Launching our Spacegoods ready to drink can at London's biggest coffee festival

Matthew Kelly and Julia launch Spacegoods' new ready-to-drink coffee cans at London Coffee Festival, handing out samples of coffee-caramel and coffee flavors made with lion's mane and ashwagandha. Customers gave scores above 10, and Matthew shares plans to redesign the stand for next year and ship to Dubai.

Right, we're here at London Coffee Festival. I couldn't be arsed getting my DJI out, so I'm filming on this. Yeah, this is the stand. This is our part-time social media manager who basically just follows me everywhere. How do I flip the camera around? This is confusing. Yeah, we got this little— demonstrate please— this thing where if you— it's basically to test your focus engine. It's actually fucking hard to be fair. It's like Operation when you were a kid. If you can get it without touching it 3 times, you win £200 or something. People are going crazy about that. We're here sampling the standard powders and so on. Here we have obviously a wall of the original powders and so on. We've got a vending machine where people can come and get sachets for free if they give us their email. And then of course— it's too busy in here— we have the RTD fridge, because obviously we launched the RTD. I'm forcing people to be on the YouTube accidentally. I'm on front-facing camera, it's impossible to see who's in it. So yeah. Yeah, I just couldn't be arsed filming on the DJI.
This is going to be in the office now.
Oh yeah, that's cool. So as you've seen in previous videos, we've got the coffee caramel, the— well, not black coffee because it's got milk, but coffee caramel, coffee, and it's Rainbow Dust in can form. Giving out these all day, so come by and get one. And if we have a wander around, which we probably will do today— so yeah, this is the stand. It's kind of annoying there's a white pole in the front of it. I've kind of just realized that. Um, but yeah, it's the first time we've done a proper branded stand. I actually think our stand looks better than most stands here, to be honest. I'm not just saying that. Obviously fully branded. Um, an agency did this, but I had some saying what it looked and felt like, etc. But it's obviously quite small. It's a relatively cheap event, if I'm honest, this one. But it's like the first one we've done where we can actually sample a format that makes sense with, I think it's 30,000 people coming in the next 2 days to this event over 3 floors. So it is genuinely quite busy. You get a better view there. Yeah, a few of the team here. I'm not officially on the rota to give out stuff, so I can just walk around talking shit and interviewing people, which is the plan today to get some reactions, primarily to the RTD. Hey, so Julia, the whole team is trying the SpaceKuz RTD. Have you tried it yet?
Yes.
Honest first thoughts?
My favorite is coffee caramel.
Do you want to try one live on camera right now so I can make sure you're not lying? I mean, I'm not going to say it's bad, am I? But we did sample this for a while. The whole idea of this was obviously Rainbow Dust Space Juice in a can for the very first time, but separate to that, all the Costa, Starbucks, Jimmy's iced coffee, all that stuff you see on the shelves in Tesco, every other shop, it's fucking shit in comparison. I'm not gonna lie, this is that. It tastes just as good without as much sugar, without the calories, but with functional ingredients for focus, energy, and calm. So Lion's Mane, ashwagandha, and other stuff in there with the ultimate flow state blend. I'm mega ADHD, it's why I started the brand like 4 years ago, which is probably why I'm speaking super quick as well in this very, very busy coffee festival. But yeah, coffee flavour and coffee caramel with oat milk. We went for oat milk because that's the most popular way most people drink coffee, at least in our customer base. I'm kind of a black coffee kind of guy, but for me this is like a late morning afternoon type drink. It's the best tasting and most easily travel-with-able format of Rainbow Dust ever. Is that the best way to describe it? Best tasting, most easy. What's the best way to describe that? Yeah, it's good. It honestly tastes great. Try it. Focus Energy Calm, the ultimate flow state blend. Get on the Space Cuz RTD.
Right.
We've got this mega chad uni student who is controversially doubting the efficaciousness of ashwagandha, trying the Rainbow Dust RTD for the first time.
We're not, we're not sure, but we'll see how it tastes. I like the packaging, so. Oh, sorry.
Give me your honest opinion, it can be good or bad.
Yeah, so I instantly feel like 100 times better in every single way. No, I'm only kidding. It's very nice, it tastes very nice, you know, it's very well dosed as well. So yeah, I'll definitely like keep trying it and stuff when it, when it's launched. So we'll see.
Yeah, right, so stand is booming. It's like half 11 in the morning. We seem to be the most popular one in the area. I'm not just saying that. I think the fact we're pink and we're giving out free shit is helping. But also the brand is probably one of the most well-known in the place, because to be honest, it's quite like a— it seems like quite a niche coffee festival vibe. Yeah, maybe I shouldn't say that, but I didn't— I don't know a lot of the brands here. I think they're more like artisan coffee shop sort of brands rather than D2C chads. So yeah, it's quite an interesting mix. Because obviously a lot of people have seen us online. I mean, a lot of people have seen the ads but haven't tried it before, so it's quite cool. And obviously always good to meet customers and prospective customers in real life. But yeah, we're obviously mainly giving out these cans, which have been going down very well, and sampling a lot of other stuff. Feel like I should have got a haircut before this event, but we'll make it work. Okay, we're doing a live taste test. Give me your honest opinion.
Wait, I haven't tried it. Oh, sorry. It tastes wonderful. It's a new version of iced coffee I haven't tried out before.
Yeah.
