Hustle House Marbella, Stress Free Scale & Leveraging Network - Documenting the journey - Episode 5

Seb Evans records a casual vlog-style business update from a villa in Marbella, describing recent scaling milestones and the benefit of his network. He reports operational facts: 5,000 units of stock landed, another 10,000 units due in ~1 month, about 600 subscribers (~£20k MRR), day-to-day profitability, and plans to scale measuredly (claims potential to reach ~10k sales/day within ~2 months). He also mentions hiring an FD part-time, leaning toward measured growth with a possible fundraising push in ~6 months, and emphasizes networking and work-life balance while staying with other founders in the villa.

Right fellas, back with another document. In the journey episode, I appeared to be a fucking YouTube vlogger for the first time. Trying to use this lapel mic. Didn't do an episode on Thursday. All the fucking boys out here in this hustle house Villa. No idea what this looks like or sounds like compared to normal, but it's a pretty nice setup. Thought I'd do a brief little update. Not sat at my desk as usual. I'm gonna wander around the village grounds and show you what's up. So what is it? We're about two days late on the update today, I guess. Yeah, just starting to scale really. I think I said we crossed a big milestone in a previous episode or two episodes ago. We're now crossing past that total milestone on like a monthly run rate level and pushing that up. Alex, pretty tanned and yeah, gonna be a brief episode today. Getting on an FD part time, that's probably one big change. That's one big thing. Alex, one of my investors been helping me with stock. We had 5000 units land yesterday. Another 10k coming in like a month. Probably gonna have to order more because I think we could scale this to like 10k a day within like the next 2 months based on my ad performance and so on. But I'm trying to be more measured, which I haven't been in the past, so that's one thing. What else has been going on? Customer service been really smooth. We're starting to see the benefit of subscription orders coming in. We've got like 600 subscribers now, I think, which is like top of my head, like 20k mrr already, which is pretty cool after like bang on 8 weeks, which is obviously the first time I've ever had that in any brand I've worked on. So definitely seeing the benefit there. What else is going on really? Just building the foundations, I suppose. I, for the first time don't feel that stressed by being away and like not working a thousand percent of the time because this is like a two hour maintenance shift every day when we're in this sort of place really, but shit's going pretty smooth. We're profitable on a day to day, which is nice. That's always going to be the aim for me, even when I'm raising money. I know a lot of brands that do raise money. Kind of a shame that they don't have to be profitable. I've always operated that way where I do want to be profitable. So yeah, it's been nice not being super, super stressed. Fucking know the sun is getting in my face, my hair looks weird. And yeah, this also house villa. So everyone always asks me. It's like the most common question I get is how do I fucking meet cool people? How do I do this, this and this? I mean, go watch all 40 episodes of the pod to answer that question. But, yeah, this is an example of just like a really cool setup. We're out here working and partying a bit. Got Jimmy from Hair Burst, Fred from Sunucci, Tyler his videographer. Who else is here? Ollie and Joe from Saw staying down the road. They're also some of my investors. They run a big agency. Who else is here? Adam from Crown and Poor, a bunch of. A bunch of the poddy boys, basically, that have been on the POD are here in this mad fucking villa. That's a pretty cool angle. And yeah, it's nice to get loose with dons that. In a nice place with dons that are actually doing cool shit. And that's, I think, probably my greatest asset really is my network. So we talk about business, we talk about life, whatever. Drink red wine. And yeah, I'm rambling, but the point is, the people you have around you is like the most fucking important thing. And a week like this, for a week, I think a week like this is testament to that and is exactly. Is exactly what I enjoy most, really. Now I'm gonna go for a wander around here. This mic's still working. Yeah, this villa is like some mad, mad Airbnb spec. Would definitely like to get a massive exit and buy one of these one day, what we're saying around the front. But yeah, I think business update wise, I feel less stressed, which is nice. Seems to be going pretty smooth. And I think that's testament to the fact that I put a lot of groundwork in, particularly over the past few months. Obviously I have experience now, so I'm not making mistakes that I may have made otherwise if I didn't have experience. And I was starting from scratch. And yeah, really, we're just waiting on more stock. Starting to very gradually scale up because I want to be more measured and, like, actually hit targets rather than just like Chad scaling to the moon, which I've done in the past. So, yeah, next few months will be interesting. My goal was always to get, like, a very, very solid six months under my belt, and then you have, like, a real grasp on, like, data that's a bit more stable and, like, indicative of where the business is going, rather than just like maybe a first month that was good, etc. Etc. So I've Been there before where you know, scale something and it stops working or whatever. So conscious of that. But I think maybe in six months I look to raise like maybe some more money to just go parabolic on it a little bit more because that's always going to be an issue with a stock based business. And yeah, I don't know, I've got a lot of options for that which I've been planting seeds with the right people. But we'll see. All in all. Yeah, it's nice to reward yourself sometimes with the trip away etc, because I had a very rough year last year and was in the trenches building this year for like six months. So this week has felt like a. Not a celebration of that because it's still working and there's plenty of other cool things I'll be doing in summer, etc. But yeah, it's just felt like a reflective period in a way to acknowledge. Yeah, it's cool building and nothing exists until you create it really. So yeah, I don't know where I'm going with this episode. It's hard to record when I'm in the sun and I'm not on my laptop looking at. So I'll wrap it up there but I wanted to just put another episode in and yeah, gonna go enjoy the sun. I think we're going to a beach club later so that should be lit and I'm gonna hopefully come back and buy this mansion in a few years time when space gets a scale to the fucking moon. Let's go boys. See you on the next one.
