Phoneum - True Mobile Miner Contender?

Michael Joseph Presley explores Phoneum, a mobile cryptocurrency that lets you mine on any smartphone. The project includes safety features that shut down mining if your phone overheats, and its ICO is ending soon. Presley sees it as a way to decentralize mining beyond expensive rigs.

Hey you, welcome back to the channel. And guys, today we're gonna talk about Phonium. All right, but first, a few announcements. Uh, so if you've been watching the channel, uh, you know I've been trying to direct a lot of you over to BitTube to watch my content over there. I have been having some upload issues, which I'm still having, but I think I found the problem. My dodo head brain has just realized that my videos on my recording software was at 260p, 260p, and there's a 360p requirement. I accidentally just noticed that. And I, and so this video should appear on BitTube first if it works, if it, if I no longer have upload problems with that, but that's what had been going on. And after I found that, hopefully this solves the problem. But anyway, let's talk about Phony. You know, guys, I had been saying that some of my, my view of altcoins had been a bit worrisome as of late. A lot of people making predictions like 95% of altcoins are gonna bite the dust. I have become very narrow and selective in altcoin coins that I like, but I've been trying to find other coins to talk about here on the channel because the ones I'm talking about now, like BitTube and Electroneum, my favorite, uh, like Waves, um, like STEEM, uh, like Redcoin, uh, these are, um, I had got pretty, uh, uh, you know, biased about them. So I said, is there not anyone else out there that kind of excites me a little bit? And Phonium might be that. And so let me tell you why Phonium might fit the bill and why I think Phonium might be something that is, could be a coin I like. I don't know how far Phonium is going to get, but let's tell you a little bit about it. Okay, so Phonium is a decentralized cryptocurrency designed to deliver a simplified user experience and platform that enables all users regardless of technical aptitude to fully participate in the new cryptocurrency economy. So that was the key word right there, regardless of technical aptitude. So what generally happens a lot in cryptocurrency is the language and what's going on is very confusing to the average user. And what the average user does is he goes, uh, I don't think I want to use it because it's too difficult to use, or it's not interesting, it's not interesting to me because, um, uh, of the difficulty, it's not user-friendly, right? So right there, Phonium's talking about being this very simplified, uh, currency you use on your phone. It looks almost like a copycat of Electroneum, the, uh, the, the, uh, the mobile miner. I, I have downloaded and tried it and I like it. I like it. I probably like it because it looks like Electroneum's Electroneum's miner, mobile miner. But Phonium's supposed to be a true mobile cryptocurrency. And what I mean by that is you're supposed to be able to just mine Phonium with your, um, with your smart device, smartphone. Right? And I don't even, I'm not technical guys enough to even know if that's, you know, how that works exactly. How possible is that if it's going to blow up your phone? What I, what it seems to be happening is, as I read through some of the white paper, there seems to be this type of alert device or this thing that Phonium software does where it'll stop using your phone before it reaches a critical dangerous level. So however they can do that, that's the idea behind it. Let's talk about the monitor battery processing temperature being able to maintain itself at a certain, um, uh, at a certain rate and temperature. And at that point, it will just disable your device. So you, you won't run the dangers of destroying or blowing up your phone, right? And so this is all handled by smart devices, mobile devices. But guys, just think for a second, think about how that changes the game. You know, people always talk about Bitcoin and talk about how great Bitcoin is, and I like Bitcoin, but what I never liked about Bitcoin was that we've always had this kind of monopoly of miners, right? And this expensive mining equipment that a lot of people, most average people, can't afford or don't have time to use or aren't going to use it. And so what What it does is that takes out a level playing field, so to speak. But if you can just take a smart device, if you can take your smartphone and you're both miner and you're using the network and this and that, obviously you can see that gives more power back to the people. In addition to that, this is where a kind of a bias comes up again with me, even with Phonium. And so I want to choose good coins because they're good coins, not just because they're biased to me. But a lot of people who've watched my channel over the years probably know as a hobby I'm a smartphone miner, which means you just buy a ton of mobile devices, smartphones, and you run them and you make cryptocurrency off them, or you make money off them in some way or another. And in doing that, I've racked up quite a bit of smart devices. So I have quite a bit of just smartphones, more than a normal same person would have laying around the house. And because of that, what's happened is I'll be able to mine on dozens and dozens of devices for the Phonium blockchain. If what they're saying is correct, their ICO will end this month and we'll get to see. It looks like their, their ICO has been successful. But I like the concept, guys. I really like the idea of Phonem. And I think I just like it because it's giving back to people, right? It's giving the power back to the people. I'm not gonna go and spend thousands of dollars on a, uh, on a rig, a mining rig, right, to mine Bitcoin or anything like that. And then it's been all these cases and, and talk about is it even profitable, and if it's not profitable, you know, finding coins that are profitable to mine, and some are more profitable than others, and you're using up a ton of resources, a lot of a lot of just, you know, we know the story with that. So that's, I think that's why I'm so excited about Phonium. I don't know how big Phonium is going to get. I don't know how sustainable this system is. Like I said, guys, I'm not a tech guru. I dabble in it a little bit. I, some things I stick to me, I pick up on quick and some other things I don't. But it seems like the founders of this company believe that this is sustainable to their blockchain, just running these mobile devices. They're saying it's true mobile, meaning the others are frauds. It's true mobile-only cryptocurrency and mining solution. So guys, that's all I want to say about Phonium. I want to bring you another coin. I just can't keep talking about my favorite two, BitTube and Electroneum, no matter how great BitTube's doing on price right now. It had an awesome rally last night. And I expect there's going to be more, but let's see what's happening with Phonium. I definitely like it, guys. I love the concept of it. I love any coin that allows people a more even playing field because what that does is create better distribution for all. And that's what you want. You want great distribution for all. That's how come I've had problems with whales in the past, although it's not their fault how the systems are set up in the inherency to the system. That are inherent to the problems in the system. It's not their fault, um, but it's just we have to start from scratch sometimes with these systems to make, uh, have them where they prevent these type of issues. Guys, if you like content like this, don't forget to like and subscribe. I hope you can view this on BitTube today, and if not, it will appear on YouTube as well. And until next time, guys, take care.
