Hey you, welcome back to the channel. And guys, today we're going to talk about the latest trailer we got in Star Trek Discovery, the, uh, trailer. And we're gonna try to, uh, see if we can find out what was going on in this trailer. And, uh, so what I found very interesting, uh, so far about this new Star Trek is that it doesn't really seem to fit any Star Trek universe we know. Uh, it's supposed to be a prequel, but it seems a bit out, out of it with the original series and, uh, the prime, the prime line Star Treks we know of. But even when we try to compare it to the J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Although it is reminiscent of it, there are elements and things in this particular Star Trek that doesn't even seem J.J. Abrams-ish. So kind of a good thing and a bad thing. I think for me it's kind of a good thing in that some of the things that I kind of wanted them to go back into on Star Trek and kind of better explain or give a different take on. Maybe this show gives it that opportunity, gives the opportunity to do that. Whereas, you know, I can see we're looking at something like this that isn't familiar to a lot of the Star Trek audience could be, okay, this just looks like some type of a science fiction space battle show. With the Star Trek logos and, you know, and legacy. So in that sense, it could be a problem. But, you know, as I have been saying in a lot of earlier videos on the Star Trek Discovery series so far, I find that this show will be one of the best-produced Star Trek shows. You know, we can that from the trailers. They aren't shy about the budget. We can see that, uh, the high quality of the shots, the cinematography. Uh, you know, we get aliens that aren't, uh, you know, that aren't just, uh, uh, you know, humanoid looking. We get some really alien-like, uh, beings, uh, And it all just looks great. But what I want to try to do is try to give my best interpretation of what's going on in this trailer we got. And it was an amazing trailer from start to finish with the music. I thought the music was awesome. And you know, we got Klingons talking, and we also got this voice message from a holographic message to Commander Burnham from Sarek, who we know to be Spock's father. But not only Spock's father, information's coming out in this series. We're finding out that this may actually be an adopted daughter of Sarek, an adopted sibling of Spock. Yes, Spock as we know from The Original Series and the Prime Line. And, uh, that's all very interesting. And they're exchanging information about the Klingons. Now, in my last video, I talked a lot about how the Discovery looked like a battleship, and I received information from some viewers and various things that it is stated it will be a scientific vessel. And, you know, most of Star Trek voyages and shows and ships have been these scientific research vehicles that are armed but only for defensive purposes. They're not like, you know, really meant for war, but they can protect themselves if need be. And, you know, as I stated in my earlier video or last video, that I thought that the sharp angles to the ships, just the whole setting of what was going on in these trailer scenes, seemed to be that there would be some war going on, that these were some type of battleships. So What it seems, or the best I can gather, is that whatever's been happening with the Klingons— he's just talked about that their government has been in disarray— whatever's happening, looks like when the Shenzhou engages the Klingons, and I don't know if this has been the first time they've actually engaged each other, or maybe the first time since maybe some type of treaty was signed, or have you. But it's seeming like there's a battle going to ensue and a battle going on with the Klingons. And, uh, you know, we get these interesting scenes with Captain Lorca and with, uh, Commander Burnham. And he's stating to her that, "You helped start this war, help me finish it." And they seem to be— one of them seems to be locked away in a brig. I don't know if it's Commander Burnham I'm assuming it's probably Captain Lorca that's locked away in the brig because in one scene he touches the force field, you know, as touching it like trying to get out. And so it could possibly be that he was imprisoned for some type of, you know, wrong judgment, military Command or something to that effect. But, uh, he's in prison and he— and I believe what's going on is Commander Burnham may be his first officer, or maybe at some point in history was his first officer. I have no idea. But he makes the statement she helped start the war. So we also see her making decisions about firing on the Klingons before they fire on them. Delivering this preemptive strike, if you will. And this isn't something that the Federation allows at this point in time. They only fire unless fired upon. So, you know, to a military strategist, obviously that would be probably the wrong move. We have a scene here of the sarcophagus ship And I don't really know what's going