Also, it has a lot of positive things like focus, productivity, energy. So cheers.
Tell us out of 10, what do you think?
Oh, out of 10? 12, 13, 14.
You're not going to get a high score, so give me a proper answer. How have you found the day?
Very fun. Lots of people interested in the brand. Very successful and very tiring, so I need a can to wake up.
Yeah, same. Right, I've been in this stand all day. I'm fucking knackered, to be fair. Speaking to people all day and being on feet all day reminds me of working in retail. But you can see the stand, it's got a very annoying white pole in front of it. Far too much caffeine today. Far too much speaking to people, far too much standing up. But yes, the first full day of the consumer stuff, which has been interesting here again. Well, sorry, the mass market, as in people that aren't buyers. It's 2 days of buyer stuff. I was in there for one yesterday and today, the first consumer day, and tomorrow is the second day, which I'll be back for. But yeah, it's a busy old event. I think we've learned a lot from how to make the stand interesting. The stand has been very, very popular, to be fair. Partly because of the position, partly because of the brand being well known, and partly because of the colors. But I think we could do better with our outfits. I think the pink t-shirt's a bit tacky, if I'm honest. We can do better. Probably didn't staff it well enough as well. Just not enough people to serve everyone that wanted to be here. But I think the game's gone down well. I think we could get a better position next year. It's the first proper thing we've done of this. There's plenty of others. And with the RTD, obviously it makes a lot more sense. So all in all, good day, and we'll catch you tomorrow. So we've got a lady with flat white or fuck off, which is the correct attitude, about to try the Rainbow Dust Space Good RTD for the first time. Give me your honest opinion.
That's really— that is so nice. Like, it's like sweet.
It's good. Are you just saying that or is that sincere?
No, I really like it. I really like like iced coffees. Hey guys, we are at the London Coffee Festival sampling our new ready-to-drink can. Come take a look. It's only midday and it's going down very quickly. We have literally refilled the fridge so many times. Everyone is loving it. We have coffee caramel and we have the coffee flavor. My favorite is coffee caramel, but yeah, they are flying off the shelves and unfortunately they're not out for another month yet, but everyone's very excited.
Hey guys, so day 4 of London Coffee Festival here on the final day on Sunday. I've retired the pink t-shirt because it made me look very fat. Next year we're going to come back with a gradient Casablanca collab with a nice silk pink-purple gradient. I think I'm currently leading on this. Oh no, hold on. Have I been taken off here? Because my time was 1:03. Ah, okay, Space Goods, fine. So basically two of us from Space Goods are beating everyone else because we have a lot of Rainbow Dust in our lives. I'll bring you around. We are still dishing out cans. We're not refilling the fridge anymore, but obviously, as I said, these have gone down very well. They're actually— they get me pretty wired, to be honest, but in a good way, into flow state. Coffee Caramel is my personal favorite. Um, shit, we're gonna need to take some of these to Dubai tomorrow. I'm flying back to Dubai. I'm gonna need to load the fridge up with like— I need one of these in my house. And I'm going to make sure I get one. Met a lot of customers, which has been cool because I rarely do that. There was one guy that was like borderline in tears because he's been a customer for like 4 years. Can you pay attention to the phone? You're meant to be a content person. Raise it up. This is what happens when you have a part-timer. Met a lot of customers. One guy had been a customer for like 4 years, was like borderline in tears to meet the team and see the brand in real life. Another lady said she was a massive fan, came over, wanted to meet, talk about the products, how it changed her life, all this stuff. I think you get the super fans at these events, but also lots of people that A, haven't even heard of mushroom coffee, which is quite surprising, or B, had heard of mushroom coffee and in my opinion, strangely, had never heard of us because we spend enough on Meta. But yeah, it just proves that the market is big. The market is getting crowded and obviously got a lot of momentum, but it's still early. I think mushrooms and other functional ingredients are obviously new, like seeing cool brands like this as well. Like, this is not a competitor. So, you know, non-alcoholic beer with mushrooms in it, which is proof of my point that there's still more and more brands coming into the space. And yeah, we're going to be here for a few more hours. If you've not stopped by, come down. Probably going to be doing more of these events going forward. I think we need a bigger stand and one without a metal pole in the front, but yeah, it's been good all in all. Right, final day at London Coffee Festival. Still fucking busy. I have retired the pink t-shirt because it made me look fat, and next year I'll wear something better. Given out thousands of cans. It's quite a small room, so it's constantly packed, but our stand has definitely been one of the busier ones. We'll do a little walk around. I think it's gone down well. Next year, definitely learnings we can take to this festival, but also others that we'll do later in the year. Yeah, footfall is good. It's just annoying we've got a bloody stand— sorry, a pole— right in front of the stand, which you can see there. But yeah, I just think the colors stand out and I look really worn out ironically given it's a focused energy brand. But I need to go and interview some customers, live taste tests and all this. Quite cool to meet people because I met a customer that had been a customer for 4 years and he was like nearly in tears saying the product had changed his life. And then also one that used to be a customer, said they couldn't afford it anymore, so I just gave them a free shirt. I'm meant to be selling stuff, but Fuck that, when you meet people in real life like that, it's not the style, I don't think. And gave, asked her to email me, gave her a lifetime discount code, so yeah, a man of the people really. So gonna do some interviews and catch up a bit.
I've been driving all night.
