Skilled AI's new S1 robot learns complex tasks from a single video without retraining. It can handle ten-minute sequences with dozens of steps: repotting plants, making pour-over coffee, flipping pancakes. Matt Wolfe shows how prompting, familiar from AI language models, now works for robots.

This robot can copy any task and then go and do it all on its own. Skilled AI just introduced S1, its new foundation model for robots, and I think this is one of the cooler robotics breakthroughs I've seen lately. You can show S1 a single video demonstration of a task it has never seen before, and the robot can then recreate that task with zero fine-tuning or additional training. Skilled says S1 can handle completely new tasks lasting up to 10 minutes involving dozens of individual steps. They've demonstrated robots learning things like repotting a plant, making pour-over coffee, assembling kits, and even cooking and flipping a pancake after seeing one demonstration. S1 is essentially trying to bring the idea of prompting to robotics, which is pretty cutting edge.
