching anyone else's crystals and not holding them, because it's going to absorb their negative energies. So that's why I don't let anyone else really touch my crystals.
Because the crystal will take on their—
Exactly that.
So now, We're gonna go down a deep rabbit hole about crystals, but first, take us to the point. So let's tee— I love saying, let's tee this up.
Yeah.
So we're here—
I like to imagine we're in a permanent golf round.
No, no, no, it's not. It's just that I said, when Corinne and I are out, I'm like, hang on, she's about to tell an amazing story, and she'll dive straight in. And I'm like, can I just tee this up for you?
Yeah.
So let me tee this up, Mark, for us. It's a few months after Granda has passed away.
Yeah.
You are saying to the universe, like, show me a sign. You then meet Kylie— Kyla?
Carly.
Carly.
Carly. She pulls out a rose quartz from her bra. You have this sort of like instant connection to crystals.
Yeah.
You're doing Barking Brigade and That Sweet Guy, aren't you? Yes.
Yeah.
2 failed businesses.
Yeah. So third one.
And then we hit the lockdown.
Then the lockdown.
And when the lockdown hit, it was almost like I had so much time. There was—
Right, yeah.
There was so much time that, you know, we weren't able to see friends or family. And all of that spare time, I kept thinking to myself, what could I do that will, you know, show off these crystals? And how can I get the message of crystals out there to other people? And so I remember thinking, hmm, one of my friends does candles. What if I buy some crystals from here, some candles from there, and sell them as a little bundle? Now, my birthday hit on March the 30th, And I just went all in on Shopify, bought a website, cost me about £19. And overnight, I'd built a whole website. And I said, look, it's my birthday, put it out on my social media. If anyone wants to support me, here's a candle and crystal. This is how it will help you. Overnight, we sold out.
On March 30th?
On March 30th.
Wow.
And it was your third business?
That was my third business.
333.
333. And 3 comes up a lot for me.
Creativity, self-expression. Taking action towards your desire, speaking your voice.
Yeah.
Wow. Yes.
I always tie in like I see the numbers.
Yeah.
But when I remember thinking about a website name, I was like, what could I call this business?
I was gonna say.
And just in the back of my head, I heard a voice just like you did with your mom. And it was my granddad's voice and clear as day. He said, Gan canny, son. Now he used to say that to me every time I left his house. And Gan canny is a way of saying like, take it easy. you know, go easy.
Gan canny.
And he said, gan canny, son, straight away. And the first thing that popped into my head was Canny Crystals. And so I launched that. Um, we are 5 years deep now, 60,000 orders deep as well.
Wow.
Um, I then launched an academy because I thought, well, you know, how can I teach about crystals visually rather than just on Instagram? Launched the academy. I think we had 20,000 people through the doors in the first year alone. And then I thought, I need a podcast. I need to get this message out there further. The podcast hits number 1 in the spirituality charts on the Apple Podcast every single Friday.
Amazing.
Well, I say that until you guys—
We've had this conversation.
Are you gonna knock us off on a Friday?
Yeah.
Not that it's egoic at all.
But you know what's really important though, that anyone listening, how many times, how many knocks Yeah, really.
Yeah.
That we have in life. Like, it's never just a sailing path to the end. You have to try and weave your way through this rocky path that we all go through. And it is hard, isn't it?
Yeah, it is.
But it's following— like, I see a key pattern with everything you've just said there. There's breadcrumbs that you were given. And that's something really important that we talk about a lot, is that sometimes, very often, people don't— you almost have to be so open to what's coming, because you could have you could have thought, oh, well, I'm not going to call it Canny Crystals.
Yeah.
But every time you think of that, you must think of like—
My granddad.
Yeah. And that he's there behind you. Yeah.
Every single time. And what's funny is once I'd launched the podcast as well, I didn't even want to write a book, to be totally honest with you. But a few people around me were writing books. And it's almost like, you know, keeping up with the Joneses. I just thought, oh, maybe should I start like, you know, contacting certain people. And then just on a chance encounter, I met someone at an event and she went, oh, I'm a book publisher. I would love to write your book. I was like, what?
What year is this, Matt?
This is 20— what year are we in now?
2023.
This was the back end of 2022.
So it's happened because what I was going to drop in is for anyone listening, there's probably a lot of people listening to this podcast who are in a corporate job, unfulfilled, and would love to monetize their passion or something they're interested in. You sold out that first night.
Yeah.
At the time, did you have an influence? Did you have a following? Did you start with nothing?
I started with nothing, and I was still working in the NHS for the first year after that as well. So it wasn't like I was given it on a silver spoon or anything like that. Do you know what I mean?
It's easy to say, isn't it, with the following? Oh, I launched and sold out, but you didn't have a—
I had nothing. I had nothing. I think I'd started the business and within the first year, I maybe had 2,000 or 3,000 followers on Instagram. And that was working my ass off basically for a year. And then there was one day, I was earning about £27,000 a year in the NHS, after tax, coming home with maybe £1,800. And it just wasn't enough.
No.
It really wasn't enough. And so I was working 40 hours a week in the NHS, 40 hours a week on my passion, which was crystals. And I remember someone placing an order for a clear quartz sphere, quite a biggish one.
Yeah.
And a few days after it arrived with her, she got back in touch and she said, oh, I'm doing a charity ball, would love to buy 300 of these.
Really?
And I was like, I'm sorry, there's a typo there. These are £90 each. And she was like, yeah, yeah, that's right. And I was like, that's £27,000. And she went, yeah, that's fine. And then I looked at her email address, and it said @chanel.com.
No!
And I was like, what? So anyway, I got in touch with the mines, got these 300 crystals, and they were so big and so heavy because obviously it was just crates after crates.
Did you need a lorry?
Yeah, I was like, you know what, I'm not even gonna pay for a courier. I'm going to drive to London and back in a day and hand-deliver them. Because what kind of service is that?
Pay me in bags.
Yeah.
I mean, I mean, from Newcastle to London and back, it's about £100 to £120 worth of diesel. It's not a massive amount. 6 hours each way. So I stuck a podcast on, came down, delivered these crystals. They put photos on that night. Madonna, Miley Cyrus, other people all sat around these tables with my crystals in the middle.
What a story.
I made £27,000 in one day by making one phone call.
What does that just show you though? You never know.
You never know.
In this world, we are so lucky in a way in this time.
Wow.
Because we never know who's watching.
So.
You never know who's there.
The way that came about though is quite interesting, and I've got a little piece of this with me, so.
Ooh.
What? I like the side pocket.
I like the little secret pocket. So many pockets. Just a quick one. It amazes me how many people have no idea that I have a digital version of my mind. And let me just explain exactly what that is before you jump back into the episode. So I knew for years that AI is here to stay, and there's a lot of people using AI in a negative way. And I personally love AI. I think it's a great tool and a great study guide for me. And I was wondering whether there was a way that I could utilize AI and artificial intelligence To take everything I know about manifestation. Chances are you're listening to one of our podcasts and perhaps you're tuning into a question and hoping that your question might have been asked by someone else and that perhaps Matt might ask it. Well, the good news is I actually found a way. I created Matt's Digital Mind, and I want you to think about this. This AI was built from scratch, blank canvas with nothing else programmed into it. Purely from everything I've fed it. So every single podcast I've ever been on, my entire book, all my courses that exist on the internet, everything I've ever done, every single email newsletter that I've ever written, and I've been writing those for 5 years, has been fed into a digital representation of my mind. And what that means is you can actually use my mind to ask me any question And I'll only answer it based on the intelligence that I've given it. The people in my community absolutely rave about it, and we don't talk about it enough. If you'd love to just come in and try it out, then it's available within the Beyond community. It's there as one of the assets, and come in and try it. You can join with a 7-day free trial on the link below. Come in, explore the community, go and check out my digital mind, and if it is not for you, then you can leave. And perhaps you've just got one question you'd love to ask my mind. Come and join us for 7 days and then cancel your membership. Absolutely fine. But I think you're gonna love it. And with that said, back to the episode.
