Short excerpt from a YouTube video ("The AI Tools Race is Getting Crazy") where two speakers discuss that some Stable Diffusion models (e.g., shared on Civitai) are approaching Midjourney-quality outputs, erasing lead advantages; they express concern that incumbents (Google, Meta, Microsoft) might dominate the market, and one speaker questions when Google last launched a widely adopted new product.
You know, and some of these other tools now, even some of these stable diffusion models that we see on Civitai, they're like very close to mid journey's output and some of these head starts have been kind of erased. And I just feel like there is this possibility that the incumbents, you know, Google, Meta, Microsoft, they're going to take the whole pie.
My feeling is like, you know, when's the last new Google product that like people actually use?
Fair. Fair.
That's like my huge skepticism about everything that Google does is like, name one new product. I can't name one. I mean, they own YouTube. That's great. You know, they bought that. But what have they built that people actually use that's new? Nothing, basically. So Midjourney has a lot of users who love the company. And so even if, like Google releases something similar in quality, I don't think that means everyone's just gonna jump ship to the new Google product. I don't see it.
