Andrew Yang - Truckers Protest! - Dems Winning At Polls

The video segment opens with Morgan Rathford interviewing long‑haul truck drivers in Jackson, Georgia, who have formed a protest group called Black Smoke Matters to demand the White House’s attention. Drivers describe how the Trump administration’s tax changes eliminated the per‑diem deduction, raising their tax bills by up to $8,000, and how other policies—higher fuel costs, parking fees, and regulatory rollbacks that favor large corporations—have hurt independent owner‑operators. The interview highlights the broader economic impact, noting trucking is a $725 billion industry employing 1 in 16 Americans. The segment then shifts to the host’s commentary, citing a Wall Street Journal editorial that criticizes the weak job numbers: only 75,000 jobs added in the latest month, downward revisions to prior months, and a labor‑force decline of 583,000 since January. The host argues these trends reflect poor fiscal, trade, and regulatory policy under President Trump, setting the stage for a broader political critique that will later tie into the video’s overall narrative about Democratic momentum.

—not only putting them out of business, but putting the American economy at risk. Our own Morgan Rathford sat down with a handful of long-haul truck drivers.
What did they have to say? They had a lot to say, Chris. You might actually be surprised to find out that trucking is a $725 billion industry, and 1 in 16 jobs in the US goes to a trucker. But this particular group, who I spoke to in Jackson, Georgia, they say the promises made by the president to put them first weren't exactly the promises kept. So they started a protest. Are now sounding the alarm that the rosy economic picture the president is now painting is not exactly what they're seeing through the windshield.
After working as a truck driver for 20 years, Billy Bogar is thinking of calling it quits. How hard are things for truckers right now?
Almost impossible, really.
Now he's one of thousands of truck drivers throughout the country hoping to get the White House's attention with a new protest group called Black Smoke Matters, named after the exhaust smoke that used to come from big rigs. Do you feel like this administration is listening to you as truckers?
No, ma'am.
No, they're not listening. Not at all.
A mix of Republicans, Democrats, and independents.
How many of you voted for the president in the last election?
1, 2, 3. Many of their complaints are unique to trucking, like parking costs and a lack of training for new drivers. Fuel receipts. But they say some of their issues affect all Americans, like the Republican-led tax bill.
How many of you, by a show of hands, saw your taxes increase this year? They all went up, yeah. 1, 2, 1, 2. All of you? So most of you saw your taxes increase.
The reason?
Something called a per diem.
In the past, truckers could deduct things like food and daily expenses from their taxable income. Now with Trump's new tax bill, they no longer can.
I have a young family at home, and with our per diem, they took the per diem out. That made an $8,000 difference.
$8,000? What I personally paid. So what were you paying in taxes last year?
Nothing. A hit that comes especially hard after promises made by the president. America first means putting American truckers first.
You said you also believe the president would help truckers. Do you think he's doing a good job now? No, I don't.
I mean, there's nothing that he's doing to help us out out here in any way possible. I mean, none. Mr. Trump ran on the platform of doing away with Obama bad regulation. Well, he quite well done that for, I'm going to say, corporate America, but us blue-collar America, we've got regulations that we had when Obama was in office. I would like to ask him, why didn't he do away with the bad regulations for us, the independent owner-operator?
If President Obama made the deals that I made, both at the border and for the economy, the corrupt media would be hailing them as incredible, and a national holiday would immediately be declared, etc., etc., etc. And then he does his best Roddy Dangerfield by saying, I don't get no respect. Well, unfortunately for the president, some of his toughest critiques are now coming from the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board, who wrote this about the weak job numbers that arrived on Friday. Mika?
Well, he says employers added a mere 75,000 jobs last month, but even these paltry gains were erased by the Labor Department's downward revisions for April and March. Job growth has averaged 164,000 this year compared to 217,000 during Barack Obama's second term. The jobs trend this year is going in the wrong direction. The unemployment rate held at 3.6%. That's the lowest in 50 years. But workers don't appear to be leaving the sidelines like they were last year. The U.S. labor force has lost 583,000 workers since January, the first springtime decline since 2013. As we learned in the Obama years, monetary policy alone can't overcome bad fiscal, trade, or regulatory policy. The May jobs report is a flashing yellow light, that Mr. Trump needs to settle his trade wars and get back to promoting growth. Again, that from the Wall Street Journal editorial board.