This is a tektite called moldavite that a few of you might have heard of. And basically, this was created from the impact of a meteor hitting what is now the Czech Republic 15,000 years ago. Okay? So a lot of people think that this was the meteor or the asteroid. It's not. If we think about how hot a meteor is, When it hits the Earth's core, and it hits all the grass and everything, everything melts. So it goes to such a high temperature, it all melts into a liquid. It flew up into the air, and as it came back down, it broke off into thousands and thousands of pieces. This is one of those pieces.
Can I have a look at it? What's it called?
I mean—
Oh no, a contradiction. No, it's not.
I have a moldavite ring.
I've got a moldavite necklace.
You can show me from a distance.
Well, actually, I have a piece each for you.
Oh!
Oh! So excited!
Pass that over.
Is this for me, this one?
It's 2 in there.
Oh.
So only touch one of them, Mr.
Yeah, it's like I'll handle all of them.
One to my wife first.
Moldavite is basically—
Don't touch mine.
I'm not gonna touch yours, don't worry.
It's such high vibrational that it's very transformational. And this went crazy on TikTok years ago, so much so that the price shot through the roof. So this piece here that I'm holding is about £400.
Wow.
It's so expensive because the mining cost, and because it's so rare now as well. It's because they're not really, they're not really finding any in the mines.
So where would you recommend having this on your person?
So it basically, if you're— yeah, I carry mine in my pocket. I have it on ring, I have it on necklace. You know, it's totally up to you where you have this, but if you want to keep that in your pocket or something like that, I put them in little plastic bags because everyone loses them because they are so small.
I had an experience a few months ago where, at an event, where I feel like I don't know what's happened to me, but I'm more tuned in energetically. It started in my heart, and now I can just feel it. I can feel that just by holding it.
Yeah, that's so—
So you're very susceptible to energy then, because for me personally, I can't feel much from it, but I know from the transformation that it's brought me of how powerful it is. But one of my friends came into my bedroom not long ago, and I had all of my moldavite jewelry off. I put it behind the picture frame, and she walked straight into my bedroom and said, I feel nauseous. And I said, why? And she went, I don't know. And she looked over and said, what's behind that picture frame?
She knew.
She knew where the moldavite was.
It honestly feels like— it feels like it's got tiny legs and it's just moving around on my—
It's so funny that you say that, because everyone says moldavite has legs, because you can put it somewhere.
It's serious.
And overnight you'll wake up and it's gone.
It sounds really, really cool. I love this. No, I love the whole thought of it. Can you sense that yourself?
You can't sense that yourself?
I can't sense it.
So literally now, you know the sensation when like an ant crawls on you?
Yes.
Yeah, yeah.
It feels like under it, there's tiny legs, and it's sort of like just dancing around in the palm of my hand. So, so I want to experience this.
This is called Moldavite.
Moldavite.
And it's highly transformational. It basically accelerates you into Your highest timeline.
Oh, I know what you mean.
Can you feel it as well?
Oh, I can feel that. I know exactly.
You can feel that?
Yeah.
You've got a slightly bigger piece than me.
No. Don't you get swapping that in the middle of the night, mister.
Let me just make sure I get my facts right here, because I'm a geek, remember? So this is from a meteorite hitting Earth in the Czech Republic.
Yes, 15,000 years ago.
15,000 years ago. It's not a part of the meteorite itself. It was because it's so high temperature as it hits the Earth. and everything splurts up and melts instantaneously, this could have been a piece of rock or earth just adjacent to it. And essentially, the energy of the impact is imbued within this.
Exactly.
So essentially, even though it's not the meteorite, it's holding the energetic vibration of where it came from.
Exactly.
Oh yeah, that's what I was thinking.
So a lot of people think that this was the meteorite, and they're like, oh wow, I've got a piece of meteorite. And I'm like, no, you haven't.
You really haven't.
But you have in a way though, haven't you? Yes, you've got the energy of the meteorite. Because you've touched it, haven't you? The energy, I mean, it's almost like a part of the Big Bang, isn't it?
So, and, and this crystal's known for, for like, is it a rapid transformation, acceleration, intuition? Yeah, all of the above. So basically, when I first found this, someone said to me, oh, you need to start working with moldavite. So I bought myself— it was this piece actually, this piece on my necklace.
Oh, is that the one?
That was the very first piece that I bought. I got it wire wrapped at a market because I thought, I'm gonna lose that.
Yeah.
And so I started just talking to it daily. Okay, moldavite, How are you going to show me how good today is going to get today? Do you know what I mean? Show me how good it's going to get. That's literally all I would say to it.
I love that quote, by the way. Show me how good it's going to get.
Yeah, show me how good it's going to get. That's— it's got to be so simple. But that was me setting my intention with it. Every day it was sunny, I would put it out there in the sunshine, let it charge up. And then my life just started changing. When I'd said to it one day, I was like, show me that I can leave the NHS. I was getting £27,000 in a year. That next day, I got the call from Chanel and got £27,000 in a day. So that for me was my cue to then go ahead and leave the NHS.
So that literally was showing you how good it's gonna get?
That's exactly. I just thought, well, this has just given me the biggest sign of all. And so I started writing out my resignation. And I thought, I don't know if I'm ready to do this just yet. So I went to hit save. And I hit send.
Did you really?
And then when I, you know, on Outlook, you used to be able to click recall, and it was like recall failed. And I just sat there and I was like, oh no. So I had to go into work the next day. I'm like, hi everyone. And my manager was sat there and was like, oh, we got your resignation. So sorry to hear that you wanted to leave.
And I was just like— Inside you're like, I don't want to.
I'm so scared.
Yeah.
And I was so proud that I didn't recall it. And I just thought maybe this was meant to be.
But again, it's still normal to have that feeling of fear and doubt and worry. It's still like, no matter how much the universe presents you with a sign, it's still normal for that fear to come through.
Oh yeah, 100%.
Because people always say, when's the right time to do it? There is never a right time. You've kind of only got to give yourself permission to do it.
Yeah.
So you say about talking and setting that intention, is that the same for if you were to talk negatively to the crystal, you were to go through something and have the crystal— So would you say if somebody maybe had something crystally, that's not the right terminology, but we're going to go with that.
You can say whatever you want to say.
And something maybe happened in their life, or they just, like, can that hold on to negative energy as well in the same way?
Yes, and that's why we cleanse crystals. So obviously crystals can be cleansed in water, sunlight, moonlight, you can pass it through smoke, you can use sound such as singing bowls, or Om chanting, simple sound frequencies. So many different ways that you can basically change the energetic makeup of the crystal.
I think that's a great— Coruscant, that's such a great question because— so if you're buying them pure from the mine, then you don't obviously have to do that. But if you're getting them from a secondhand shop, for example, can you talk us through your own strategy for cleansing a crystal? Like, what would you do?
So it does all depend on the individual because I'm quite fortunate that I live near the coast. So I love taking them down to the seafront, you know, going down. I look absolutely psychotic doing this, but I get them in my hands and I'm like, I'm just gonna bath use.
