In this YouTube review, the host provides an in‑depth walkthrough of Dune Prophecy episode 5, "In Blood, Truth," covering major plot revelations, character motivations, and thematic elements. The episode introduces Desmond Hart as the new Bashar and reveals his lineage as Tula’s son, a product of a Harkonnen‑Atreides union, and his retroviral weapon ability. The host examines Constantine’s role as the Emperor’s son, his betrayal of his sister Inez, and how his actions align with Bene Gesserit plans to secure fleet command. The review also details Bene Gesserit intrigue involving the Ferman girl, truth‑sayer abilities, and Mother Regalia’s memory takeover of Lila. Technical discussion includes the strength of personal shields, comparing them to the slow‑penetrating bombs seen in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. The host critiques the series’ pacing, arguing that episodes 4‑6 constitute the essential narrative and that the season would benefit from a shorter, tighter format, citing Black Mirror as an example. Further commentary laments the Harkonnen portrayal, suggesting a missed opportunity to align more closely with Villeneuve’s vision. Finally, the reviewer speculates on future plot threads—Kieran Atreides’ possible escape with Princess Annette, the growing rift between Valya and Tula, and the evolving dynamics among the Harkonnens—while inviting audience feedback on the series’ potential continuation.

Welcome back to the channel, guys. I hope you're having a great evening. Uh, we're going to review Dune Prophecy, um, episode 5, In Blood and Truth. In Blood Truth, right? So we open up, Desmond Hart is the new Bashar. He is the now the, uh, what would be the head of— I guess you could call these the progenitors to the Sadakar, right? That's the Emperor's special forces unit, right? And so, um, Desmond Hart rising up through the ranks And I think the earlier predictions were correct about, uh, I think the earlier predictions were correct about, um, Doom prophecy. And that was that upwards from episode 4 to episode, uh, up to episode 6, these are the best episodes, right? So here's what I'm thinking about Dune Prophecy so far. I'm beginning to think that, you know, whatever pressure there is to do longer episodes in these series, uh, I think those pressures should go away, right? Uh, there are television series that have run full seasons on just 3 episodes, right? And And I think one such series that has done that well is Black Mirror, right? I think Black Mirror has survived on 3 episodes for the entire season, right? So in a world where we've went from a standard season that can run 20-something-odd episodes, right? Uh, too much what we get to like with our, uh, streaming services where you might get 8 to 12, right? Now it's been cut down drastically to 6, right? But here's what I'm saying. I'm saying that if within 3 episodes— or I'm sorry, within 6 episodes, uh, you need to drag on the storyline, you need to put things in there that that don't need to be there for seemingly just to get filler, uh, I'm saying just go to 3 episodes if you need be, right? Because that's what seems like what's happening with Dune: Prophecy, and that is episodes 4, 5, and I'm gonna go on a limb and assume episode 6 are the best episodes in the series, and they might have only been the only necessary ones, right? The only— they may be the only ones that we needed to see. Right, um, now, uh, it was kind of a slow burn. It took a while to get started, but whereas, uh, the episode on Lankovitch, or what would be the Harkonnen homeworld, right, um, whereas before I was saying this is probably the worst episode, after seeing this week's episode It makes a lot of sense and it goes hand in hand because we get the reveal of who Desmond Hart's character is, right? Who Desmond Hart— so what's his identity, rather, right? Who is he? Um, and of course we get the reveal at the end that Desmond Hart is in fact Tula's son, right? He is a, uh, product of the Harkonnen and Atreides union with Tula when she took out the entire Atreides clan, right? And so, um, he seems to be bitter about that, right? He said they were— he was left at the steps of, um, I don't know if he's referring to the, uh, the Bene Gesserit or the Sisterhood, but What, what, what we did get to learn was that he feels a great sense of abandonment, right? And so, uh, this is a great motivating factor and what's driving him. We, we have many theories about him not even being human because of this ability he had, but now this could just be an ability within the scope of the breeding program. Right, in his union with the Atreides and Harkonnens. And, uh, so, uh, this virus, as they, uh, after they study this blood, this, this retrovirus, or however he's doing what he's doing, uh, it's something that he's been able to use as his weapon, right? And