Short motivational/instructional piece advising sales consultants to probe beyond surface goals to elicit clients’ emotions during consultations. Argues that buyers decide emotionally (not logically) and that deep ‘why’ and visualization questions (e.g., how achieving a goal will feel in 12 months) increase conversion and long-term retention.
If your sales conversion rate is under 80%, you're more than likely not getting people into an emotional state of mind during the consultation process. Now, when you ask the question being like, cool, well, what goals do you want to achieve? You need to dive deeper into that question. Once they give you the surface level answer, you need to dive deeper, what's next? So let's just say someone wants to lose 20 kilos. Why do they want to lose that 20 kilos? Is it to feel better? Is it confidence? Is it to run around with their kids? Why do they specifically want to get that result? What is that result going to do for them in their life? And the next question you could ask as a follow up, Cool, So if we were to get that result over the next 12 months, how would you feel? What would it look like if we were to achieve that goal? Once you go deep into these type of questions, you're going to create emotional, emotional emotion. People will buy off emotion, not logic. They buy off emotion and then they logistically stay because they get results. Okay, so let that think in, follow for more value.