Oh my God.
And I just put them in the salt water. There are some crystals, particularly ones that end in -ite, such as this gold one, like pyrite, that you wouldn't be able to get wet. I always say, as a general rule of thumb, anything that ends in -ite, other than moldavite, I wouldn't particularly get wet. Because they either erode over time or it breaks them down. But anything else, you can bury them in your back garden if you really want to. You know, you can put them on your car dashboard so that the moonlight hits them. There are so many different ways.
So someone's not living by the coast— we live by the coast, so we would do that. I'd imagine that you could write, just write the intention.
I, you know, um, you can visualize, you can visualize cleansing if you really want to. and pop your hands over and just visualize that white light traveling from above through your body into the crystal, cleansing it. There are so many different ways.
It's so funny, Mark, just slightly segueing here slightly. Um, you know, Corisande and I like our jewelry, and for years I was quite funny about secondhand jewelry just because I said, you know, you don't know who's worn that watch or the energy that's come from it. And for years I never bought secondhand jewelry. But my view's changed on that now because obviously in the same way as a crystal, I'd imagine you can cleanse jewelry in the same way, can't you? By cleansing the energy of whoever wore it previously. And would you agree that that's—
100%, yeah. I think everything carries energy and carries a makeup of energy. So crystals are just beautiful because if we think about how long a crystal has been forming for, these have been formed way before humans ever existed on Earth. These are millions and millions of years old. They've been kissed by the sun, the earth, the sea, the moon. They imbue so much energy.
And if I say I'm obsessed, I don't know whether anyone could see, but the owl. Can we please talk about the owl?
Yes.
Can we have a bit of a moment for the owl?
So this is one of my favourite crystals. It was one of the very first splurges that I had when I first got into crystals. It's really shiny. Yeah, this is labradorite, so it's the same as this big one over here. Um, so that's what it looks like when it's polished. This is what it looks like when it's carved. And labradorite is a great transmuter of negativity, so it takes and absorbs all the negativity and it puts out positivity, but it also protects you as well. So it's almost like forming a bubble, like a shield around your aura. And so I was quite attracted to labradorite as such just because I love blue.
I know!
And it shimmers with like a beautiful blue. And so I was attracted to it straight away. Now whenever I go to like circles or tarot evenings or anything like that, I always somehow come across an owl. And I did a past life regression recently, and in between every single past life, I could see these huge owl eyes coming at me. And she said, that's your spirit animal.
And I was like, it's so weird.
This was one of the first crystals I ever bought. This was about £150. Just because of how it was hand-carved.
And that, that is the property of that, is to pull in negative energy, you say, and transmute it. For, for any skeptics out there, and you know, I, I think, um, skepticism sometimes is quite healthy. And you know, when I was first getting into manifestation, specifically angel numbers, you know, you could read online about all the different meanings of all the numbers. And I held those as a benchmark, and then I very much tested them myself. Where do you think the essence of each crystal comes from? So someone at some point would've said, this particular crystal pulls in negativity. Have you looked into that, out of interest?
It's not something that I have looked into, but for example, so this pyrite, this gold one here, that's also known as fool's gold.
Oh, okay.
Because of the name and things, people think, oh, it's to do with wealth. And if we think of coins, we think of gold.
Yeah.
So I think there's some connotation there. So anything yellow looks like the sunshine, so it's all about happiness and abundance, but they do correspond with chakras as well. Oh, okay, yeah. So if we think of the colors of the chakras, and we think of purple, for example, for up here, and we think of amethyst, amethyst connects with the divine. So it's all interlinked. So I do think that there's some correspondence between the color of a crystal, and the properties as well.
And that there, that, that is that amethyst?
The purple one is amethyst.
Yeah, so what I was going to tell you is, so that there, and remind me what you said the gold—
This one?
Yeah.
Pyrite.
So those two, when you brought them in, I was like, this is really strange because those two there, I remember as, as a child, I used to go to my grandma's house and she had those in a cabinet.
Yeah.
And I was, I mean, I used to collect, that was like my thing as a child. I had a box of I had a box of crystals. I used to grow those. You know, you could grow them then.
Oh yeah, grow your own.
And I just loved it. I don't know why, I was obsessed. And I loved the stones and the feelings of them. Some I really didn't like as a child, even as a little child. But that there, I used to go to her house and that just reminds me so much.
Which onesy?
The amethyst and the gold. Those were 2 things that I had. And actually, I lost the amethyst. I don't know where it is. Problem is having a toddler, everything just gets drop kicked from here to.
Well, I've got you another gift. It's so weird that you say that because I've actually got you an amethyst bracelet.
Thank you so much, Mark.
That's so exciting. Thank you.
I've actually got you an amethyst bracelet and an amethyst.
I'm already obsessed.
Oh, I'm obsessed. So is there a specific wrist that you should wear this on?
Yes. So what we say is if you pop anything on the left that you want to absorb the energy of, yeah, and anything on the right is what's giving that energy out. So for example, on my right, I have a triple protection bracelet. So I've got tiger's eye, black obsidian, and hematite. And that's a very protective triple combination. So I put it on the right so that it gives that shielding energy outwards. So left is receiving, right is giving.
And would you say like sleep in this, like wear it all the time, take it off?
Yeah, I would say to take it off at night. Sometimes it can affect your dreams, but also bracelets are made of elastic.
They're not robust enough.
This reminds me, sorry, this is what—
So the purple amethyst.
So amethyst is really good for healing anxiety and stress, but it also connects you to the above and the divine.
Oh, well, I definitely need that.
Intuition and, you know, thoughts coming through. I find that when I wear my amethyst bracelets, I get a few downloads.
How strange, when I only thought about that the other day and you bought them.
So do you know what's interesting about that? Obviously this podcast will go out around the Lionsgate.
Yes.
Obviously I'm out in New York for a retreat.
Yes.
And that window with the With Sirius being the brightest star, it's known as the spiritual sun, and it's a perfect time not just for setting intentions but also receiving guidance. So this crystal is perfect for opening yourself up or receiving insights.
It's almost like I chose it for a reason, Mr.
Cook.
It's almost like you knew.
But for anyone who's looking to connect with a higher consciousness or receive insights or downloads, you'd say amethyst is the perfect crystal for them?
100% amethyst, yeah.
Do you want to see these 4?
Oh yes, I do.
I have 4 stones. So this is a really, really cool side story here. Thank you, Mark. So these are—
You're welcome.
4, yes, thank you, Mark. These are 4 kind of random stones that I randomly carry around in my handbag, but I don't know what any of them are.
You don't know what they are?
So they've all been either given to me or like they've come out of nowhere. You're allowed to touch them. You are. So for some reason they've just Yeah, so I'd love to know what they are. And I almost feel really, like, I can't cope if they're not in. I think I was in, we were going somewhere, and we were going through security, and you know what they're like when they're like, put everything, and I'm like—
Yeah, story about that.
Yes, don't take my crystal though. And I was really funny about it, even though I don't really know what they mean. They're like my children.
Yeah, so I was going through Malaga Airport about 2 or 3 years ago, and I was travelling so heavily with crystals. I had them in every orifice that you can imagine. And they'd asked me what one of them was, and I kept saying crystal, crystal, and she didn't know what I meant. So I went on Google Translate, and I typed in crystal, said it out loud, and she just went so wide-eyed. And then I realised Google had autocorrected it to crystal meth.
Brilliant. Great. Yeah.