Steve Ratner, uh, so welcome back to the channel, you all, and I hope you're having a fantastic day. So I want to play those clips to give you all an idea of really what the economy looks like to a lot of Americans. Uh, we're kind of— we've been under what I've, uh, believed to be a suspicious, uh, uh, good booming economy, and it didn't seem to be quite looking that way to me. And I'm sure it hasn't looked that way to many of you all, but you are seeing some of the reasons why, uh, this has occurred. Uh, I think this plays, uh, big into, uh, the, uh, the idea that some people still don't think Trump can be beat. And, um, so, you know, we're finding out that, uh, these things may not be exactly the case. Now, uh, it's starting to rattle Trump a little bit because we see that, um, Donald Trump, uh, is basically, uh, trying to blame the impeachment and all these factors on, uh, you know, what might be driving his poll numbers down. But we see other factors like jobs and the truckers' protests, uh, and all these things that Andrew Yang has already predicted moving up, uh, ahead of time, uh, even before, uh, he predicted that the economy would start to dwindle down as we get closer to, uh, this, the catastrophe that is on the horizon with our jobs and automation. Um, so what this does is this makes it ever so more possible that Andrew Yang is going to, uh, uh, be a strong factor, uh, in this election. And my belief is he's gonna win. Now that doesn't mean it's gonna be easy, and that's not gonna be an easy victory. It might be Uh, you know, uh, you know, getting through this, uh, primary is gonna— I would say it's gonna be the toughest part because this primary is gonna determine who gets to face Trump. Now, in a weird way, I think beating Trump is gonna be easy. I think the primary is gonna be the hard part because the primary is very confusing to— and how it works, the pledge that, uh, Andrew Yang, uh, was prompted to sign where he has to support the candidate that the Democratic convention elects. And you all know how I feel about the Democratic. I think that this is, I think our entire political system needs to just change completely. Doesn't even need to be any parties. The only thing it needs to be is you as the politician, what are your policies and what do you believe in? And, uh, you know, I side with you or I don't, but this just the process in this, I think it makes the country so much worse the way we've set things up. Um, and so looking at the polls, uh, an interesting poll broke, national poll broke, uh, that it shows, uh, many of the Democratic candidates beating Trump. I mean, everybody from Cory Booker to Kamala Harris. Now, of course, you know, with these CNN polls and, well, I think this actually was a national poll and I don't know why they didn't show Andrew Yang in the poll 'cause it showed Cory Booker beating Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, showed Joe Biden beating Trump by 13 points and that's what a lot of people believe rattled Donald Trump to have this back and forth with Joe Biden. over the last, uh, uh, 24 hours. Um, and you know, Joe Biden is kind of taking a page from Donald Trump's book and it seems to be kind of working for him now. You know, like many of you all, I'm not a, you know, I'm not a Joe Biden fan. Um, and he's definitely not my candidate, but I can tell you this, because we've been caught up in a circus, uh, with Donald Trump, of how, uh, how his new idea of politics works, or what they call Trumpism. Uh, and a lot of people who support Donald Trump or who were, uh, Donald Trump supporters kind of fell under Trumpism. And what Trumpism is, it's not really a party. It's not the Republicans or Democrats. It's its own movement, but it is only relevant to Donald Trump. So that means that the idea of Trumpism doesn't go past Donald Trump. And in understanding all of this, Donald Trump doesn't really seem to be, uh, in it for the American people. Donald Trump is a king, he's an emperor, right? That's how he's coming off. And it is, and it seemed like from all the reports we're getting that Donald Trump is for Donald Trump and the Trump family. Uh, when he was in the UK over in England, he actually saw his family, uh, you know, as, uh, as royal themselves, uh, which the, which was some of the British reporters as I was watching some of that coverage were saying, uh, how much they detested the idea. Now, uh, I don't, you know, believe in monarchies or anything like that. We're American people, uh, but the idea that Trump kind of, you know, I think positions himself that way says a lot about Trump and this monarchy that he's turned the America, the Americas to, and the hardworking American, like you're saying, with the truck drivers, the steelworkers, and a variety of these, uh, heartland Americans who thought Trump had their best interests at heart. But Trump is a billionaire. Trump is a king. He's an emperor. He is not part of the common people, and they lost sight of that. And because of that, uh, that's why it's been such a disappointment, and so many people leaving Trumpism now to come over to candidates like Andrew Yang. Now I'm saying all this to say that the idea that's in many of our heads that Andrew Yang just can't win this thing, get a lot of comments saying there's no way that Trump can beat them. Uh, the data is showing, it is beginning to show otherwise, just like I thought it would. Uh, and now Joe Biden is using, uh, Trump-like tactics and it's working in the beginning, but I don't think it's going to work in the end. And I'm going to tell you why. The problem with Joe