Superman - Shaq Shook Meets Real Superman! [Review]

In this YouTube review, the host (Speaker A) discusses a newly revealed Superman costume, emphasizing its high‑quality materials, impressive cape, and the controversial inclusion of superhero trunks. He contextualizes the suit by recalling Shaquille O'Neal’s long‑standing love for Superman, his past role as the comic‑book hero Steel, and Shaq’s expectation of being cast as a Black Superman in an upcoming film. The host critiques the negative fan reaction that labeled the suit as cheap or cosplay‑like, arguing that many viewers haven’t examined the details closely enough. He also laments DC/Warner Bros.’ marketing choices, suggesting a Super Bowl or Puppy Bowl spot featuring Shaq would have maximized impact. Throughout, he touches on broader themes such as DEI debates around casting, the historical use of trunks in superhero costumes, and the channel’s focus on comics and crypto content. The video ends with a call to like, subscribe, and engage with future superhero and crypto discussions.

Welcome back to the channel, guys. Guys, today we're gonna—
real Superman.
Boots will never fit. And the bell not ducked in. Wait, he's licking at the Superman suit. Shaq, and he's saying that the suit's too small. I don't know if you guys know the history of Shaq and Superman. Many of you all probably know if you watch the NBA, right? If you follow Shaq's career. But Shaq, he used to be known as Superman, right? And he would get the Superman tattoos. He would put Superman emblems on all his cars and all his mansions. He was a big Superman fan like many of us, right? And he was a big Superman fan, I think, especially like when a lot of people was like Batman fans, right? Shaq was, I was always so interested in Shaq because he chose Superman over Batman. And this is at a time where, you know, it was a big debate about, Batman being better than Superman, all that. But he's saying, um, he's saying that, uh, he's got too small to fit in this Superman suit because Shaq actually played a Superman. He played Steel, right? Remember the Steel, the black Superman with the hammer and the armor, right? Then he did a movie, right? Yes, Shaq was an actor. He was big in Hollywood at a time. I remember when I was a kid, I watched that film. And, uh, um, I, I, it wasn't a bad movie, you know what I mean? Obviously they didn't— he didn't get any sequels. It was— I thought it was a good outing for Shaq. But also, just pay attention to the Superman, you know, uh, costume here as we get up close to it. This is a darn good looking suit, guys, right? Look at the detail, the attention to detail in this suit. So a lot of people are saying the suit sucks, um, and, uh, they just haven't got a good look at this suit. But, and then they're saying things like it looks like cosplay on the CW, all that stuff, right? And they're totally wrong. Looking at this suit, every time I take a look at this suit, it looks darn good. Remember I did a video about, about it's the best cape on Superman? You go back and watch that video. It's the best cape. Um, I won't— I'm not ready to say it's the best Superman costume yet because I've seen so many great Superman costumes. I'm not gonna say that, but I will say it is a great looking suit.
Oh, is this basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal?
Uh, what are you doing here?
I'm just meeting with the director, James Gunn. I'm gonna be in this new Superman movie. Ain't that right, James? Oh my God, I'm so glad you guys connected. It's not every day you get to meet the OG superhero. David, I want you to meet my buddy Shaq. Shaq, I want you to meet Superman. You guys see the resemblance?
That's hilarious. You know, um, you know, a lot of people were saying, why was it— you know what, Guys, this would have been perfect in the Super Bowl. Now that I think about it, think about how perfect— all they had to do— wow, who's doing marketing at DC? James Gunn, call me. Fire your marketing team. Fire them all. They need to be fired. This could have been a Super Bowl— in the Super Bowl commercial, all right? Did this with Super Bowl and then put— just put the Superman logo at the end, right? And, uh, people would have loved this. I think it would have made a big impact on, uh, on the marketing for this film. Uh, Shaq is disappointed, you know, because like I said, Shaq's played a Superman in movies before. He played Steel. Um, it looks like he thought— yeah, because he, he thought that James Gunn was going to cast him as Superman, as a, as the, as the Black Superman. But you know what's funny about that? Good guys, think about Like all these, uh, the big— you guys' favorite YouTubers, your favorite big YouTubers who went insane on this DEI stuff, right? Imagine if you had a Black Superman played by Shaquille O'Neal, how insane they would go. Suit doesn't fit anyway.
