Captain America - Brave New World Trailer Review

In this YouTube video, reviewer Michael Joseph Presley (Speaker B) provides a commentary‑driven analysis of the newly released trailer for Captain America: Brave New World. The review interleaves spoken impressions with snippets of trailer dialogue (Speaker A). Presley frames the film as a continuation of the grounded, spy‑thriller tone that defined earlier Captain America movies, noting the shift from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as the new Captain America. He highlights key casting news—Harrison Ford as General/President Thaddeus Ross, the Red Hulk transformation, and the involvement of Anthony Mackie—while also mentioning the late John Hurt’s role as Ross. Presley speculates on the massive production budget (estimated north of $400 million) and its implications for box‑office returns, and compares Marvel’s approach to the current DC slate under James Gunn. He reflects on his personal fatigue with Marvel, yet expresses optimism that this installment could be the best Marvel film in years. Throughout, he invites viewers to comment on comic‑book lore (e.g., Red Hulk) and to share their thoughts, positioning the review as both an informational overview and a community‑building prompt.

You want to help me? Is there anything you remember? Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Thaddeus Ross. Whatever this is, Cap, Be careful. What do we know? There were 5 shooters. This was a coordinated terrorist attack, sir. I was a wartime general. Now I'm a wartime president. Your inner circle's been compromised. Let me fix it. Watch yourself. You're not Steve Rogers. You're right. I'm not. Wait for it. We're on the brink of war. I can't trust anyone.
Guys, welcome back to the channel. I hope you're having a great day. So, um, guys, I have pretty much abandoned Marvel. Uh, Marvel just wasn't doing it for me, you know, like many people. Uh, I just kind of got burnt out with Marvel. But one thing that always seemed to, uh, interest me, and, and I thought that they did a great job of, was these, uh, Captain America films. The Winter Soldier, the original Captain America, just like a perfect story to tell in the Marvel Universe and the direction they've taken with Captain America as it kind of comes off as these kind of spy thriller espionage kind of grounded films, right? Because even Captain America's abilities himself, they aren't far-fetched. He's not a mega-level mutant type stuff, right? He's, you know, the abilities, he's obviously Captain America under the Flag super serum is very strong, right? You know, beyond a human. But I always like the grounded Marvel films, right? And Captain America seems to get that right now. So what do we know about this film? Of course, it follows Sam Wilson, the Falcon, you know, who's now the new Captain America. We got Harrison Ford taking over. I think it's John Hurt unfortunately passed away. He was playing Thunder Thunderbolt Ross, right? Uh, the general who now becomes the president. You know, as he said in the trailer here, he's a wartime president, uh, and, and dealing with, you know, the threat of this film. Um, so looks like it's going in a good direction. I like the actors involved. Uh, I'm hearing reports that a lot of great deal of money was spent, something like north of $400 million, right? Keep inflation in mind. You know, these movies, we used to think $200-300 million was a lot of money. Now we're hearing figures like $400 million. Will it make its money back? Is this going to be a good film? So I'm going to go on a limb here, guys. For some reason, I'm very optimistic about this Marvel film, probably more even optimistic than what DC is doing with Superman. Uh, uh, you know, of course, you know, with Superman, with James Gunn, you know, coming from, um, uh, Guardians of the Galaxy, he's kind of putting that element, looks like, in there. Uh, DC just keeps trying to get a lot of characters introduced at once. They're struggling with that. Uh, they've been struggling with that for decades now. Maybe they get it right this time under James. Maybe they needed the guy who actually did it. Or who worked in that area to do it.
All right.
Maybe that will work. We will see. But these Cap— these Captain America movies seem to never— even Captain America: Civil War was fantastic. So this is actually Captain America 4, right? So if you just look back on Captain America, let's just take a walk down memory lane. Right, this would be— will be Captain America 4, basically, The Brave New World, which is looking great. Then you go to Captain America: Civil War. That's where we got the introduction of the Black Panther, and that, that was just a great movie, I thought. Then you get to Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, and then you get to The First Avenger. Was that what it was called? Uh, Captain America, right? Uh, where he's back in his natural setting of World War II and so on. But every one of those movies, all three of those last movies, seem to get it right. Of course, we won't have Chris Evans in this one playing, uh, uh, Steve Rogers as Captain America. Uh, this is, you know, the takeover from the comics of when the Falcon becomes Captain America. Now, uh, Anthony Mackie, right, who's the, the lead, plays the Falcon, uh, he's never been on my top list of actors, you know, uh, but he's held his own, right? And he's— I've seen him in a lot of other things, and, um, I think he actually played Tupac at one time. He's doing, I think, the Twisted— he's in the Twisted Metal Um, he was in Altered Carbon, the second season, which some people didn't like. But he's been in a lot of stuff, and I've seen him on some Netflix films. I've seen him in some Matt Damon films. So, um, he's not a bad actor. I mean, he— when he's on screen, uh, his acting, it's— I'm— he's believable as who he's playing, right? So I'm okay with Anthony Mackie, right? And, uh, so, uh, you know, so far it's just— it's looking good. It's, it's, uh, probably gonna be the best Marvel film, I think, in a long, long time. And I haven't really looked at the other critics to see, uh, you know, what they think of this film, uh, what they're saying so far. I haven't really seen much, so, uh, I don't really know what they're saying. But just, you know, looking at it for what it is and knowing the history of Marvel, I would say it looks pretty good so far. I'm not seeing anything that looks crazy to me. Uh, of course, you know, uh, Thunderbolt Ross becomes the Red Hulk. I'm also not familiar with the storyline of this. I don't know what's happening, why the Red Hulk is, you know, he's gotten this in him and he's fighting He's fighting Sam Wilson, so I'm out of touch with any comic book references. If you know the story, leave it in the comment book set— I'm sorry, leave it in the comment section. Um, but I would say it looks good, guys. It looks good to me. It feels like one of these realistic political spy drama films, right? Yeah, until, you know, then you see the Red Hawk and whatnot. Um, Let's play a little bit more, see if I can capture anything else.