So just be careful if you're travelling with crystals.
Be careful, yeah.
'Cause I could have got shot. Yeah.
Yeah, you literally could have.
Okay, so I think this one— this one's quite hard to tell because it looks like a mixture of It looks half sardonyx, but also half red jasper. So red jasper is all about passion and drive, so that's a good one for you. This one could be—
One of many.
Yeah, it could be a quartz, it could be a citrine. It looks very low quality. Sorry.
No, please be honest.
It does look very low quality, but it looks like a low quality citrine, so citrine is good for you. for happiness, abundance, prosperity. So for example, this tower here, that's like a high-quality city. This would be a low-quality, do you know what I mean? It's more cloudy. I don't mean to say it's low quality, it's crap.
We could sail her away, perhaps. Release her, yeah.
You could wash her in the sea.
We could. This one is smoky quartz, so this is very protective and grounding. Anything black tends to protect and ground you.
Oh, okay.
Is that a good way of remembering it? Is it dark is protection and grounding? Okay.
And this last one is apatite. So it's A-P-A-T-I-T-E, rather than appetite as in hungry.
Yeah, yeah.
But ironically, it's good for weight loss. Are you serious?
Right. I'll just strap that to my whole body then. Yeah, great.
But green is also good for the heart chakra.
Okay.
So it corresponds to anything in the centre of the chest. So yeah, I would give them a good cleanse if I were you. But if you're just carrying them around in your bag, they're not gonna be doing much. Right.
And if you've got a mixture of crystals like Corisande has, They're all just doing the— Yeah, and what I find— They're all sort of working their own job.
They are.
Bringing in negative energy.
But what I always say to people is, if we think of our crystals as a mobile phone, if you pop it up on the sideboard and you leave it there for months on end, if that was a mobile phone, that's gonna have died. You're gonna have to give it some care and some love, and you're gonna have to stick it on charge.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
So we've gotta think of crystals in the same way. So what I do is every Sunday, Like, I do this little Sunday ritual. I go around the house, I either have a Palo Santo or some incense. I go around with my little tincture symbols. I just refresh the energy. And I start along the left-hand side of the wall, go right the way around my entire house refreshing those crystals, putting them out in sunlight, bringing them back in, setting intentions with them. Because there are some crystals like the ones in my bathrooms where they never see the light of day. There's one bathroom in particular we don't even have a window. So, you know, that's the only sunlight it gets.
Yeah.
So I charge it up, I set my intentions, and I thank it for the peace and the happiness that it's bringing me when I go in the bath, because that's where I put it. And then I just let it do its job. But there are some crystals that, you know, I work with on a day-to-day basis. So this big black one here, that's tourmaline. That absorbs negativity as well. It's a great absorber. So when someone is being really negative, And you're going to be around them, that crystal is going to soak it all up. So I have that one, that one particularly behind my front door, so that no one can come through the threshold being negative because that's going to absorb it all.
Wow.
So it's literally going to absorb all the negativity in that person's consciousness and just—
So I need to clean that as soon as someone's been— someone new has been in the house, basically.
So literally what I'm taking from this is imagine they're a little bit like a mobile phone, an iPhone. They need charging.
Yeah, they need love.
Just like anything else. Yes, just like anything. Interesting. How many crystals are there?
I think there's about 9,000 on record.
Different variations. A lot to remember.
But this is the thing. So you can get amethyst that looks like that, and that'll be from, I don't know, South America. And you could get amethyst that looks totally different from Africa, or that looks different from Canada. Do you know what I mean?
Sure.
Wherever you are in the world, it's all going to grow. I mean, my nana, when I first told her that I was leaving the NHS to go full-time with my business, she thought I was going up and down the Tyne on a trawler boat getting these crystals. And I'm like, this is not quite how it works.
That's brilliant.
So yeah, crystals are formed all over, all over the world.
It's fascinating, isn't it? Don't you think?
Absolutely, yeah.
I've got a crystal.
Mm-hmm.
And I had to really remind myself to bring it today. And this is such an interesting story, and then I'm gonna give it to you and you can try and figure out what it is. So let me show everyone first at home who can see this unusual It's unusual. Yeah. So I was at an event in Ghent in Belgium last September of 2025, and it was called Be Your Light. And it was a great event. And a man came up to me. He followed me on Instagram and he said, Matt, I have a gift for you. And he said, put your hand out, and he handed me this. And bless him, I cannot remember for the life of me who he is. If he's watching, please comment. And he gave me this crystal. Have a look at this. It's all the way as well. Oh, wow.
That's quite heavy, isn't it?
Yeah. So I don't know what you can make of it first and what it's made of, but there's like a coil that runs through the middle of it.
So this looks quite resin-made.
Yeah.
But in the bottom there, I can see already there's a slice of selenite here. So selenite is a natural cleanser. There's a selenite ball just behind me, the white ball. So people use selenite as a cleanser because anything that goes inside of it or on top of it, it naturally cleanses. So it's like putting it out in sunlight, basically. So there's a natural cleansing bit of selenite just there.
Yeah.
In the middle here, this does look like natural citrine, which again is that gold one there. This is the very high-grade natural citrine. It's good for prosperity, abundance. If we think of like colors, like I say, sunshine, it brings about joy and happiness, doesn't it?
Yeah.
So that's kind of what we relate that to.
There's a coil, isn't there?
I think there is a copper coil. There is a coil, but I think that's probably copper.
Yeah.
Yeah, but other than that, these ones at the side, I'm not sure they are crystals as such. I think they are more like glass beads and marbles kind of thing.
So when he handed it to me, I don't know if there's anything else you can feel from that, but he handed it to me and bless him, he was a lovely man. I'd never met him at all in my life, but I just knew I was in Belgium and I had a flight to catch the next day. And I was thinking, wow, this is a big moment of trust here because what is it really made from? There's stuff inside that that—
You're totally unaware of.
Yeah. I've got to get through passport. I've got to get through security.
Could have been stuffed with crack.
Absolutely. It could have had crack in there. Genuinely, everything was going through my mind. And it was honestly a really hard decision because it's quite unusual.
Yeah.
And I was at this beautiful event and I was like, and he was, and he actually said to me, this one specifically is going to help with lucid dreaming. And he hadn't read my book yet, but I think he'd heard me talk about how much I love dreaming. And he just said, just place it by your pillow every night and you should have some pretty incredible experiences. So I thought, oh my God, do I, do I trust him or has he set me up here? Like, Does he not like me really and wants me to get sort of arrested at the airport? And it was genuinely a tough decision. And in the end, I just took a punt and I was like, sod it, I'm just gonna take it through. And in the end, they were so relaxed in Belgium, I don't even think they sort of looked at it. But in all seriousness, I've had some of the wildest dreams with that right by my—
Did you keep it on your bedside?
It literally is right by my bedside table. And I can put it sort of on my pineal gland and I can feel it throbbing. You can't hold it for that long, can you?
No.
And not long ago, a friend of ours we were away with who was in a little bit of pain, she could only hold it for a few minutes, couldn't she? So—
It's very weird because I get a weird buzzing sensation at the top.
Yes.
And I don't know why, but I can feel that. I don't know what that is, that little coil, but I can feel like a buzzing, like energy.
Yeah.
I always say, you know, to anyone listening, your own experience is going to be your most compelling truth.
Yeah.
