FASTEST ALIGNMENT with Sketch

This is a YouTube video titled "FASTEST ALIGNMENT with Sketch" created on March 1, 2017. The content is a tutorial-style presentation by a single speaker explaining how to use keyboard shortcuts and plugins to quickly align layers in the Sketch design software. The speaker demonstrates various commands and shares tips for improving workflow efficiency. There is no indication of multiple speakers or a conversational format.
In this video, I want to show you how to align layers and sketch as quickly as humanly possible. Now, I used to go in here, select all the objects, and use this little panel up here. And I still use it a lot. I mean, sometimes it just makes sense to click over there. Align left, align in the center right, align top, align middle, align bottom, align. You get the idea. But some time ago, I started using Daniel Eden's plugin called Align Layers. Link in the description and it's simply some shortcuts for these commands. And it has to do with holding Ctrl and Command. A lot of times I'll do that with either. Depending on what I'm working on, I'll either do it with my two fingers here, or I'll do it with my pinky and my thumb. Probably more common that I use my pinky and my thumb. And so if you look at this, you have your pinky and thumb here and your three fingers up here on the bracket. And the backslash, you can do that middle, right. Then there's also Command Option, Shift, the vertical pieces, just Command and Control will send it to the left and to the right and to the middle. But then Command, Control Shift will do the bottom, the top, and that works great. I've been using those commands. When you learn those commands, it's just faster. And you can move throughout your document a lot faster. But it's always ever so slightly confusing to do Command, Control option and the keys, the left brackets. I made another plugin based off of Daniel Eden's. Hack the code a little bit and just change the Quick keys. If you look at Adobe xd, same kind of idea. But if you select all of these, the options are also Convert Command, but they use the arrow keys. And it just feels a little more intuitive. That just seems to make sense. There's also Command Control H, which will distribute them horizontally, and then Command Control V, which distributes things evenly. And that's actually the same command inside of Sketch as well. But again, I wanted the quick keys to be a little bit better. So here's a look at the quick keys that I introduced. I did the same ones with the arrow keys, and then I also used the period and the forward slash, just because it's right here beside your hand. And it's like a quicker, you know, you don't have to reach for it. You don't really have to reach very far. So now if you look at these new quick keys, just going to select all these objects and hit to the left, to the right, to the top to the bottom, center, middle. You know, if you've got a little element over here and you want it to be in the center of this thing, you don't really, you don't even need align to key object. You can just select both of these. You can align this to the bottom and then to the left. And then now that they're within each other, you can do middle and middle. And so just with a few quick paste align, bottom, align left, and then two center commands, you can do it a lot faster. And that just feels a little bit, A little bit quicker. Just a tiny bit quicker. And it feels a little more intuitive to me to use the arrow keys. I will link to all of the plugins down below. You can grab them and use them. Let me know what you think. If you have any other questions or if you have any other thoughts about plugins or getting quick, just let me know in the comments. Please smash the thumbs up when I'm not making YouTube videos.
