Matthew Kelly talks about moving from Illustrator and Premiere Pro to mastering After Effects, learning from Josh at Elvis Agency. The video follows his progression from basic design tools to becoming proficient with professional motion graphics software.
But I started a really stupid way. I used to design.
Every slide in.
Illustrator and then I'd import it into.
Premiere Pro and just like.
Shorten and then add. So everything was very basic movement and nothing crazy. And then I got to a point where I was like, I really need to learn this properly. But I was still using Premiere Pro. I never touched After Effects for a couple of years.
And then the first guy I brought.
On with Indigo, the first editor who still works with me now, Josh, come.
From an agency.
Called Elvis Agency, and.
They was doing, like, Cadbury's ads. And he.
Knew loads of shit.
Like, he's been doing.
After Effects for, like, seven years. So I used to.
Get shoot lessons off of him.
So I was paying.
Him to edit for me.
But then on like, a Friday, I'd be like, can we do, like, three.
Hours where you just teach me After Effects?
And I found that.
I was overusing Premiere Pro.
It was, like, much easier.
If you use After Effects, you can.
Do way more with it. And then from there, it just kind of led. I just got deeper and deeper into it. And pretty much I use them hand in hand, but I mostly use After Effects.
