Aquaman - Trailer Review

The host breaks down the Aquaman trailer, praising the underwater effects and armor design while arguing DC works best with standalone films like Wonder Woman rather than copying Marvel's team-up approach. Hey you, welcome back to the channel. And guys, they released the Aquaman trailer. They're just releasing trailers after trailers now on some upcoming films we've been waiting to see. And in addition to that, what's been going around about Aquaman is we're going to get to see him don his armor that we're accustomed to, where you kind of get the orange and in the green field. If you're into college football, I call it the Miami Hurricane Aquaman. And so, and so, yeah, after watching the trailer, it looks really good to me. This is where I think DC does get it right, guys. If you watch some of my earlier videos talking about the DC Universe. I think where DC does get things right is in their standalone films. That's why many feel, I think, Wonder Woman was one of its best films. We had never seen Wonder Woman on screen, much like Aquaman is going in the same steps as Wonder Woman. As a standalone film so we can focus on the character. And we're interested to see the origin stories of these characters and where they're going. So this is where DC usually does a good job. Where DC has had problems in the, uh, in the past has been trying to catch up to the Marvel level of Putting teams together, uh, you know, Marvel just has a, a way of— they could throw 100 characters on the screen and make it work. This is a unique ability I think Marvel has, whereas I think DC should have stayed away from the keep up with the Joneses mentality and did what they do best, focus on their, uh, specific characters, specific iconic superheroes, big ones like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, uh, and just focus on telling good stories about them. I think they, they would have done much better. Um, and so I— we will get to see these standalone films, and I think Aquaman will be a good film. So this is the Arthur Curry story, and, uh, we get to see what appears to be Nicole Kidman who's going to be playing his mom Queen of Atlantis who, um, has an affair with a land dweller. She has an affair with a land dweller, uh, has a child of two worlds. Aquaman is left with his father who's a lighthouse keeper, and she marries an Atlantean, which is their custom, uh, and has another son by the name of Orin. Because Aquaman, played here by Jason Momoa, is the firstborn son He is the heir apparent to the Atlantean throne, and so this is where his story picks up, picks up in like the comic books. Now looking at Jason Momoa, we know Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones. We know him, uh, he's been a great actor. He has a certain exotic look to him, but it was always my opinion that Jason Momoa would have made a better Sub-Mariner. Or who we know in the Marvel Comics as Prince Namor. And these are very similar characters. It's just like their version of Aquaman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Um, and, uh, or Lobo. Some people say he might have played a good Lobo. But in many respects, I look at Prince Namor and Lobo as kind of minor characters in these universes. And so, you know, Jason Momoa, I can understand wanting to be a big character like Aquaman, who's a lot more marketable and has a lot more story behind him and value to his character. And so I can see going with the biggest character, but that's just my opinion, just my little nitpick there. Uh, but I do find Jason Momoa's portrayal of Aquaman very interesting. I haven't been a super big Aquaman comic fan, although I do like the idea of Atlantis and the history of Atlantis and kind of where the Snyder Universe has taken it. You know, whereas I've been against a lot of things in that universe, I do kind of like this tie-in of the Atlanteans with the Amazonians, the Amazons, and the Kryptonians, you know, and how they've put that together. So I found that interesting in the mythologies of the gods and all this kind of mixed up together. This film looks awesome, guys. We also got to see, um, um, uh, Mira back in, in the character, and, um, um, Ocean Master, who I believe is played by his brother Orin, and the, uh, the Black, uh, the Black, uh, Manta, right? Um, who has this very interesting story where he gets the suit and he's an enemy of Aquaman due to some of Aquaman's, um, uh, adventures before he becomes King of Atlantis. Or we're trying to, uh, basically, you know, being also a human being, being involved with the, with surface dweller worlds. And I don't know the exact story, but It seems that there is going to be some type of vengeance taken on Aquaman, probably due to something to do with his father, who is another supervillain I'm not very familiar with. I have to apologize, guys, Aquaman comics hasn't been my strong point. But as I understand it, That's what's the driving force. That's the cool costume we get to see with the character with the blaster eyes who's going after Aquaman. So it looks great. I also like the special effects with the water. They look awesome how they're, how they're doing it. I liked in, um, even in the Justice League film, uh, when Steppenwolf invades Atlantis, how that looked. And this looks even better. There, there's also many other, uh, underwater kingdoms we get to see in the trailer, um, which I believe, uh, Aquaman's goal is to unite them. And, uh, from the story I've gathered online, he's seeking the trident of the first king of Atlantis, King Atlan. And this is a special powerful trident that he will be able to wield and unite these kingdoms. And so guys, I like what I'm seeing. Very positive about the Aquaman film. I kind of always was positive about the Aquaman film, especially after I saw how they did— how Atlantis looked in Justice League. I did like that, how they handled that. The Flash is supposed to be next, I think. I'm not sure how I feel about The Flash yet. You know, some of these films I felt didn't need to necessarily be made. So you Flash fans don't get too upset with me. Plus, I think I like the TV Flash a lot. I think because of the television production of The Flash, the years, the several decades it's been airing now, I think I've gotten a full dose of The Flash and I've enjoyed just seeing that version of The Flash on TV. And I have liked what they've done with that, you know, pretty much up until now. So guys, that's all I want to say about Aquaman. Let me know if you guys are looking forward to seeing Aquaman. I think it's going to be a pretty good film. Guys, if you like content like this, don't forget to like, subscribe, and until next time, take care.