so, um, maybe that's the end of his storyline with that ability And maybe we'll get more of it in the upcoming episode, right? Uh, but a great episode this week. I really enjoyed it. Uh, we also got to see Constantine, the Emperor's son. We got to see Constantine, uh, discover that Kieran Atreides was in fact a traitor to the Corrino house, right? We also got to meet Constantine's mom, who was, uh, who was basically a, uh, concubine to the Emperor Giacomo Corrino. And we get to understand that as part of the breeding program, Constantine's main purpose is to protect his sister Inez. And when she had been very upset with him because, as we got to see, he did abandon her in her time of need— he chickened out— but it seems to be working in his best interest, uh, in that because he made that decision and didn't disappoint his father, the Bene Gesserit plan to get him at the head of the fleet, commanding the fleet, the Emperor's fleet, was able to move it, move along, right? As the sisterhood is losing the step in the, in the, in the influence of the emperor, they now need to work through Constantine, right? And, and they're basically doing that alongside with the help of his mom, but he needs to have the emperor's support And, uh, had he had stuck with, uh, Inez, uh, he would have— he would not be seeing a favor with the emperor. And so, uh, it could turn out to, of course, be a good thing for the sisterhood and even Inez, as he will be able to, with this future power that he will now wield, he will be able to basically assist their movement even more so, right? So I thought, I thought all that was great. Now, Inez, of course, she does go to see Kieran. She uses her truth-sayer Bene Gesserit abilities to find out if he's telling the truth about his particular mission to apparently put the higher-class people in their place. To serve the realm of the common folk in order to, um, you know, uh, for the, for the, the betterment of the Imperium, right? And so seemingly by using these abilities, she's convinced that he was telling the truth. So it is probably likely she's going to find a way to work with him or set him free, right? Otherwise he's a dead man. Okay, we also get the Ferman girl who was working with Karen Atreides, who's actually a Bene Gesserit. She's actually part of Sisterhood. We get to, to see her truth revealed in the Truth and Blood episode here, uh, where she's, you know, using her Bene Gesserit abilities to fight Desmond Hart and his army that have, on the tip of Harlan Harkonnen, uh, went down to the docks in order to, uh, basically bust them, right, for, um, you know, working to set in motion the, um, the murder of the, the glam rat, right? Um, now, uh, what's interesting is, you know, she's pretty much had it up to, you know, here with, you know, with, uh, what's happening with the Bene Gesserit order, the sisterhood. Because you can tell how she was speaking to the Reverend, um, Mother Valya, um, you know, that she felt that they had, you know, been led, you know, she had been led, uh, kind of like a puppy along to, um, and not kept in the loop that she— of course they had been planning this, um, uh, this, um, you know, setting the stage for all these things that these events to happen for years. A lot of investment, uh, sacrifices, and, uh, seemingly all for not for the entire operation to be shut down and she would have to go off-world, right? A safe house on Arrakis, back to the Fremen homeworld, right? So she's very upset about that, and you can kind of tell it was coming to a head with her in Volume. So I don't know what her future's gonna be like. Seemingly the way it's going, she's gonna abandon the sisterhood. That's what it's seeming like, that she's, you know, she just had it with them. And, uh, um, you know, um, it just seems like there's more to happen with the relationship between her and Kieran Atreides. It seemed like something's been set up there for, you know, for quite a while. And so, uh, I don't think we're going to see the last of these together. I do think Kieran's probably going to end up escaping, uh, with the help of Princess Annette. She's probably going to run away herself, right? She just doesn't seem like, um, uh, you know, things are going to work out with her at the palace, um, the way things are going, right? So I kind of foresee those things happening. Um, so Desmond, Desmond Hart gets there, as we got to see, and they have detonators ready to go off, right? And so when they go off, he apparently these personal shields are as strong as— strong enough to withstand explosions. So that's kind of— that's pretty interesting. I didn't know they were quite that strong. But if we look at the Denis Villeneuve films, and this seems to be greatly inspired by those films, they use these large, slow penetrating bombs, right, that, uh, when they hit a shield wall, they