And that's what I found with this work. I think perhaps you, like right back at the start, if I'd have known that about crystals, I probably wouldn't have believed it. But everything I understand now about consciousness being fundamental, it's absolutely true. And just when I asked you that question about where do the meanings for each crystal sort of come from, one being negativity, one being abundance, and I think we sometimes forget the work that our ancestors probably did thousands of years ago, the testing that was probably involved in order for them to go, Right, we've tested now for 100 years. This one is definitely the absorption of negativity.
Yeah.
You know, and sometimes we don't need the proof. It just is like we have to trust the generations before us, don't we? Yeah. Like the physicists of today who are studying.
Don't get me wrong. I think there's proof in the pudding as well.
Right.
Because what I would say to people is, if anyone's listening and they're thinking, hmm, would this work or not? Give it a shot. What have you got to lose? Just like I said. Because the second I started working with pyrite, money started flowing in. I was able to pay my £30,000 debt off within a couple of years. Money started flowing in the business. With the moldavite as well, although it's for rapid transformation, I had someone contact me when I first started selling it saying, I've been going through my own IVF journey and I've been using this moldavite, been dreaming about my little boy on a nightly basis, and I know exactly what he's going to look like, and I've just fell pregnant. Could this be the moldavite? And I was like, I'm not sure, but maybe it's putting you on your highest timeline. Then the second message, then the third, then the fourth, then the fifth. At last count, we were up to 50 canny crystal babies just from using moldavite, from people that were told that they were barren, that they wouldn't be able to have a child. And so I started thinking to myself, well, I'm going to use it. I want a little boy. And so I said to my partner, shall we go through the adoption like, process? And he was like, um, I'm not entirely sure. So I was using my Moldavite daily, and I was like, if we— I was just asking him little leading questions, like, if we had a little boy, what would you call him? And he was like, Jacob. And I was like, okay. And I was like, right, and he would have blonde hair, blue eyes. So I went on Amazon, I got a personalized baby grow, and I put baby Dodds coming December 2023, I think it was. And we hadn't even started the adoption process at this point. Sure enough, we started the adoption process round about the summer 2022. We went through a whole 18 months of grueling backwards and forwards training sessions and all of this. And we were told that we'll never ever be able to choose the sex of the baby, the age of the baby. We could get a 2-year-old toddler for all we knew. We could get a 7-year-old. You go through the adoption process, you don't get to choose, basically. And so we got a call one day from a young— well, it was a social worker that had a meeting with a young mum. She was 18 years old. She'd had a one-night stand. She didn't want her own mother to find out that she was pregnant. She was giving up this child. She would like to meet us. She'd read our profile. So we met her, absolutely got on like a house on fire. She chose us. 2 weeks later, we're invited to the hospital. There she is giving birth. And without us even saying anything, she said, I've called him Jacob.
Oh my God.
And he's got blonde hair and blue eyes. Oh my God. And I would go in into my house most nights holding my Maldivite straight from work. And I'd shout up the stairs and go, Jacob, your tea's ready! And my partner would look over the banister and be like, who's Jacob? What's going on?
Wow.
He thought I'd lost the plot. And I was just consciously doing that, just dropping in little things.
I've got goosebumps now.
And imagining him running down the stairs. And now that's literally all he does.
And you literally adopted a newborn?
Yeah. And he was a newborn.
With Jacob, with blonde hair.
And they said it's only ever happened where they've had a parent give up a child 7 times in 13 years, of all the thousands of adoptions that they've done. And we were one of the 7. So it was like it was meant to be.
Yeah.
He is literally exactly how I imagined him to look.
So for anyone listening, because what I'd love to do here, there's going to be people listening who would love a baby.
Yes.
People here listening would love to manifest more money, healing from health conditions. Let's go through a few.
Yeah.
Because I'm sure those questions will be here. But first, with IVF or trying for a baby, the crystal you use is moldavite. Is that right? Am I saying that right?
Yeah.
I mean, it's not a listed property. We've just found that.
But you found that one for rapid transformation.
Yes.
Now, if I'm right in thinking, just through knowing what I know, you're holding that crystal or you have that crystal around you, but at the same time, you're actively holding the intent. You're super clear. You're shouting, Jacob Teas ready, up the stairs. You're embodying, you're buying a baby grow. So you're co-creating with that energy.
Yes.
And you're also using the vehicle to help with that, which is this particular crystal.
How I see it is a crystal's a bit like a caffeine kick.
Right.
It just gives you a little boost.
Yeah.
Gives you the boost. Is there, with anyone looking to get pregnant, are there any other crystals? Again, I'm sure there's plenty, but any others that you'd recommend for that for anyone listening?
Yeah. So there's a bright red crystal called carnelian, which is really good for passion, desire, focus, determination, but it really makes your power run through. So I know a lot of people when they have an IVF, they can feel really disheartened when something doesn't work. So I think this gives them the strength and the courage and the passion to actually, you know, go out there and just keep on going with it. But it's also good for sexual desire as well. I've known friends that they've said like, oh, my relationship's going down the pan. And I've said, put a carnelian in your knicker drawer. And I'm not even joking. A few weeks later, I'll see them again. They're like, oh my God, it's been amazing. Yeah. And it totally rekindles the romance.
So it's a little bit like having almost like an invisible army with you. Yes, exactly that.
I love that.
Where you're kind of like, because it is a lonely place.
Yeah.
We talk about this quite a lot, that doing any form of this work can sometimes feel quite isolating because some people are like, oh God, like, I don't know.
But what I love with you two is you have each other. Yeah. So my partner doesn't believe in this. He read The Secret at the same time as me because I left it every single day on his bedside table. And he even said he went to work one day, he visualised a £50 note And his boss came over and put 2 £50 notes in his palm and said, that's for the work that you did last week. It was a great piece of work. There you go. And he gave him 2 £50 notes. I mean, when do you ever see a £50 note?
Never.
You did this. And he knows that he did that. And then he's never manifested anything since.
Does he believe it now?
No.
Well, he probably does to a certain extent.
What does he do?
So he's a graphic designer.
Okay.
And during the pandemic, he was forced to open up his own company.
Right.
So yeah, that's what he does. So he designs, you know, everything that I do for Manifestation.
Dream Team.
Honey Crystals.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's really good. But it is quite lonely, like what I was saying.
Sure.
In that I'm buzzing around, you know, all these crystals and this does this and manifestation mindset. But even though we— And he's not interested.
But even though we do this together, Matt and I, I don't work in the same way Matt does.
Yeah.
So Matt loves the science of it. I'm gonna be honest, sometimes I switch off with that. I'm like, nope, because I don't have the ability to retain that. And also, I don't have the space in my brain, right? But I think you have to find your own version of it.
Yeah, of course you do.
So it might be that your partner finds his own version later down the line that's like, well, actually, that's how I like to do it, or that's how I interpret it. I think it has to be your own interpretation of this work.
Yeah, it's funny because he's so recently, like, like red books, you know, from like Wim Hof.
Yes. Yeah.
Um, yeah, just a few like self-development kind of style books.
So that might be his route into it.
I did have a download for him. I don't— you know, I met him at Manifest.
Yeah.
Would you think he'd— he would— he get in, do you think, more in the science route, like Dr. Jodie Spencer, Wim Hof?
Definitely. Yeah. He's more—
do you think he'd be a little bit more like me, like Science to Demystify?
Yes.
You know, I'm the one here saying, Mark, for any skeptics out here, like, you know, how are crystals?
I think on his bedside table right now, he's reading The Body Keeps the Score.
Yeah, one of my favorite books.