on with this Klingon commander here, or this Klingon king, or this Klingon High Counselor. But it seems someone has died. I don't know if this was a great Klingon warrior. Is it the bones of Kahless? I don't know. Or is it maybe his father and now he's starting to take over and succeed him? We'll have to— I'm sorry, that was High Chancellor, the Klingon's formal title, but I don't know. I think they might be going with King in this particular type of Star Trek show. Not sure, but I've been hearing that. Come out a lot. Um, yeah, but this looks really good, guys. All the footage looks great. These are some of the aliens that we got to see in the trailer, and we can see that they look really alien, uh, don't look as humanoid as we're used to seeing. And although there have been a lot of complaints about the Klingons, what I've liked about the Klingons is the fact that they do look so weird and so alien that it's not like we're just looking at a human with makeup, which is what we've seen on a lot of Star Trek series. And maybe that's due to budget, I have no idea, but this show we can tell has the budget. It's sparing no expense. It's doing these very high motion picture quality, uh, shots. And, uh, just like everything I'm seeing with this, guys, But yes, that's my take on it, guys, that this is going to be a war started by, or shots first fired by, the Federation. And basically we're gonna have a situation, I think, where Captain Lorca is gonna be basically kind of reminiscent of the Captain Garth of Izar story. So even though he's not Captain Garth, I'm already starting to see a lot of similarities in Captain Lorca. I see him as a capable commander, but I see him as seeing the Klingons as a threat that he's possibly gonna have to eradicate. And this might be against the Federation code and various things like that, but I think as they begin to maybe lose the war against the Klingons, then they will start to adapt other tactics to deal with the Klingons, in which they're gonna probably need people like Captain Lorca and Commander Burnham, two people who seem to be very militant in decision-making and choices. So that's going to be interesting to see. A lot of the complaints I've been seeing that we've been getting about this direction of Star Trek is that, you know, Star Trek has always been about exploration. It's been about a lot of fun, uh, details. Uh, you know, it missed the, the, the, the story. And so this story seems very, uh, a little bit more serious nature, a lot more warlike. And I imagine a lot has to do with trying to pull in You know, we in the Star Trek world call it pulling in people with short attention spans, people who need to see Michael Bay explosions. And that's kind of a problem a lot of traditional Trekkies and Trekkers are having with the direction of this Star Trek, that it might end up being more like a Star Wars type, Battlestar Galactica type serious war story, and I have no problem with that. I'm okay with seeing a different direction of Star Trek. I think Star Trek is a big enough world to include many other different types of stories about Star Trek, yet hold to the core values of what Star Trek is. And I am an Original Series buff as well, so believe me guys, I understand it all. But at the same time, I understand that a different, vastly different storytelling world than we were, you know, decades ago, generations ago. And that some things that the other Star Trek series did on broadcast television just probably won't hold the attention of enough people to the point where they don't want to pour enough money into it, and it'll probably end up being canceled. We'll probably get these Star Trek shows that run a few seasons like Enterprise and things like that. And I think that's one great fear, to have just another Enterprise-type situation. And so, you know, CBS trying to cash in on Star Trek, they're trying to move this to more on the level of, uh, this new age of video streaming we're watching, you know, the Netflix shows. And you can do a lot with things like Netflix, you know, create original series, not be so much worried about ratings and various things like that, how it's delivered to people. So CBS is trying to evolve, and they're trying to evolve the Star Trek brand with it. Will it live up to, you know, and satisfy everybody. I don't think so. I don't think it's gonna satisfy everybody, but there may be a nice mix of old fans and new fans that can appreciate this show. I think I'm gonna like the show. Most of the stuff looks great to me. Even the uniforms that I said in the beginning, I said, oh, they're a little too dressified. I think they should have stayed for a dress uniform. It's kind of wearing on me now. Now I'm kind of seeing it as they're, you know, using them through these scenes and wearing them. And I'm like, okay, I'm a little bit more okay with them. But anyway, guys, that's my explanation and that's my review on what we got, what might be happening. Comment below, let me know what you think this is all about.
