This is a YouTube video titled "Can This Flying Robot Save You?" created in July 2025. It features a single speaker describing the development and capabilities of the Iron Cub 3, the world's first jet-powered humanoid robot designed for potential use in disaster zones and rescue missions. The content explains the robot's flight technology and the research efforts behind it.
This is the world's first jet powered humanoid robot, and it actually flies. Researchers at the Italian Institute of Technology built a robot called Iron Cub 3 that one day is meant to be used in disaster zones, toxic environments, or other types of rescue missions. This was apparently much harder to build than it looks. Researchers trained neural networks on thousands of flight simulations and experiments so that The Iron Cub 3 can adjust mid flight to shifting winds, changing limb positions, and and even sudden movements without crashing. So in this video, it's hovering about 50 centimeters in the air, using four jet engines. Now, if you strapped four jet engines to me, I would probably have a hard time staying upright. So this is pretty impressive. The research team spent about two years developing the Iron Cub 3. So imagine what could be done in just a few more years or even a few more decades.
