In this segment Matt Wolfe argues that Google Search is evolving into an AI‑first experience. He describes how the traditional list of organic results is being supplemented—or eventually replaced—by a longer, AI‑generated prompt box that provides a concise overview of the query. Using the example query “best video games of 2026,” Wolfe shows that the AI overview appears in a small widget, with an option to “show more” that expands into a full AI answer. He warns that if Google continues to scrape the content of existing blog posts and surface it directly in the AI overview, users may no longer click through to the original sites. This would cause a drastic reduction in referral traffic for publishers that rely on organic search clicks, fundamentally reshaping the SEO landscape and the business models of content‑driven websites.
