Nvidia, Polte Group, and Span are planning to embed AI data centers in new homes, with each unit containing 16 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and 3 TB of RAM. Homeowners could rent out their excess computing power to companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, earning money similar to cryptocurrency mining.

Nvidia and Polte Group are partnering with startup Span to install mini data centers on the walls of new homes. Each unit packs 16 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, 4 AMD EPYC CPUs, and 3 terabytes of RAM, and taps unused home electrical capacity to run AI inference workloads. So like, new homes are going to have AI built into them. It's gonna be like internet or cable. You're just gonna have like an AI module built onto your house that's like an AI supercomputer. I can also see this playing out in a way where where you have your own personal compute at home, your own personal data center to run AI whenever you want, and then your excess capacity could go to like the Anthropics and OpenAIs of the world. And when your compute is being used, you earn money for the compute that you generated, similar again to like blockchain mining. I don't know which direction it's gonna go. I'm inferring a lot here, but, uh, interesting concept.
