Welcome back to the channel, guys. I hope you're having a great Sunday evening. And so today, guys, positive news, more information about the recent test screening of Superman coming from comicbookmovie.com. Now, this is the same source that we got information from the last video And they were talking about a small pool of people who had negative feedback about the film. But we're understanding now through this latest information that overall the test screening was positive, even to the point of being mind-blowingly good, right? Being Guardians of the Galaxy level Good. So let's get into this article a little bit and see what's happening. So Superman, we've heard much more positive things about that recent screening on the heels of some negative buzz about a recent screening of James Gunn's Superman. We've heard that the response was a lot more positive overall. On this week's episode of The Hot Mic, hosts Jeff Snyder and John Roca share some of the things they've heard about a recent screening. As far as we know, there has only been one of James Gunn's Superman, and the buzz was definitely leaning negative. Roker has told The DCU Reboot, uh, had a similar tone to Captain America: The First Avenger and The Mummy, and that the movie was said to be decent overall. Snyder's source was not as optimistic. Suggesting that there is a reason to be worried about the finished film. We've now heard from a well-placed source who has spoken to people who've seen the movie, and their feedback was a lot more positive. Apparently Superman was described as Guardians of the Galaxy level good, and while some of the VFX was unfinished, A lot of the shots were polished enough with several months to go before release. Those in attendance that shared their opinions reportedly loved the movie. It's worth keeping in mind that both of these things can be true. It is highly unlikely that everyone who saw Superman at this screening felt exactly the same way about it. It's also important to note that plenty of much-loved films receive negative responses from early screenings, and vice versa. At the end of the day, We won't know what to expect till we're sitting in theaters next July. Uh, one thing we do know for sure is that the majority of comicbookmovie.com readers were very happy with the first trailer. According to our poll, 33% of you felt the teaser was great, while only 1% went with the most negative option, worst trailer ever, right? And then they're asking me to weigh in What did you make of the first trailer for Superman? I'm going to select I felt it was mind-blowingly amazing because I did, right? Because it gave me something. Let's see what the poll said. Poll: What do you make of the first trailer? 6,079 votes in 9 days. Click next for the poll results. And although, although, guys, mind-blowingly amazing isn't the biggest count. It is— it does come in at 24%. The biggest is at 37%, which is great, which is still great. And then 19%, pretty good. 12% okay, disappointing 6%, and worst trailer 1%. So these are probably Zack Snyder fans toward the end here, right? So it's only really about 7% out of 100% who, uh, you know, had some negative feedback about what they saw. And good indication of what we're probably going to get. I like that Guardians of the Galaxy level good. Uh, guys, because what that tells me is it is going right down the path that I thought it would go, and that is that James Gunn would create this ensemble with all these characters on screen, and, um, he would be able to do a very good job with that, right? That it would feel, uh, it would merge together well, just like he was able to put all these characters together with the Guardians of the Galaxy. He's a— as I've said in earlier videos, he's a genius of doing that. He has a talent for that, right? And that's very difficult to do. This is hard to put a lot of people, characters on the screen at once. Now I know a lot of Superman fans wanted to see, uh, like maybe an origin story movie. They want to see a movie only dedicated to Superman and Normally I would agree with that and I would say, hey, start this off. Let's first get to know the character of this particular Superman, then let's move on. But because we've done it so much over the last several decades, it just hasn't caught root. Sometimes you just gotta try something else. And, uh, maybe it is— it was time to try something different with Superman because how many times are we going to see different versions of that origin story, right, in these reboots and so on. So what I'm feeling like this is feeling like is like catapulting to like Justice League level, like, uh, you know, sort of like the animated series Justice League Unlimited and all those things where, you know, we're getting Superman but we're, you know, we're also just getting this huge ensemble of all the— these— of a lot of DC characters and such. And if you're one of those people who like you know, those Justice League animated series and all that, what you got, you're probably gonna like this film, uh, as well. Because, um, from what I'm hearing and what I can infer from what James Gunn can do, I can see him doing something like that and getting it, getting it together well in that case, right? Um, I, of course, when I was hearing the negative buzz. I was like, yeah, these sounds like Man of Steel fans. These are SnyderVerse people. Uh, how many people were, uh, you know, at that screening, right? You know, if you guys look at the other video, you can see I was saying all this stuff and that I wasn't worried, that, uh, I was very confident in how James Gunn was going to do this film. And, um, you know, and it's not so much that I'm just a huge James Gunn fan. That's not what it is. I like Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought they were great films. Great films, right? But, um, you know, that wasn't really, you know, those, those films, that area of Marvel wasn't really, you know, my biggest attraction, you know. So, um, I probably didn't make a big of a deal as some of the Marvel fans, but I, I like the movies, right? They were good movies, right? Well done movies. Um, but, uh, I just know James Gunn can do this, right? And I know the direction that Superman's been in and what we can do now with our films and such. I just know James Gunn was going to be able to get this right. Uh, as I had been saying before, Zack Snyder was absolutely the worst choice to do a Superman movie. And, um, you know, I had been saying I didn't even think it was a Superman film. And, uh, I'm actually— my next video is going to actually be about why Man of Steel isn't accurate to the Superman comics, right? So we're going to talk about that in the next video because I, I hear a lot out there about, um, you know, how the Christopher Reeve films and the Donner films aren't relative to, you know, aren't really comic book accurate as such and so on. But I've done a little research and, and that might not be exactly the case. It could be, uh, as I'm doing my research, that those films seem to be more in line with the comic books, and that Man of Steel is more so out of line with the comics, right? So we'll get into that a little bit, uh, in the next one. But I just want to let you guys