King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword Trailer Review

In this solo vlog, the creator reviews the trailer for the upcoming King Arthur film directed by Guy Ritchie. He notes the casting of Chris (Charlie) Hunnam as King Arthur, alongside Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, and Damon (Diamond) Hunsu, and expresses confidence in their star power. He critiques the film’s historical accuracy, pointing out that the armor shown belongs to the 15th‑16th centuries—far later than the 4th‑5th‑century period where Arthur is thought to have lived—suggesting the movie may exist in an alternate universe. The reviewer highlights the heavy use of magic and fantasy, referencing the Lady of the Lake and over‑the‑top visual effects, and compares this to the more subtle magic in the Camelot TV series he admired. He observes modern stylistic choices such as rock music and a “badass” aesthetic, questioning whether the film aims for a contemporary retelling or a historically grounded story. While he enjoys elements of the trailer, he remains cautious, stating the movie is unlikely to become his favorite Arthur adaptation but may be an entertaining weekend watch. He concludes with a typical YouTube call‑to‑action, urging viewers to like, subscribe, and stay tuned.

Hey guys, welcome back to the channel, and today we will review the new King Arthur movie scheduled for this year. Um, uh, Chris Hunnam will, uh, portray the role of King Arthur, and, um, you know, so, um You know, we're finally getting another King Arthur movie. It's been a while since we've had our last one. And you know, um, one of the things that has happened over the last, uh, you know, decade or so with King Arthur, uh, movies is that they've tried to make them more historically accurate. Um, we know that You know, history has, you know, has tried to find King Arthur, you know, the legend of King Arthur. And, you know, with the, with the time frames, you know, for it to be a medieval, you know, story set, and, you know, the type of body armor that they wear, you know, that didn't really come on the scene until about, you know, you're We're talking like 15th, 16th century armor, and it just kind of put King Arthur out of date. You know, for King Arthur to work, a lot of people speculated he would have to have existed around the time of the year 400 to 500, the 4th, 5th century. And, you know, we know that during that time frame, that armor that we've seen, you know, in a lot of these King Arthur stories, uh, just wouldn't work. It— that armor is probably 1,000 years too early, you know. And so, uh, I don't know, guys, I just kind of like to think of these King Arthur movies, you know, like this is maybe existing in an alternate universe. Um, you know, also what I've noticed about this King Arthur, it's going to be a lot of magic and fantastical things in it, which is fine. Um, you know, one of my— one of my favorite King Arthur movies was Excalibur. I think that's the greatest, you know, King Arthur movie that's ever existed. I don't, I don't know if anybody's going to be able to replace that movie. I just don't know. Um, and although I'm seeing things in these trailers I like, I'm also seeing a lot of things I don't like. Uh, and I guess it's just a taste thing. Um, you know, uh, it seems to be they're wanting to go for a more modern-day relevance to the King Arthur story. You know, we got kind of the rock music going, the body armor, and you know, the, you know, it's just, you know, he's coming off as this badass, you know. And again, that's fine. It's a taste thing, and I think it can work to today's audience and things like that. So I don't really have any complaints, you know, so much in that. In that area as long as they, um, you know, in the movie pretty much, you know, get it together what they're trying to be. You know, do they want to be this kind of mix of, um, do they want to be like it's a modern-day retelling kind of existing in its own universe, or do they want to kind of, you know, have some relevance and, you know, historically what was going on? Uh, we also got Jude Law in the movie. I think Jude Law is a great actor, so I'm sure he's gonna bring that Jude Law style acting to the role. And, and, um, you know, so definitely a movie I think I'm gonna, you know, want to go see. Um, I love King Arthur movies. I've, you know, read a lot of historical accounts and watched a lot of documentaries about them trying to find King Arthur, you know. And, uh, you know, I just really love the King, you know, Arthur, uh, you know, stories. And, you know, who else did we get in this show? We got Damon, Diamond, Diamond Hunsu. You know, he's the black guy who's been a gladiator. He has a real good talent for picking blockbuster movies to be in, you know, successful blockbuster movies. So, you know, just going on that alone, I'm going to assume this movie is going to turn out pretty good because he He's really good at picking the right, you know, picking the right, uh, picking the right movies and, you know, things like that. So, uh, you know, so far I pretty much like, uh, you know, I'm not big on the, on the mixing of the old, you know, modern, you know, stuff with the modern day and retellings and things like that. I'm not so much big on that and the rock music, you know, and things like that from, you know, putting that toward, you know, earlier piece like this. But, um, I don't know, I think it'll be something different. It's a Guy Ritchie, you know, Guy Ritchie movie. You know, Guy Ritchie, he, you know, he puts that Guy Ritchie spin on things. And, you know, and, and I've liked, um, you know, some of the movies he's done. And, um, you know, I think he can shoot a pretty good, interesting film, you know. Um, I don't, you know, I, I highly doubt this will end up being one of my favorite King Arthur movies. I, I think it'll be an entertaining, interesting movie, an interesting take on King Arthur. But, um, the direction they're going with this film from what I can see in the trailers, uh, and, you know, them going with the magic and, and fantasy, you know, to the degree it is, um, you know, I don't think it's going to be, uh, something that I'm going to, you know, put in my, you know, as one of my top King Arthur movies. Um, a few years back, or, um, they did a Camelot TV I believe, with, um, uh, geez, what's the attractive woman's name who was in it, who played in, um, uh, the, uh, the 300 sequel? Uh, Eva, Eva Green. Yeah, I think it's Eva Green. And Eva Green played, uh, King Arthur's sister. Um, and, um, darn, I can't remember her name either. I used to know the story pretty good, but How they did the fantasy and the magical part was— I really liked how they did it. I wish they would, they would do that in this film. But what I, what I can already see is the magic and fantasy, and this is going to be kind of over the top, you know. They kind of showed the Lady of the Lake and she was doing all this, and, you know, interesting stuff in the water. But, uh, in the way that they did it in Camelot, the TV series, and I believe it aired on Starz— if you haven't watched it, you should go back and watch some of those episodes. Episodes. I thought it was great. I don't think the show, you know, should have been canceled. I actually liked the show, but they did the magic so subtle and so interesting. It was almost like witchcraft or magic where, you know, it wasn't so obvious, but you could tell it existed and it worked. And, uh, but they did it very subtle, and I liked how they did that. And so it was kind of a mix between, um, great, interesting, uh, serious kind of King Arthur show, but at the same time it dabbled with the magic and you're somewhere in the middle. And at the same time you had the Christian faith kind of battling against, uh, you know, sorcery and paganism and witchcraft. And I— it was, it was just very well done. It was seemingly trying to be a little bit more historically accurate, you know. It wasn't doing all this fantasy armor, things like that. It was going back to maybe the type of armor and, um, you know, things, apparel they would have actually worn. But, uh, you know, this movie's going in a different direction, um, you know, and, um, you know, I'm gonna see where it goes with it. Um, I, you know, I think it's gonna be interesting if, you know, if nothing else, you know. I don't, you know, I, I'm not looking for this to be, um, you know, again, like I said, you know, my, you know, my favorite of the King Arthur movies. But, um, you know, I think it will be, you know, You know, you know, an interesting movie to watch maybe on the weekend or something like that. So it's gonna be my review on the trailer I've seen, guys. And thanks for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Until next time, take care.
