Matt Wolfe shows how to access Kimi K3 despite the waitlist by signing up on platform.kimi.ai, adding $1 in billing credit, and selecting the model in the AI Play playground. You can push the context window to 1 million tokens and max out reasoning effort.

The government is actively trying to ban this new AI model because it's that good, and apparently nobody can even pay to access it right now. So here's a workaround if you want to use it. It's called KIMI K3, and if you want the really powerful version, the K3 Swarm model, you need a paid membership. But KIMI just paused new subscriptions because so many people tried to sign up. But if you go to platform.kimi.ai, which is KIMI's developer platform, and create an account, go to the billing section and add any amount of credit, like a buck will do. Then open the AI Play playground, KIMI K3 should appear in the model selector. Then open the settings and you can crank that context window all the way up to that 1 million token context limit, increase the reasoning effort, and now you're basically accessing the most capable single agent version of K3. Then just type your prompt directly into the playground and use it like any other chatbot. So while everyone else is sitting on the waitlist, you can use KIMI K3. Well, at least until the government bans it.
