I've created a framework that I use to literally design anything. Map, decide, structure. The MDS method. It's easy to remember because it's my initials. The core idea is that you map out the terrain of your project. You have full access to all pieces of the puzzle dumped out onto the table so you can see everything. Then you decide on what you need to do. You can plan and you can design based on your map. And once you have your map and you have your decisions, you can structure your output confidence knowing that you have a full understanding and full clarity about what you're doing, how that might work for your portfolio project. Map out and get clear on your target role, where you want to go, who you want to show, what needs to be involved, what are all the moving pieces, decide which projects to show, what to cut, what doesn't align. Then you can structure the output and the plan for your portfolio images before designing the site around it. The map and the decisions give you confidence to structure things properly.