Biden is Joe Biden, his whole campaign is about, uh, uh, uh, it's about Donald Trump, about attacking Donald Trump and dealing with Donald Trump only in the circus of Donald Trump. It's nothing really in his policies or his platform so far that is showing the American people, uh, how we go forward and how we build a better America, right? It's just tit for tat back with Donald Trump, and that's not gonna work. And Donald Trump's kind of— I feel like Donald Trump's kind of roping, roping him in. And for the Democratic, um, voters who are, uh, thinking Joe Biden's gonna be the, the answer for them, I'm sorry to tell you all that that tactic might work in the beginning, but I don't think it's going to be a long-lasting, uh, technique that works. And we can look at how Joe Biden starts his, his very first campaign ad. It's talking about the character of Trump, right? And, uh, you know, of course we all think how Trump acts in, in a certain, or, uh, senses is, is despicable. But at the end of the day, The American people have made it priority that the jobs are really one of the most important things, right? And so Joe Biden needs to be going after that. He's not doing that. Andrew Yang is. Another good point I found with Andrew Yang after I kind of saw this back and forth with Joe Biden and Donald Trump was that Andrew Yang, uh, how he absorbs— I think how he will absorb Donald Trump will actually neutralize it. If you kind of think about a neighborhood bully or a troll, right? The troll is looking for a certain reaction when he attacks you, but you neutralize the troll when his attacks don't affect you negatively, when you joke them off, when you brush them off, they don't really touch you. And I don't think the other candidates can do that as good as Andrew Yang. I saw Pete Buttigieg kind of try to do that. He kind of used that, Obama, Michelle Obama tactic, when they go low, we go high. But the American people psychologically have been dealing with the Trump circus so long that it is our whole mental landscape, I think, of politics has changed. So when you run away from Trump, uh, or you try to ignore Trump, I think to the American people it looks like weakness. And I think that's just the psych— the psychosis that, uh, it have engulfed us with our type of politics today. That we see all of the noise and loud talking and bullying and all that, we see that as strength. And that's been the confusion why a lot of people picked Trump because they thought that type of approach means that he's standing up for the American people or he's fighting back. Not necessarily, it could just mean you're being loud and bullying and obnoxious. And as far as policies go, maybe you aren't affecting them, As much as you think, because as we can see from this data just presented in these clips, it's not really helping the jobs at all. Like what Trump's supposed to be in his number one thing about the economy and him being a businessman, able to make the best deals to help the American people. That doesn't seem to be what's happening here. But I think Andrew Yang going up against Donald Trump, what you're going to get to see is you're going to see, uh, Andrew Yang able to neutralize Trump's attacks to a point where he's not ignoring them, he's not running away from them, and he's not being pummeled by them, but he's making these jokes that diffuse what Donald Trump's saying and then going back to talking about how you solve the problems in the economy. And I think that's what's going to make Andrew Yang a strong force against Donald Trump and have him win this presidency. But as I'm saying right now, I don't think Donald Trump's gonna be the problem. The problem is what is the Democrats, the Democratic Convention, the Democrats, they are the biggest problem. All they're doing right now is just causing more confusion with all this weird host of candidates they got that are just splitting up a bunch of votes, right? Splitting up a ton of votes and none of them are going in the right direction 'cause a lot of these people shouldn't even be in there running. You know, it's a lot of people in there, they know they're not gonna win. The only thing they can do exist to split up the votes. They don't even have a great platform at all, but they can only exist to split up the votes to make deals. And that's some of the big issues with politics. But anyway, guys, that's my thoughts on it. Uh, I think Andrew Yang, uh, is looking good. It's gonna be a lot of opposition. There's gonna be a lot of hurdles going forward, but a lot of these, uh, uh, polls and a lot of this data and a lot of these circumstances start off this way. You know, even they spoke about Obama. Obama came into the debate, uh, with, uh, pretty low numbers as well, and he kind of just emerged out of nowhere as well. So we, uh, you know, need to pay attention to that. And, uh, Andrew Yang to me is starting to mirror a lot of that. But that's all I want to say in this video. Uh, don't forget as well, guys, uh, on this channel, uh, I have a project of my own, uh, which is a universal basic income program using digital money cryptocurrency digital money to give to you all in the form of value and social networking. Uh, and this is, um, cryptocurrency that can be exchanged for currencies of your choice in your prospective lands. It is blockchain technology, uh, and it is going to be a global system to help get UBI to people around the world as we see Uh, this is, um, the rights of, uh, the basic needs of human beings being entitled to this. Uh, and that's all I want to say in this video, but until next time, take care.