Yeah. You know, so it's—
he's very—
he likes the facts, a bit like yourself, whereas I'm more Corazon, let's just go for it.
But yeah, you know, it's— I, I met a physicist, Tom Campbell, who's a hero of mine. You know, he's— I think, I think he has— he's 81, so he's got the greatest knowledge of this work. consciousness. And what he said to me, he said, Matt, every way works. Crystals work, you know, meditation works, breathwork works, he said, and consciousness is fundamental, but everyone has to find their own vehicle for expressing it. So I think crystals are going to be a great way for you to actually, you know, incorporate this work more.
I really connect with this.
For me, it's the science, and for Jonny, perhaps it's the science as well, but we're all coming to the same truth Yeah. That there is an energy behind all of this that works, that helps us with our intentions. So we've just got to find our own way in. Okay, so that was pregnancy. What else, Corissa?
Well, I just wanted to say, also healing.
Healing, yes.
I get so many people message me who— because I had a lot of issues postpartum.
Yes.
And I really struggled with that because I don't like to go down these sort of— I just like to kind of do it myself. I think I don't want to be touched or messed with. I just want to do my own thing. probably an element of control, really. And I think I do get a lot of people message me and say about healing and just— and but I like the way you say, like, you have it with you, which almost means it's like almost penetrating through your body.
Yeah.
Like, it's almost there, like sending the end. Like, if you're charging it, surely then if you have it on, it's going through you and into you. How does that work with the healing, do you think?
Because obviously, if you're, you know, a bit more woo and a bit more spiritual, you'll know about like auras and auric fields If this is inside of your auric field, do you know what I mean? So this one is called green aventurine, and I specifically have this in a heart shape because it's all about health and healing. So it's really good for generating all over the body. So I keep this, you know, around me. These ones on here I tend to work with on a day-to-day basis, but there are so many around my house. But green aventurine is also, um, because it's green, It's also like a money crystal as well. So it's really good for wealth, a bit like jade there. Jade is really good for luck and cash flow. But this is a real great all-rounder for healing in terms of like your body. Yeah.
Oh, I love that.
And what about money? Because I always say, you know, money currency comes from the Latin meaning flow, you know, so money should always flow. And I think so many of us unconsciously, when we make money, hold on to it. But the Just like water that decays, money has to flow. So is there a particular crystal? I think I've heard of citrine being good for that, but are there any that you'd go to? What are your go-tos for sort of money?
So I have a wealth bowl in the wealth area of my house according to feng shui, and in that I have pyrite, I have the natural citrine, I have green aventurine, jade, and a piece of moldavite. I find that that little combination of those 5 are really super powerful. But I also have, I think it's back here, there's a tower, a brown tower just behind me, and that's called tiger's eye. It's really good for focus, determination, strength, and willpower. So I always think about the properties that I'm going to need if I was to get more money. So I'm not just thinking about crystals that enhance your energy around cash flow. Like, if I was to make £100,000 in a month, what kind of—
What you're gonna need to hold it.
What would I need to hold it? So I'm gonna need that strength, that focus, that willpower, that determination. that confidence.
So it's like ingredients.
Yeah, exactly that.
Yes.
So I always— I never just work with one crystal. This is how I travel.
Yeah.
Maybe not as heavy as I have today, but this tends to be how I travel. People say they can hear me coming down corridors.
I'll take your hand luggage.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you're thinking more about who you need to be.
Exactly.
And then you're looking at the, um, the shopping list.
Yeah.
So for anyone starting out who perhaps can't remember everything that we've discussed. Would you say with your own experience, the meanings of each crystal that you find online, have you found them to be accurate yourself?
Yeah.
For someone going on there and looking, let's say on— is your website candycrystals.co.uk? Yes.
Yeah.
So if someone goes on your website and looks, would you say obviously that you found them to be pretty accurate in terms of—
Yeah, and we've fine-tuned them over the years as well because I don't want to overwhelm people, so I come up with the 4 biggest properties that that crystal helps and what it deals with. So anyone can go on the website, and if you wanted to search, you know, something that's going to protect you, type in protection, it'll bring up every crystal that can help you with protection.
Amazing.
If you want fertility, type in fertility. There's even like pre-populated categories on there like anxiety and stress.
Oh, that's amazing.
Do you know what I mean? That people can just click on and think, oh, okay. So, and then they can see what they're connected to because it's one thing someone else buying you a crystal, because then you're stuck with that crystal.
Yes.
But really what I always say to people is, you want to intuitively choose. Now that's harder. It's easier said than done, isn't it, when it's online? Because it's not like walking into a crystal shop where you've got crystals everywhere, and you're like, oh, I like the look of that one. Oh, I can really feel the energy of that one. You don't know until you get it when you order online. So I always say to people, just see what you connect with intuitively. See what images you connect with. Because what you receive might be different. And, you know, we do have people return it because they'll say, I don't really connect with it after all. And I get that.
Okay.
Do you know what I mean? So yeah. Yeah.
So I'm just trying to think, if I was in the— if I was a listener listening now, I think we've answered some great questions, haven't we, about fertility, getting pregnant, sex drive, uh, money, healing, abundance.
He's going to be whacking a carnelian in your naked dress.
I know.
Swing one my way, mate. Um, so just thinking from like a manifestation perspective, people are thinking, okay, well, what, what should I do with the crystals? So depending on the size, carry the cam— carry them around with you.
Yeah, you know, so the perfect thing about these is that they're small enough that you can actually carry in the— on your person, whereas, you know, the huge Labradorite at the back, you're not going to be walking around with that. No, that one sits on my desk and alongside these towers and stuff. But the smaller ones like the little Pyrite Buddha or The tumblestone or even just the shaped ones, I tend to have those in my pocket.
Do you?
Yeah, because they are a reminder every single time I notice that they're there. They're a reminder of the intention that I've set with them.
I love that. Yeah, I like that too.
It's almost like an anchor.
And if someone lives in a real toxic environment, perhaps they could still be living at home with parents or even a toxic partner, would that be then good to have one of those crystals in the house as like a you know, to soak in negativity.
Yeah.
Is that where you'd recommend like the bigger crystals around the house?
Yeah, you could, you could have large crystals around the house as display pieces to absorb, but you can also protect yourself with, you know, crystal jewelry, pendants. You know, there are so many different ways that we can protect ourselves. Um, but even just having them on your person, on your desk, in your car. I mean, in my car I've got tourmaline, I've got black obsidian, because I know that when I'm out on the road, I need to be protected. Ironically, the day that I took it out for my car to be cleaned, someone drove into the side of me.
Interesting. What— oh, can we actually— I know this is a sidetrack.
Yeah.
But you are— and I want to talk about the book in a moment as well, because it's such a great book. And I was saying to Coruscant when I finished reading it, it was such a good reminder of me of the power of storytelling.
Yeah.
Because there's some great stories in here. And you've just reminded me, I was in I was howling with laughter. Sorry about the Alton Towers story.
God, yeah, we were. Yeah.
Could you just tell that story?
Yeah.