Nothing about this feels right. Captain America, you ever ask yourself who's playing who? Someone's been pulling the strings on everything. You're under arrest. I don't want a variable out there that I can't control. Stop! Captain America caught without his wings. You like to play dress-up and blindly execute the state's orders. What if this is a trap? You don't even know what this is. Since when were they red? You want me? Come and get me.
Okay, it comes out. Next year, February 4th. So that's not too long from now. Um, so what was interesting, and I don't know, what has this happened before? Because, uh, the Falcon, he was in the show with the Winter Soldier, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I missed that. I missed that entire series, and I heard it was pretty good. I might go back and watch it before this film. I just had too much stuff to watch. But, um, okay, but in, in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, if I'm not mistaken, I saw him in the white getup, the white kind of— it looks kind of like a Captain America, you know, uh, costume, but it's white. It's like, I guess, his own version of it. And I think he had that on in, uh, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, uh, when he's fighting the Red Hulk. You know, he's wearing that, uh, it looks like the traditional Captain America suit, right? Like, I'm assuming it feels like he's totally embraced being Captain America at that last part. Of course, he has the Captain America shield. Uh, what's also interesting about— maybe this occurred in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well, because I did hear some reviewers say things like they like the way that the Falcon used his wings and the various things he could do with the wings, right? And, uh, I did see some of the things he, he did with the wings. He did some cool body shield stuff with them, but I don't recall the razor-sharp, uh, steel wings cutting, cutting through things, right? So are the wings made out of vibranium or something, or, or is it another metal? Right, that is made out of. I don't know, but that looked pretty cool. I thought that looked cool. It looks like a good movie, guys. Uh, uh, again, I don't know what's going on with the president. Like, why would Thunderbolt Ross— I believe he was the Red Hulk in all of the comics. I, I just never really got that far with the Captain America. I was more, more so like with the X-Men type stuff, but I didn't get deep into like Captain America: The Falcon comics and what was going on with the Thunderbolts, which is another film coming out. Now, the Thunderbolts to me, I don't know, it looks like because they got the Sentry in it, right? So it's going to feel a lot more comic booky to me. And so, you know, people who know me, who've watched me do reviews, especially on superhero things, you know, I tend to like to stay to the more grounded areas like the, you know, like the Batman type things and the stuff that, you can kind of picture psychologically what it would be like for real. And when I look at something like, uh, Captain America here, where you essentially have a guy with a, um, with a, uh, some type of jet wing suit, uh, kind of just reminds me of a military technology, which is— it is. Because, uh, the thing about the Falcon, as far as I know, he doesn't possess any type of, uh, superpowers, right? He's not like Steve Rogers. He's just was part of this, uh, elite, uh, jetpack wing-wearing, uh, core military core group. And he participated in that. So I would probably, you know, I love stuff like that. It was kind of grounded. Of course they got the Hawk in it. I don't think I've seen any other— was there any other superheroes? Well, you had the, uh, uh, what's his name, the, uh, I can't remember his name now. He was the Blue Marvel, I think it was called, right? He's framed for trying to assassinate the president in the beginning. I don't— I'm assuming he's framed the way that it's going, right? But he was one of the supposedly, I believe, the first taker of the super serum, like with Captain America taking. So that's where his powers come from. So again, I think of the serum like they're juiced up on steroids or something, uh, uh, so it has this kind of grounded type thing if you don't include the Hulk, right? So it's looking pretty interesting. I like what I'm seeing, uh, guys, so far with that, you know, tell me all what you think about— are you going to see this film? You think it's going to be a good film? I think it's going to be one of the better Marvel films in many, many years, uh, so we'll see if those predictions hold up. But, uh, that's all I want to say in this video. Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other.
