In this excerpt, the speaker explains that steam.com functions as a central, globally distributed platform for hosting applications and services, emphasizing its open-access nature that allows anyone worldwide to read and use content unless an entire internet shutdown occurs. They note that while the Steam platform itself remains resilient, individual services hosted on it must comply with the laws of the jurisdictions in which they operate. The speaker then shifts to discuss a new protocol they are developing, describing ongoing work to ensure its effectiveness and safety, and announces an upcoming testnet that will enable community participation in testing and refining the protocol. The tone is conversational yet technical, and the speaker expresses strong enthusiasm about the imminent testnet rollout.

I think it's important to remember that steam.com is the main bank line for organization, host application, servers, for example, web development. This is what's going to happen on this platform as long as standards remain on the Steam platform. Steam is an open platform, completely distributed, that exists in every country in the world. And the access to the Steam platform is open to open to everybody. And the ability to read everything on that platform is open to everybody. And no one can take that away from anyone, short of shutting off the internet. So if a country is willing to do that, then they'll be able to block access to the Steam content. As far as individual services, whether they're steam.com, which is from, as Matt said, in the jurisdiction, has to comply with that jurisdiction's laws, or any other application on the Steam platform, they're going to have to comply with their laws and wherever they are. But the beauty of this thing is that the Steam platform that connects all of it can never have defects. Wait, I have one question. What is it that you're doing to attack the— He wakes up like this. You know, I try to be as efficient as possible. that sort of thing. We are working diligently to get this protocol out to be as effective as we described it and expect it to be, and to be as safe as it needs to be. We are working on a testnet so that the community can engage with us in making sure that it's as effective, as safe as it needs to be, and that testnet is coming out as soon as we can possibly get it there. It should be fairly soon. And I could not be more excited to go into that testing process with everyone and really, you know, get things revved up with people. [INAUDIBLE]
