Vacationing with FOUR kids

Matt D. Smith and his family take four kids on vacation, hitting the beach and indoor water parks. A casual look at what actually happens when you travel with that many children.
Today we're headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for our family beach trip. Actually, I take that back. We're not headed to Myrtle beach today. We're going to the Great Wolf Lodge in South Carolina. North Carolina. I'm not exactly sure where the Great Wolf Lodge is, but it's basically this giant indoor water park. Now we are officially ready to go. Are we officially, officially ready?
Now we're ready.
All right. Now we're officially ready.
I have a pen. I have a apple.
All right, first official pit stop. One hour in at Chili's for lunch.
These are my headphones. So it's when a man tries to explain something to a woman that she already knows, condescendingly tries to tell her exactly what you just did. Okay, stop it.
Chilling. Successful. Now we're headed back in the van on our way to our secret destination. Take us to our destination, Captain. I will co captain.
You want me to say co captain, do you?
I'm the captain. I'm just letting the co captain drive.
Oh, is that right? You also let the co captain pack.
The. The captain packed the van. I'm sure you saw that earlier on video.
Apple pan. I have a pan.
We're about to reveal the surprise. It's okay. We're going to. We're going to look at the place we're going to be at.
Is it grandma jeans, Daddy?
No, it's not Grandma jeans. Everybody got their stuff turned off? Baby, got your stuff turned off?
I was going to guess that, but I didn't know we would stay over there for that long.
I have pineapple. Pineapple pan.
You guys excited? Excited about the water slides?
Yeah.
There you are. Oh, you got me. We're at the beach.
Where's our condo?
It's on down here.
Look, the flag.
You see the flag? All right, let's go, crew. You have a key? Oh, the key to the van. We're gonna wait for a second for Shannon.
Number six. I press it.
Hold on. Press it.
I have to wait till everyone's in?
No, you can go ahead and push it. Press 6, baby. Press the button beside 6.
This one?
The button beside it to the right.
This one?
Yep. Nope. Over there's a circle. Beside. Beside. There you go.
Press that.
Press it hard. There you go. Press yes. You hear Next time.
Down wing. Yep.
We've arrived. I've been coming to this same exact room number 626 at Sands Beach Club for, like, the last 20 years. Not every year, but this is a timeshare that my mom and my dad bought way Back in the day. And it's always been room number 626 with this view right here. All right, are you all ready to go down to the beach? Y' all ready to go down the beach? Go.
Wait for me. Wait up.
1 g. G. Pushing the button in the elevator is a very big privilege in the Smith family. Everyone needs their own chance to do it justice. Come back, come back, come back. All right, don't go any further. Don't go any further. Stay right here. Let's go to the pool. Let's go to the pool, Nick. Come on, Noah. All right, watch your step. You don't make sure you don't step on anything sharp.
And go do it. Nixon. My turn. Nixon. Nixon doesn't. Nixon doesn't do it like me. But that's still okay.
The outside pool is fun, but it's kind of raining. So I think we're going to take this party back to the inside pool.
Beach tomorrow.
Yes. We can lift knob. Gotta lift the knob. There you go. I always knew you were a good knob lifter. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Hey, Shannon.
Went and did a little grocery shopping. Through the air I'm picking up vibrations finally clearing up outside. And I think we're gonna head down to the beach and try to dig a gigantic hole. Cuz that's what you do at the beach. You just dig a big gigantic hole.
What? We're mostly gonna dig a big hole. That's what I thought.
Noah's got the GoPro. He's going to bring it down. Okay. Okay. Camera one, camera two, camera one. Camera two, camera one, camera two, camera seven.
Camera eight.
You think you got enough bubble gum there?
No.
You need some more bubble gum?
Sure.
Looks like you might need a few more pieces.
Yeah.
Do you want your bathing suit?
No.
You're not going to get in the water?
No.
He says he's not going to get in the water. Oh, he's not going.
I can't get wet.
Nixon, don't kick. Justice is not wearing his bathing suit. Hey, don't kick him.
To a blossom.
Noah had to go get a shirt because he was a little bit cold. I made justice tell me that he wasn't gonna get in the water on the camera because I knew that he'd be getting in the water. You're not gonna get in the water?
No. And I thought just as wasn't gonna go in the water.
We came down here to dig a hole, but I can't get them to stay out of the water. Nixon did you get a little bit cold? No. You just warming up a little bit. Cheese. Starting to rain out here. We've got a visitor, fresh out of the shower. She doesn't want to get sprinkled on. She might melt into a little puddle. Puddle of little beauty puddle. Right, baby? Maybe making some pretty good progress on the hole over there. But it is raining, so I'm gonna put this camera back in my bag. Mommy's got herself a little Jesus concoction here. She's turned some dasani into wine. A little red wine down by the beach. No shame in that. She also brought me a refreshment. While I've been working so hard on this, on this hole over here. Noah got some gum. Nixon's wrapped up tight. Issa's getting ready to pound the ocean. Justice is somewhere out there trying to catch a wave. This is the view from our hole. It's a little quieter down here because the wind's not blowing, but it's colder. It's getting rainier and I think we're gonna head back to the room. We have tickets to go see a pirate's voyage. Starts in like two and a half hours, so we need to go get ready for that. And mostly we just want to get out of the rain. Issa, are you cold? You ready to go back to the room? Nixon, are you ready to go back to the room? Justice, are you ready to go back to the room? Maybe. Are you ready to go back to the room?
Yes.
All right, let's get out of here. Everybody love me. Because it's pretty cold out here. It's not like cold cold, but it's like in the 60s and it's rainy, it's really windy, everybody's wet. When the wind starts blowing, it gets pretty chilly. I'm gonna go put all this crap in the van. Then we'll go up, get dried off a little bit, go to the pirate voyage. There's a washer and dryer in the bathroom in here. And one more day at the beach tomorrow, then we'll be headed back to Athens. The sun finally came out. Alright, it's our last full day here. I just woke up, if you can't tell. Alright, I got my beach gear on. It's basically the one time, the one circumstance where it's okay to wear a shirt like this and not be judged too harshly. Noah, you ready to go down to the beach with me? Noah's trying to get the high score on. Bop it.
Daddy. You messed me up.
Just gotta take a bunch of crap down to the beach.
Rub it like this.
We've been sunscreening kids for about 30 minutes now. We're almost done. All right. Apparently we're done now. Time to head down to the beach with our beach caddy. This thing is amazing. I'm gonna have to show you all about this in a little bit, but we got to go to the beach now. It's Nixon's turn. I told you you could do it.
No, Issa.
It's Issa. It's Issa.
She's done it twice already.
Sa. Did I ever tell you about the time we went to Myrtle beach and all caught crabs? A little water on my lens here. I'm gonna go try to do a backflip off of this ledge. There's really just no way to avoid the over rotation. You saw how much stuff we had at the beach. The umbrella, all that stuff laid out. Check it out. All in the beach caddy. Look how it's packed up. And check this out. One handed on the sand. No problem. All right. Last day at the beach was a success. We're gonna head to a place called Barefoot Landing to go do some shop shopping and whatnot. Sam, Noah, and Justice and Shanna are about to go down the big giant slide. There is only one rider. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. What happened?
I was right, just like they told me. I tried to grab on because I was starting to fly up in the air.
I'm so.
Scary.
All right, that's gonna wrap up our last day at the beach. Gotta pack up, head out back to Athens. It's been a fun vacation. Thanks for tagging along. Thanks for watching and until next time, I will see you. See you later.
I have a pen. I have a apple. Apple pen. I have a pen. I have pineapple. Pineapple pen. Apple pen.