So this was so long ago. We went to Alton Towers one day, and I'd bought some tickets off this weird website. I don't even know what kind of website it was. But anyway, it turns out that, you know, I'd probably been scammed. And so me and 4 of my friends all went to Alton Towers. The heavens opened as we got there, the tickets wouldn't scan, and it just felt like the worst day of my life. We were queuing, and I mean for hours, for these rides. We were in there about 10 hours, and we got on 3 rides in total. That's how bad it was. We were like drowned rats. We couldn't get any food or any drink from anywhere because we'd gone for that— is it Scarefest? I think it is. Yeah, I think it is. At Alton Towers during Halloween. It was like the busiest day of the year. We didn't know this. So anyway, got back to my car at about 7 or 8 o'clock. It was starting to get dark, and I'm pressing the button on my car key thinking, where's my car gone? And we walked right up to the top of this hill to where I thought I'd parked the car. I'm pressing the button, and I could just see flashing going on in these trees over the side, and I'm like, what is that? And then I realized I hadn't put my handbrake on. My car had rolled down this hill, smashed into these trees, slashed the tires, And I thought, what is going on here? And so we had to ring the AA. Luckily, one of my friends worked for them. That's how we got them out, because I wasn't paying for the AA. And, um, they basically transported us back to our accommodation where we were staying. As he was lowering the car down off the, the back of the trailer, he drove it into a wall. So he smashed my car into the wall.
Oh, shit.
And then all I could see was Johnny at the side, my partner, going, we need help, we need help. This is 2 in the morning by this point. And I said, what do we need help with? And he went, the alarm's going off in the building, and we don't have a code. And I was like, oh, okay. This is fine, this is fine. And then I remember the next day, I had to get an emergency guy out to fit me with these new tires, just so I could drive this scrap heap home.
Oh my.
Got home, was unpacking, and my purple shampoo had exploded in my suitcase and dyed all of my clothes. And you know, when, like I was saying earlier about the universe kicking you while you were down, this had all happened about— this was about 4 or 5 months after my granddad passed. This was like—
Before the crystals, before anything? Yeah.
This was when I really felt in the midst of it all.
Oh no.
And it was almost like a kick from the universe that, you know, while you're down there—
Well, it sounds awful. It's a funny story.
Yeah, thanks, Matt.
Is it a gross end?
But it's a You know, great book.
Yeah.
Really great. Because I think what's really nice is it's really relatable, but it's also really nice to hear stories, which is what I really— I think some— I mean, I really, I'm not gonna lie, I really struggle reading in general. And I just loved like reading your stories and just like, it just felt like I could connect to pieces of it and to you before I'd even met you, which is really nice.
So thank you. I think because I'm not I don't class myself as an author. Like, that book, it was crazy. On the day it came out, it went to number 1 in 9 categories on Amazon.
I'm not surprised.
And it was number 1 in the US, Australia, and the UK. But worldwide, it was number 8 of all books on the day of release.
That's amazing.
Of all books.
That's incredible.
And I was above The Secret. I was above, you know, all of these huge books that I'd read. And I was like, I just don't get it. But when I was writing that book, Jake— I started writing that in December 2023, and Jacob was born in January 2024. So he was literally in a little nest bed next to me on the couch asleep, because that's what babies do, they sleep all the time. And I was sat there on my laptop, having had 2 hours sleep, writing that book.
What I love about everything we've spoken about, and I think we're sort of getting towards the end of a great conversation, and I'd love to just finish with a little bit more of the story of how you manifested being an author is we're sat here today with someone who seriously knows his stuff when it comes to crystals. And you're walking the talk. You are an international bestselling author. You've just blown us away by what you've been able to achieve with crystals. You've got a number 1 podcast that's hitting number 1 every Friday on Apple. Obviously, you've got Manifest, which we'll talk about in a moment as well, which is the second year running. I was fortunate enough to speak there this year. Incredible. But for anyone, what's great is how actually you started in £30,000 worth of debt, working for the NHS on an average salary, struggling, and you've achieved all this in a really short period of time when you think about it.
Yeah.
And so many incredible— and also, let's not forget the best manifestation of them all, manifesting Jacob, a newborn, which is Which is like one in a million, literally. So just talk us through how you manifested being an author, and then why don't we talk about Manifest and everything else you're doing at the moment and where people can find you?
Yeah. So like I was saying earlier, I never really thought of myself as an author, but I know that some people connect with a book rather than they would a podcast. And so I toyed backwards and forwards with even just getting the transcripts of my podcast and putting them in book format. in, you know, like a blog or something like that so that people could then read rather than just listen. And just on a chance encounter, I met someone at an event and she said, you know what would be amazing? If you could come on board and, you know, we'll write a book with you and we'll publish it and we'll get it out there. And I was like, okay, let's do it. And like I say, I just started writing.
That's it?
It took me, I'm going to say about 18 months From when I first started writing it to the release date. So it was a lot more tedious than I thought it was going to be.
It's hard, isn't it?
Yeah, if it wasn't for them being like holding me accountable on a day-to-day basis, I probably wouldn't have got there.
I think author to author, it's hard, isn't it? Yeah, it's really hard.
I just thought, oh, it'll be, you know, really easy writing this book, but it wasn't. It really wasn't. And there's some times when you open your laptop to write and nothing comes out.
Yeah.
Because you're not inspired. So I found myself, you know, taking myself off to the beach just to open my laptop. And I felt that I wrote better when I was at the beach because there was a lot of inspiration around. I felt a lot more energetic. Whereas if I was just sat at home, I didn't have the same—
Because it's quite lonely, isn't it? You've got to write from a place of, like, people wanting to read, but you're kind of sat on your own in, like, a space.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, it's quite isolating, isn't it?
Yeah, very.
Yeah.
And so once the book was out, I just started thinking, what's next?
Yeah.
What's next? And one thing I had done that previous year is I'd held a one-night event at the Barbican in London. And that sold out. And that was to about 800 people. And that was with myself and Francesca Amber. And I just suddenly thought, maybe if I do more events, you know, spreading the word a bit more, Maybe I could bring something to Newcastle. And so I thought, well, what could I call it? An indoor-outdoor festival? What could we call it? Straight away I just thought, oh, ManiFest.
It's the best name, isn't it, guys?
It's so good.
Yeah. It's such a good name.
But the amount of messages I get from people saying, why is it called ManiFest if it's not in Manchester? And I'm like, no, no, no, no, not money as in Manchester. Mani as in manifest. They don't get it. I thought it was a great play on words.
Absolutely.
I got it instantly. That's so great. Yeah.
And so, I just came up with that idea when I was around my friend's house. We were having a cup of tea in the back garden. And I said, I'm thinking of having another event. And I'm going to get Kirsty Gallagher. And I'm going to, you know, get Francesca Amber, all these amazing speakers that have been on my podcast. We're going to have a party. And they're just going to have 45-minute slots. We'll have a couple of workshops. And we did that first day. And I don't know how I pulled it off. Because I didn't— I had no team.
You were by yourself?
Absolutely by myself.
Oh my goodness, I don't know how you did that.
So I was looking after a 1-year-old, running a podcast, running an academy, packing all my orders, and doing this huge event. And I did it all myself. And the feedback forms went out, and the feedback forms were incredible. People wanted more. They wanted a winter one. They wanted mini-fests.
I'm just like— I'm not surprised though. It's your energy. It's your energy. That's the thing.
So then the second year, I remember thinking of a lineup. And obviously, Matt had come onto my radar. I'd started following him on Instagram. And I remember reaching out to you by DM, I think it was, or email. And you'd said to me, it's so funny that you've invited me to speak at this because you've been on my radar, and I watched all this go down last year.
I did.
And I would love to be part of it.
I did.
And I was like, oh, okay, he knows about us. And I got really giddy because I was like, Matt's like a huge manifestation superstar. And straight away, for me, booking you was for my own pleasure.
Oh, thank you, Martin. It's funny you say that though, because I always say that you forget sometimes that what you're manifesting might be manifesting you.