Oh, Shaq, don't be like— what are you doing, dude? Come on, man. You should have chose me, Mr. Gunn. Dude, don't be like that, Shaq. You know, he would look great in the suit.
Shaq is so hilarious, guys. So he did want to be in it. He thought he was going to be cast, and, uh, he was upset. He was— he thought he was there to be. Yeah, because I guess Shaq would say he's such a, uh, a big, uh, iconic figure. If you call— if you— if James Gunn calls you to come in for a film, you're gonna think you're the lead, especially that Shaq's been leads in his, uh— he was the lead in his own Superman movie, so maybe he thought it was a step up. And then, uh, he kind of tightened up his butt, ready to take flight at the end. That's hilarious. I'm liking Corey Sweat here. I guess this is Corey Sweat. He's kind of— well, he's not playing Clark Kent, but he's— he was kind of in this little disguise. And, uh, yeah, that is hilarious. Come on, I didn't even tell you about the cool cameo I offered Barclay. Look at— look at this suit though, guys. I know a lot of people were put off by the Underoos, right? But you know, you remember, you watch my video, uh, about how Corn Sweat wanted to wear the, the, uh, the, the, the, um, the underpants like that because, you know, pre-superhero days, the superheroes were athletes. Right? Like, uh, uh, in Roman times, the gladiators were superheroes, right? The gladiators were the people who were superheroes. And, um, in, uh, earlier, earlier 18th century America, uh, wrestlers, right? Boxers, wrestlers. And they would wear these trunks, right? These, these like that. And so that's, that's when the comic book era came in. That's when they start wearing the, the, the, the, um the trunks, right? The wrestling trunks. Because they would— that's who your superheroes were, right? And so, uh, David Cornswell was adamant about paying homage to that. Now, a lot of people didn't like that. They didn't want him to have any, uh, trunks at all. James Gunn, uh, actually consulted with Zack Snyder about if he should have them or not. They went with them. I like the fact they're kind of different traditional in that sense, right? Even with the Brandon Routh Superman, uh, he had the— he had the trunks, but they were a lot smaller. They looked a little, you know, more, um, you know, more digestible, you know, I guess you could say. But the attention to detail in this suit, guys, you get up close looks on this suit, looks pretty darn good. Now, whoever's saying it looks cosplay CW, Right, uh, as a person who, uh, um, I would like to consider myself a connoisseur of fabrics, materials, fine suits, Italian suits, uh, English suits. And so I'm good with fabrics, guys. I know materials, right? I know good materials when I see it. And this isn't a cheap suit, right? As people are saying it looks cheap, look at this video again. It is not a cheap suit. But anyway, guys, uh, that was hilarious. That's all I think I want to say in this video. Tell me all what you think. Uh, do you like the suit more as you get more detailed looks at it, right? And that's another reason why you can't jump the gun on stuff, no pun intended. Can't jump the gun on stuff because, uh, it's kind of like listening to a song. You ever hear a song, you're like, uh, I don't know if I like this song. I kind of don't like this song. And then after the third or fourth listen, you're like, wait a minute, this is actually a good song. That's how I feel about this suit, right? But I thought this was hilarious. I thought something like this, maybe not this particular video. I don't know if you want to spend $8 million with Shaq promoting Superman, but something along these lines I think would have been great for like a Super Bowl spot. Uh, even, uh, even that, even, uh, at the Puppy Bowl, right? Because remember, they didn't have to pay for the Puppy Bowl. Oh, marketing DC guys, you got a great filmmaker here, but fire the marketing department. Fire these guys. These guys do not know what they're doing, guys. They do not. Because you can't make any excuses about the Puppy Bowl because, as I understand it, Warner Brothers owns the Puppy Bowl, which means that I don't think they had to really pay any money for that commercial. You probably would have to pay Shaq, you know, and maybe you wouldn't even have to pay Shaq because Shaq's such a big— he's the number one Superman fan, as they said. Uh, he might— Superman true fans will do it for free. But anyway, that's all I wanted to say, guys.
