Matt Wolfe uses JetBrains' Matter to add a Halloween zombie mode to his arcade game. The AI scans his code, modifies the game logic so zombies trigger once per 30-minute playthrough, and applies the change live without rebuilding.

Okay, so I vibe coded this game a few months ago that you can play right now. It's kind of like Pac man meets Vampire Survivors, but it's set inside of a library. And in honor of it almost being Halloween, I want to add a fun zombie mode to the gameplay. So here's my GitHub repo. And for this I want to use Matter, which is a new product from Jetbrains that can go into my repo and basically learn about my existing code base and make changes to it using just a few prompts. I'll just go ahead and type. Add a Halloween mode that triggers randomly once during each 30 minute playthrough. When it activates, all the kids turn into zombies, and if they get too close, they zap the player's stamina and knock any books out of their hands. And then Matter gets to work. It's scanning the repo, identifying the game logic, and updating the relevant scripts automatically. On the live preview, you can literally see the change in action. And here's the zombie mode in action. You can see, see that when I get close to one of the zombies, my stamina drops. So Matter didn't just change the background color or music, it actually adjusted the gameplay logic to what I wanted. And this all happened inside of my existing code base, so I didn't have to rebuild or re host anything. If you want to use Matter to build functional prototypes directly inside your code base without having to actually write any code, check it out in the link in the description.
