OpenAI VS. Anthropic Beef Explained

OpenAI and Anthropic took different approaches to Super Bowl ads. OpenAI promoted its free tier and $8-a-month ChatGPT plan with no ads in chats. Anthropic's ad drew criticism for being misleading, and when Sam Altman responded on X, his reply got 8.8 million views versus 2.7 million on the original ad.
This weekend is the super bowl in the US and both OpenAI and Anthropic bought ads. Now, OpenAI is just really kind of talking about their own product, but Anthropic, they chose violence. How do I communicate better with my mom?
Great question. Improved communication with your mom can bring you closer. Here are some techniques you can try. Start by listening. Really hear what she's trying to say underneath her words. Build conversation from points of agreement. Find a connection through shared activity, perhaps a nature walk. Or if the relationship can't be fixed, find emotional connection with other older women on Golden Encounters, the mature dating site that connects sensitive cubs with roaring cougars. What would you like me to create your profile?
This is an attack at OpenAI because obviously OpenAI said they are going to use ads to be able to have a free version and an $8 a month go version of ChatGPT. However, OpenAI has been very clear, very transparent about this. The ads are not going to be within the responses of the chat messages. After this ad started circulating on X. Well, Sam Altman actually responded. He said first the good part of the Anthropic ads. They're funny. And I laughed. But I wonder why Anthropic would go for something so clearly dishonest. Our most important principle for ads says that we won't do exactly this. We are not stupid, and we know our users would reject that. And then he kind of goes on to attack Anthropic a little bit here. More Texans use ChatGPT for free than total people use Claude in the US something I find kind of funny about all of this, though, is is that I almost feel like Sam Altman sort of Streisand affected himself, where he brought more attention to what was happening with these ads than would have happened had he just not said anything. This response to the ad has 8.8 million views on it on X. The Anthropic ad itself only has 2.7 million views on X. Nikita here even says never respond to playful humor with an essay. Just say damn, they cooked us. Or make a joke about them like OpenAI's models. I like Claude's models. I think they're both actually decent models and I'm not rooting for either one of them to lose.