Yeah, yeah.
Literally, I saw it the year before and I thought, I'll have to, I'll have to do that one year. Like, it seems really cool. And from, from someone that literally spoke there— when was it, Martin? June? Was it May?
Yes, mid-June.
Mid-June. Yeah, it was amazing. And this year it was 2 days and I actually arrived the day before and I got to watch Francesca and some other amazing speakers speak that day. You obviously had a team this year.
Yes.
But it was just so well executed and people traveled from all over.
Yeah.
People were traveling from Europe. I even think I saw someone travel from the US. Yeah.
So last year we had 2 women came over from New Zealand and 2 from New York. This year we had New York, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, It blows my mind that people would travel all that way just for a little event.
It's bringing people together though, because there is nothing like energy in a room.
Yeah, there isn't.
I don't think there is anything like— you can't beat that.
No, you can't. And I think when I put together the lineup for Manifest, because I'm a good— like, I'm a massive festivalgoer, I'm a massive concertgoer, like, I love to go and see huge acts, you know, like Beyoncé, Kylie, Madonna. That's so gay, but you know what I mean. But I always like to be right at the very front because I want the best experience.
Yeah.
And so when I'm putting together that lineup for Manifest, I'm thinking, how can I bring that feeling of having the best experience and being so intimate and so close to these amazing, you know, authors, teachers, coaches? And so I book the best of the best, but I book them with the thought of, you know, they have to flow because all of the sessions all flow into each other. And yes, they're all talking about manifestation, or mindset, or spirituality, but every single person has a different perspective that they tell. So I always make sure that, you know, when I'm putting people on, that they're in the right order. So, you know, you ended, um, the Sunday, and you ended it because your talk was just incredible. You handed the mic over at one point and said, and that's me done, Mart. And I couldn't even speak, I was so choked. My eyes were watering.
Aww.
I'm just walking straight forward going, oh, thank you. Thank you, Matt.
But you're right, like, I loved being there as a participant watching, and I met some great people. In fact, the, the Poppy who's coming on our podcast later today, I met at Manifest. And you're absolutely right, even though we're all talking about manifestation, everyone's sharing and teaching it through their own unique lens.
Yeah.
And that's what's so incredible. I always say to anyone watching this right now, whether you love the quantum mechanics like Matt Cooke Or crystals like Mart, or you can meditate like Coruscant. There's no one size, like find your own way. And that's what's so beautiful. So tickets for ManiFest 2027 are— can people book? Are they like, how do people get tickets?
So if people go to mani-fest.uk or just click the link in my bio on Canny Crystals, you'll see it. So the early bird tickets are out right now as this episode goes out. So you can get early bird tickets at the lowest price. But next year we're having it in an arena.
Ooh.
And I say an arena, it's a basketball arena.
Really?
It's not like a huge, like, 15,000 capacity arena. So the capacity for the hall that we are using is gonna be 650. But 650 people, when we had 2,000 people watching online this year, I wanna get some of those 2,000 in the room.
In the room. They've gotta be there to experience the feeling, haven't they? For sure.
But at the end of Manifest this year, I said to people, look, we don't know who's going to be on the lineup for next year. We don't even know when the venue is. Yeah, we don't know what the date is. Here's the link to buy. And 220 people bought tickets straight away.
I'm not surprised. And there was 400 people in the room, so there's only about 400-odd tickets left. Yeah, I'm not surprised. I would, I would say to anyone listening, um, come because you're going to experience everything. And, and the trade stalls as well, to buy, to buy candles, crystals, and everything else that was Yeah. So, okay, Matt, what a great conversation.
Amazing.
So for anyone who wants to learn more firstly about crystals and understand how they can individually help them, go to cannycrystals.co.uk. Is that right?
Yeah. Or they can listen to my podcast. I talk about them weekly. Every Friday there's a brand new episode.
Yeah.
And that's Cannycrystals Podcast?
Yes, same name.
Brilliant.
And have you got a digital AI, like, persona as well? Did I— have you got like a—
Yes. So I have something in my academy called Smart Mart. Smart Mart.
I love that.
Which is basically my little Delphi AI.
Oh, which I've got.
I know you've got one as well.
Yeah.
And it's just great because when I'm in my academy, my academy students, like I say, they're from all over the world, and sometimes they're waiting overnight for an answer. And I know that when I want an answer for something, I want it instantly.
Yeah.
So I thought, okay, so this Delphi AI is trained in all of my podcast teachings, you know, my book. It's absorbed all of my course knowledge. It literally talks exactly as I would. Like, the other day someone had asked it like about manifestation, and it gave the Alison Hammond anecdote. And I'm like, how does it know that?
It's incredible, isn't it? Yeah.
But it's not like ChatGPT. It's like ChatGPT on steroids with your personality.
So, I mean, promoting it for you, because I have my own. Like, the way I teach is if you go to ChatGPT, it's going to give you generic crystal advice. The way I understand this intelligence, it's like a newborn baby. You know, it's built— you have to program it by giving it only your stuff, your book, your podcast, your courses. And the reason I'm thinking now is if someone's hearing that, I'd love to ask Matt what crystals he'd recommend because I'm going through this.
So there is a chat feature on cannycrystals.co.uk. In the bottom right-hand corner, there's a little black thing that brings up my Delphi, and that will answer specifically crystal-related questions.
Great.
Nothing else but puzzles.
I love that.
So if you need any help.
The only thing I was gonna say though is we've called this Beyond Podcast.
Yes.
I think there's so many times in this whole conversation you've gone beyond. But what does that word mean to you?
Oh, to go beyond, just to go over and above. And I think that's something that I embody on a day-to-day basis. Like even coming here today, like, I'm so thankful. for you two giving up your time, that I've brought you gifts that, you know, for not, not just for yourselves, but for your people, for your Lionsgate portal in New York. And that is me. I do go beyond constantly. And I think sometimes I think of it as quite a sad thing because I'm like, I'm clearly doing it because I want to be liked, because it goes back down to my childhood.
Yes.
And, you know, everything there. But I always think, treat others how you want to be treated. And if someone did something like that for me, yeah. Do you know where I'm coming from?
Absolutely.
I love this conversation.
I could speak to you for hours.
Yeah.
Is that you're someone that really does give with no string attached to the receiving part of it. Yeah.
I don't give to people in the hope that, you know, one day it'll come back to me. I just give because I'm kind.
And some people do give with a secret string attached, hoping that if I do this, then I'll get something in return. And it's just the law of consciousness that I've personally studied that I think listening to your fascinating story, you give, give, give. And there's no wonder why you've received, received, received. And I just wish you all the best, not that you need it, because I'm so excited to see where your own journey goes. Perhaps in the near future we'll have round 2.
Oh, I think that's—
I think we should keep going. I think for me, for sure, now I'm definitely going to start using crystals more myself. You know, I had them around, but of course didn't do things such as cleansing them and treating them like a battery, which makes so much sense to me. And yeah, it really, really does fit with the model of how I understand manifestation. And thank you for bringing a suitcase and crystals with you and getting a train from Newcastle all the way to London here.
So You're welcome. Thank you.
But mark this date in your diary from today because I want to know in a year's time what that moldavite has done for you both. Yes.
Well, I think honestly more— I can say more in the near future, but this has come at a perfect time, um, for, for everything that we're working on right now. So I will carry this around with me for sure. I will definitely not lose it.
Please don't. Very expensive.
And thank you so much, Miles.
Thank you so much for that, Matt. Um, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