know that, that we have got more information on that, and this looks like, uh, it's going to be a great film, um, you know, all in all. Um, was there anything else that came out in that article? Let me just double-check to see if there was anything else that we may have missed here, right? They're just bringing up Captain America again and The Mummy and stuff like that. You know, again, I thought those was bad comparisons. That was a red flag right there too when this article broke, because I was like, why are they talking about Captain America and The Mummy? Yeah, it's like I, you know, that's like no comparison I could see whatsoever, uh, you know, um, but yeah, I mean, you know, and, and of course, guys, I, I also want to, you know, just say that, yeah, they're right in the article as they bring out that, uh, it is possible for two things to be true, right? Um, that there, there, there are We've had countless situations where we— excellent trailers, uh, you know, the costumes were right, the suits were right, and everything seemed to be right. But you get in that movie and it's not the movie you thought it was going to be. And for me, that was Man of Steel, right? Uh, you know, I, I thought Man of Steel— well, I take that back because I didn't even think those trailers were— but some people did. Some people thought the trailers was pretty good and all that stuff, and then they get in there and, you know, they didn't like that movie as much, right? As far as the Superman movie goes, right? But, um, yeah guys, so this is what we got here. I'm not surprised. I, you know, again, I was saying, I was thinking in my mind that he's gonna translate this to a Superman Guardians of the Galaxy slash Justice League, Justice League Unlimited type thing. And I'm, I'm personally ready to see that area of Superman, right? Because I thought those Justice League movies were terrible, that Zack Snyder did. I thought the Man of Steel movies were terrible. So, uh, if James Gunn's going into that world, which it seems like he is, uh, we're gonna see a bigger DC Universe. And, and if somebody could get that right, if anybody could get it right, it's him. And I think he will. And I think it's gonna be interesting to see a different type of Superman, uh, film, right, that we've seen thus far. Uh, but, but still true to the character of Superman. You know, in the comics, you know, of course we know Superman engages with a lot of people, uh, and I think this take on it is going to be probably the best we've, we've gotten, right? This might end up being one of the best Superman movies, period, right? Because besides the Christopher Reeve films, right, uh, it's pretty much consistent. Although I, I, I, I'm not saying Superman Returns was a great movie But it was a great, uh, companion to Superman 1, Superman 2. I, I look— to me, Superman Returns fits very, very well after Superman 2, if it was like Superman 3, right? You know, of course, the, you know, the, the Superman with Richard Pryor, that was, you know, that was some comedy bit. It was a a different kind of wacky movie. But even Superman III wasn't the worst Superman movie, right? It could still kind of fit in there. But, uh, in comparison, Superman III versus Superman Returns, I have to give it to Superman Returns as a companion to Superman I and Superman II. And it was a continuation of the Donner films, basically, you know. And although it wasn't great what people wanted it to be. It was fair to good, right, for me. Uh, Man of Steel, nothing to do with Superman. Uh, that was what we got next, right? Uh, and, uh, after that it was just a— it was a total mess. It was that and these Justice League movies from Zack Snyder, and it was just a disaster after that, right? So I just cut all that out, and hopefully The next chapter is going to be these James Gunn Superman films, uh, and, and, uh, it's going to be maybe hopefully a continuation because this Superman James Gunn's doing, it does seem closer to the Donner films, right? And, uh, like I said, in my next video I'm going— we're going to get into what some of Man of Steel gets right in the comic book world, what the Donner films got right in the Superman films, right? As far as the character Superman and all that, and we're going to get into that a little bit because, you know, we, we get a lot of information out there about the comic book universe of Superman, uh, that, you know, these Superman films not being accurate to the comics. But I think I can make a case that, uh, those Donner films, those Christopher Reeve films, those, uh Even though Superman Returns films, uh, and maybe, and maybe this James Gunn film, um, I, I, I could tell you that the James Gunn Superman so far is closer to those Supermans than the, uh, Zack Snyder's version. But, um, we'll, we'll get into a little bit of that in the next video. But guys, there you have it, right? Uh, there's some positive news, uh, probably in my opinion more accurate to really— because a thing is, uh when you have somebody like James Gunn who can do great movies on the— through his history, like he's done with the Guardians of the Galaxy, uh, which is, you know, to do it repeatedly like that, right, uh, through 3 movies, right? Because you gotta— I don't think anybody will deny that all 3 of those movies were awesome, and they were, you know. Let— it's hard to get one good superhero, but just to come back, back to back in the trilogy and nail them all, right? So I knew right off that was something as serious as a Superman film, an entire franchise, uh, depending on James Gunn. I just could not believe that he would make a, uh, a film that didn't blow people away, right? I thought at the very least critics would be saying, uh, even if they didn't feel it was so true to a Superman film, I thought they would be saying it's entertaining, it's a great film. Right? But to be saying it's a negative film and all of that, and I just couldn't buy that. I wouldn't believe that. Uh, I just couldn't, you know, I would be very skeptical as I was in that. And come to find out, there's a lot more information there. Guardians of the Galaxy level good, that should sum it up for many of you guys, right? Comments like that, right? Because you already know when they say stuff like that The care you're invested in the characters, you're emotionally drawn in, all of the things that didn't happen in Man of Steel. I wasn't, uh, emotionally invested in Lois Lane. I didn't care. I didn't care about, uh, Clark Kent and, and the relationship they had. None of that. Uh, his— he was a, a very bland character, right? He had no development really, uh, except they was just— he's just waiting on the action sequences for him to start destroying builders, and then I got exhausted halfway through that. So, uh, yeah, uh, you already know right off that's what they're talking about. But guys, I'm gonna— I'd like to hear you guys' comments about it. What do you think about this, um, about this, uh, uh, you know, being more to the positive on this test screening? And, um, I'd like to hear your comments. And guys, until next time, I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I'm excited, and I look forward to this film coming out. All right, take care, guys.