slowly start to drill into them, right, until they penetrate. Because of course these shields form against kinetic energy that's rapid. So as they use the term, the slow-moving blade penetrates the shield, that's able to get in there, right? Uh, so apparently these shields can withstand huge blasts, right, even personal shields. So Desmond Hart pushes his to the limit And he survived, he survives, right? So that's very, that was very interesting. That was something I didn't know. I did wonder about the, the strength of these personal shields, and apparently they're very strong, right? It makes you almost invulnerable, looks like, provided you don't get a slow force through there. And so that was all interesting. I mean, all in all, this, this week's episode seemingly did everything right. I thought it had all of the elements of, um, uh, a good, a good full episode. Um, you know, it is something I, I guess we're always going to expect or use the Denis Villeneuve films, Dune movies, as the you know, as the measuring stick, right? We're gonna always see how this compares to that. And I say this week's episode did a pretty darn good job, right? You know, of getting close to that mark. There are some elements, you know what I think? I think that Like, I know these aren't the really new films, and, uh, but it's something I would have liked to see about the Harkonnens, right, being more similar to what they are like in 10,000 years. Or I know 10,000 years is a long time, things could change, but these Harkonnens that we see in this depiction, right Uh, they're very much different, it seems, than, um, what we'll get with them in 10,000 years, right? Uh, and, uh, I think that's kind of a missed opportunity, right? I, I think it would have been interesting to see the Harkonnens pretty much the same as they are in the Denis Villeneuve films, right? I, I think that would have, uh been a lot more interesting. And it's just something about their whole— it's just something totally different about those Harkonnens, uh, you know, than what we see with these Harkonnens, right? And I, I, I, I think that, uh, you know, they should have just went all the way because this, this does look a great deal like the You need really new films, right? It, you know, um, to say it takes place in that same type of universe, I think would be accurate. So I think they should have just went all the way with it because it's just something I feel that are missing from these Harkonnens, right? Uh, these Harkonnens, they, you know, at times they feel like people you kind of want to root for but don't want to root for them. Because when we look at kind of this thing with Valya Harkonnen and Tula, uh, and now we got Desmond Harkonnen. So that dynamic of him being the son, uh, we could pretty much predict it's going to make Tula not want him to be executed. And Valya now being his aunt, I don't think that's going to stop her at all from wanting to execute, uh, Desmond Harkonnen. But I do feel it's gonna drive a severe wedge between her and Tula, right? Um, I think that's going to happen. So, um, yeah, I think that's what I would like to see. But again, I think I would say to HBO, don't be afraid to cut these episodes down, right? Uh, if you, you know, if— because a lot of what Doom Prophecy has done this season, it drug on quite a bit. It was a lot of this stuff didn't need to be in here, right? Um, And, uh, it was. And, and so we— I don't think we needed that, right? I think this could have been just an awesome show with maybe even less characters, right? Um, and so, uh, yeah, those are pretty much my thoughts on it. Uh, I haven't seen the preview for the final episode yet. I'm gonna probably watch it after this video. Uh, but tell me, guys, what you all thought about it. I thought it was an excellent, uh episode this week. Uh, I forgot to mention about, uh, Lila and, and Mother Regalia, uh, uh, her memory taking over Lila's body. And, um, I, I think the one interesting thing that happened in that particular, um, uh, uh, scene was that Mother Regalia did seem a bit bothered by the death of her, uh, daughter Dorothea, right, or granddaughter. Um, and, uh, I don't know exactly what that means, but of course she had to focus on the mission at that time. Um, and, uh, I don't know if that creates some friction between her and what will be Lila in the future, uh, but will be interesting to see. Uh, but anyway, that's it for this week, guys. Tell me what you think. Uh, are you now starting to see that Dune Prophecy, uh, might be deserving of another season? That Dune Prophecy, it does have a future somewhere in Dune universe. Tell me below what you think. Um, and that's all I want to say until next week's episode. We'll do the final one, review it, wrap up the season, and, uh, um, uh, that'll be it for Dune Prophecy. All right, guys, take care.
